What do you do about the Harley dudes?

Dont you wish you could see the look on there face as you go by, and hear what they said.

I "don't" think about Harley-men....what are you doin' thinking about Harley-men ????.......if I think about anything I think about some of the Harley-ladies....ooooohhhh YUMMAY !!!! :oldcool:

I dated a Harley chic for 2 years. Rasied around Harleys all her life. My bike was the first metric she'd ever been on. And the first one she ever driven. She loved the power but she missed the sound of the harley. As hot as she was she has some serious issues. They are nice to look at and maybe even a one nighter. But a serious relationship at least with her should have been out of the question.

I have no desire to own a Hardley. I don't entertain them, if they want to see how a busa will run they can go buy one or put some money on it. Of course if I know them and I'm riding with them there is always the setting of the rules, after they see one short burst of what it will do they won't taunt you the rest of the day.

I actually like them less and less as time goes on- below are my reasons:

1. I have always tried waving to them since day one that I started riding, and about 40 percent wave.

2. a friend wanted and wanted and wanted to get a bike- I told him when he got one I'd be happy to ride with him.. he bought a Hardley, rode with me 1 time, and now only rides with Hardley people. And that's the only thing he'll talk about is Hardley crap. The funny thing is, before he even bought the bike, he told me about an uncle he had who bought one BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER, and on the trip home FROM THE DEALER, the bike broke down... now here he is riding one, and a Sportster at that. Whoopie.

The only thing I can say that I've noticed about Hardley riders that I wish would happen with sport bike riders is, all the ones I see ride moderately sane and stay in formation- no man left behind. I can't say that for the sport bike riders I've ridden with unfortunately. Other than that, I just don't get the HD way- are you that dam insecure about yourself and your life, that you have to go and buy a 20K bike and hang out with others just as insecure as you and are doing the same thing? Blows my mind.

I've tried to understand them.. honest. I just don't ever foresee myself owning one.

Yes, I hear you on that. The Stealerships give you a free lobotomy with every new bike. How else could anyone blindly believe the hype?

Stopping for a rider on the side of the road is a matter of personal preference. Personally, I will always stop, or even go out of my way to get to a stopped bike. The only change I have made over the years to my habit, is that I assess the situation carefully before shutting my bike down, or getting out of the car. You can't tell what you may be getting yourself into anymore, and that's a real shame.

I'm the Chaplain for our local HOG chapter. Here's what I do about the Harley people: I pray for them, their families, and for their safety when they ride. Last month eight couples wanted to renew their wedding vows, I took care of it.

As for my busa, they all know what it is and what it's capable of. I guess that's why they're often saying "you be careful on that thing, we can't afford to lose you."

Personally, I haven't had any issues with the Harley riders... They don't always wave back, but oh well..... I've had them come to a stop light and roar off, but I don't think it was about me and the Busa. I think they would have done the roar off thing weather I was there or not.....

Well I went to Sturgis this year , aahhhhhh yuk I was not impressed!!! & while I was there I had the thought " These Harleys are kinda like my wife, BIG ( got big after I said I do= Bridezilla) loud & slow.. So since I'm kinda married to one like that I sure dont want another. Just facing reality.

And 3, 2, 1...
In the doghouse in record time!

I still want a Geezerglide at some point to put some serious mileage on. But at 63, I love my Big Red '07 Bus. It fits me well, I ride with a plain white Arai and a Schott Perfecto. Harley dealers are WAY better than the local Suzuki outfit. And Harley girls? you got to be kidding... unless you are into hogs and big 'uns on the back...

There will come a time when 170+ horsepower and sore knees are gonna be too much. I think the first iteration of the Busa is a classic -- like a 40 Ford coupe -- they really remind me of that car. And seeing as so many 99 -- 07 Busa's are getting chopped, dropped and popped, they are gonna be worth big bucks someday...

One of my best friends has had 2 Harleys over the past 4 years and kept telling me that I should get another bike so we could ride together. I hadn't had one for a number of years. So I went out and bought another sport bike (the Busa) cause that's what I like. He never came over to see it. I had to go to his house. I've only ridden with him twice and that's cause I called him. He doesn't ask or call me to ride.??? He went to Washington DC for a rally Memorial Day weekend with his Harley friends and when he got back he had to tell me all about it and said they were going to Mt Washington for a long weekend in a few weeks and I asked him to let me know when so I could join them. Never heard anything till last weekend when he told me how good the trip was.:moon:I think the Harley vs sport bike thing might be a problem for him and he just can't admit it, or at least in front of his other "Harley friends" he can't. What ever! So now I just don't try to call him to ride anymore or talk bikes with him. His actions speak loud and clear where he stands. Maybe they just brain wash themselves?

They don't give me any **** when I Ride the BUSA !!!!!!!!! I think Most True HARLEY GUYS give Respect to the BUSA

When I Ride the M109R Limited I think I Just Piss them Off

The funny thing I run into here in Northern Va is the HD riders that put a value of how cool your bike is by how much $$ they cost and how much you have in them. Since my Busa was around $11k new, these HD riders see my bike as no more than a glorified sportster, cost wise. The fact I do ALL my own wrenching really saves me alot of money and so I usually don't have a whole lot into my bikes. But, no matter, it's always money and how much you spent. Typical thinking from the DC area.

Many years ago I was riding a Vespa Scooter and it broke down. A Harley guy stopped and put the scooter in the truck and took me to his house. We worked on it for a few hours. His friends all rumbled up on thier HOGS and one of them yelled "Eeewwww......Mikey, get away from that thing! It's DIRTY!" They all laughed  Lots of jokes about sewing machine with wheels etc. But they got it running. After some good wheelies in the street and several pictures they handed it back to me and waved good bye.

Only if i wouldve known.... I made the trip with a buddy of mine about a month ago to MT. Washington. It was supposed to be about 6 of us, but all but one bailed out on me.... Would've loved to have you. I'm planning one possibly in October but we'll see how the weather holds up. Maybe next year.
I'll keep you informed.

I've got a buddy that I used to ride with before I bought the Busa. He had an 80-something Honda 450 and I had a Bandit 1200s that he always coveted. When I bought my '06 I asked the dealer what the trade-in on the Bandit was then told my buddy I would sell it to him for that amount. The deal was done and he and I would ride together from time to time, both of us were pretty adament about wearing all the gear.

A few months a go he comes pulling up my driveway on a 105th anniversary Super Glide. I looked at the bike and complimented him on his new ride and asked where his gear was, he just smiled. We made plans to ride a few days later and we met up at his house this time. I'm all geared up and he walks out in jeans, t-shirt, tennis shoes and some shades. I asked him if being cool was now more important than being safe and he just smiled and got on his bike. That was the last time we rode together.

I have to admit that I do like the rumble that a stock Harley makes running down the highway but then I like the old big block muscle cars and they sound they make too. I don't think I will ever buy a HD because I think the metric bikes offer better qaulity and dependibility for the $$$.
