I am reading a book: “What we could have done with the money”
It lists the things that we could have bought with 1 trillion dollars.
Since the Bailout is 8.2 trillion, I have changed some of his figures to reflect the 8.2 T instead of the 1 T.
1. At a 10% return on the money, the interest alone would be housing vouchers for 80 million families. Each year.
2. Start 400 million new business (over one per person US) at $20,00 each.
3. 8 satellite dishes for every household. On earth, (includes subscriptions).
4. 8 laptops and wi fi hookup for every family in a city of over 100,000 people. On earth.
5. More than 8 ipods each for every person. On earth.
6. Pay off every single Bank and gas credit card in US, 8 times over and send out $16,000 to each household who has no debt.
7. 32 all expenses paid trips to Disneyland for every person in the US.
8. Give every person in US high school money to attend college and get a 4 year degree. Eight times each.
9. Build 53,000 miles of monorail system.
10. Pave every highway in the US with a sheet of gold leaf, 24 times.
