Wet grass+new busa= not good

:welcome: to the ORG! :poke:the friendly busa org. :cheerleader:
well.....gonna live with the damage? or fix it? i'd just live with it. but thats just me.

Thats over $1000 in damage.

Yeah. Had $1800 in damage from a simple garage drop on another Busa I owned... dropped in garage 5 days after purchase, brand new, at 100 miles to the dot. Snagged footpeg on my military uniform, as I wasn't accustomed just yet to where the pegs were and didn't realize they were in danger of being caught by my battle dress uniform pants.

Suckage. Have not dropped my new '09 (yet!) Knocking on a very big wooden piece of furniture... Have come close to losing the rear wheel on oil once or twice... so take corners like a grandma around here now.

5'10", 135 pounds. Tall enough to keep the Busa from starting to fall in most situations, but not hefty enough to stop her from going down once she's well on the way...

There's a reason for frame sliders... and for planning slow-speed maneuvers in advance and handling the Busa very gingerly if you're not a hefty dude. I've found always paying attention at slow speeds and while "walking" the bike seems to help avoid most issues...

Mine fell of a hydraulic bike stand while I was cleaning her 3 weeks after I bought her. In slow motion I watched my baby lose her balance and fall :-( I didnt have as much damage but I knew it would kill me each time I seen the hairline crack I put on the fairings along with the scratches.
Totals Estimated Damage from insurance company for dropping a hayabusa.... Drum Roll Please.............. $3742 and some change!!!

Yeppers... really too expensive to drop these things. I'm tempted to pull every piece of OEM plastic off, and replace with cheap imported stuff.

I just called my insurance company and they cut me a check for 32 hundred and some change. Bike is in the shop now, picking it up tomorrow just like new again, Went by and checked her out on the way home from work tonight. Rather then the $1200 muffler I got the full Akropovic Titanium Carbon Exhaust.:cheerleader: Much better then new, She sounds sweet with that Apropovic on, thanks to the site here they directed me to the Akropovic for power and not obnoxiously loud sounds great deep:cheerleader: low rumble.

True story. I'm 6'2" 200lbs and had to catch the bike in the driveway with my wife on the back HOLDING ON instead of stepping/rolling off. I had the bars turned and grabbed the front brake :banghead: some how and I never wanna try again I managed to hold the bike and my wife up off the ground.

At least nobody was hurt and I/we have a cool story to tell.

I have heard stories of people getting FREAKISH STRENGTH while in the process of saving someone...or something! COOL

Very sorry about this guys new bike...mine just like it, and I can imagine the sick to stomach feel.
Several good options posted, if it were me I`d have to get it fixed, or custom paint.....but then again chicks dig scars:thumbsup:

I detect a half-truth, Russ, you wouldn't replace the plastics, but you wouldn't just live with it. You'd go on a few trips to some neat places, buy a cool sticker to cover each scratch, THEN live with it :D

I know what you mean,i got off in the grass on the side of the road when I had my Katana 600, I had a worn front tire and the bike skidded a little in a corner so I staightened the bike up drifted off in the grass, while trying to ease it back onto the pavement I panicked and hit the back brakes...... and down I went, it went down on the left side and high sided me and flopped over on its rightside, I landed about 10 feet from the bike, pulled the hell out of my groin, it was a painful ride home. it bent the right handlebar a little and broke my front brake lever, little ding on the tank, I traded it in for the Busa, I keep good tires on the busa

Those pictures are making me cry.

I got the same exact 2011 Busa. Got delivery of it 2 weeks ago. I'm a new rider, so I got a 2010 Ninja 250 as my practicecycle for this first season to learn on. I also took delivery of a 2011 Fat Boy Lo 3 weeks ago. Yeah, I know, once I got my license I went motorcycle crazy. My Busa's got 20 miles on it. 0 miles fresh out of the crate. 12 miles was from the one time I took it out on the streets. The other miles on the bike are just from me riding around my storage unit parking lot. I have to say, you've got balls being that small and riding the Busa. I'm only about 5' 9" with boots on a good day. I have to pull my legs together real tight to the tank to get a good flat foot. One good thing I have going for me is that I'm 170 lbs. and am a pretty well built dude. If it wasn't for that I probably would've dropped the bike a few times by now.

It's funny because the Busa feels so damn light when riding especially when compared to my Harley. So the first day I rode the Busa, I was turning on 1st gear and was going too slow. This was in my storage unit parking lot, a controlled environment with no traffic. I lost balance, stuck out my left leg to regain balance. I underestimated the weight of the bike because of it's deceptive lightness. My left leg wasn't prepared for all that weight. I damn well had to use 110% strength morning glory weight lift to prevent it from going over. I would've quit riding if I had $1000+ damage on the first day. The other few times was just me attempting to do a k turn with the bike to get it out of my storage unit garage. If I wasn't as strong as I am and/or was 4-5 inches shorter, the motorcycle would've been done for.

Otherwise, glad you're OK and have a new upgraded bike!

I did the same thing as you when i got my license ,buy a few bikes, went a little overboard,i bet you that your harley end s up collecting dust after the first season,me,i had a beautiful 06 103 screaming eagle fatboy, ended up trading it for a 2010 rr1000,much more fun,be safe, have a good day.

Hah! I'm glad I'm not the only one.

It's actually funny you mention the Harley collecting dust. Last Thursday I took out the Busa again on the street and put another 30 miles on it, so now the odometer has 50 miles. I got back to my storage unit and glanced over my Harley. I noticed that it only had 30 miles on the odometer (I got it brand new with 8 miles versus the Busa which had 0 miles). So I rode for another half hour to get it up to 50 miles... it looked neglected and I felt like I needed to ride it to justify my purchase.

I must say, the Harley is so comfy, it's like riding a couch... but it's just not as fun as the Busa. The Busa is such a challenge to ride, you always have to be attentive of everything.

My Ninja 250 though is the one getting all the mileage. I bought it used with 600 miles. A week after I got it, I did the 600 mile service at the dealership at 630 miles since the previous owner didn't do it. Cost me $250 since I didn't buy the bike from them.

Well, 3 weeks later, I put 370 miles on the bike. Went back to the dealership to do an early 1000 mile maintenance. I figured they'd eat me up alive again with more $$$. But this dealership actually sounds like honest people. They told me they combined the 600-1000 mile maintenance and I should be good until 2500 miles.

I'll probably sell it beginning of next season before I even reach that since I'm learning so much and becoming more confident with the Busa.
