What exhaust are you getting?

I also read those Akra cans had catalytic converters in them so they could remain Euro 5 compliant.

I also read the gen 2 exhausts fit with slight tweaking like @Jgarcia6988 mentioned.

As the Gen 3 uses the same motor as the gen 2, I can't see why the exhaust would deliver less performance...
Motors are not the same in all aspects intake is different and designed for midrange power , not top end so exhaust would need to change also.

Whew, you sure waited a long time to comment on that....

We didn't have much data to go with when I posted that-since then Chris Moore and others have already proven that adding an exhaust system helps open the bike up...they also added a free flowing air filter.

Chris should throw a turbo in it and start posting some new data.
I think that's more trouble than it's worth.
Setting up a turbo on a stock ecu,
with the hope that the ecu will be unlocked in the near future, making going turbo much easier than it would be right now.
Moore also tunes A/F through the ecu, he's not just a Power Commander and Bazazz guy.

OK LOL then I will withhold my comments about comparisons to the Gen2 ZX-14 that had no serious ECU barriers. I'll just say Suzuki should have made a new busa with 200 stock hp. I'm sure they must have left a path to turbo the Gen3 because what good is the beefed up motor without that? The stock Gen2 busa motor was already great and pretty turbo friendly too.

Just to clarify , Akrapovic offers 3 exhaust types , the 4-2-1 is race , not for street officially (no catalytic converter), the 4-2-1-2 dual full system (also no cat) , and the slip-ons with or without cat .The Akrapovic mufflers fitted to ZX14R and available for Gen 3 Busa by factory or dealership swap , have the cat installed to comply with euro 4 and 5 .

I ripped this pic from another thread here.
Full dual cf Akropovics(my favorites).
But I was suprised that it said the owner had custom inserts(db killers) made, as they are not available from Akropovic.
Which is strange since they are available for the gen2 full duals.

Boggles my mind how someone pays $1500 for pipes that do nothing..when a full system actually gives you something for your money..

I weighed my pipes vs my new system, I took off 38 lbs legit...thats a lotta weight.

performance gains 2 ways, weight, and hp..more when I can get it on a dyno and set it up..

If you are in a communist area where they insist on converters and this euro 5 bullshit, leave them stock, save your dough for something that works.

Everyone back in 08 thought the Gen 2 wasn't going to be a good turbo bike because of the valves. Boy, were they wrong. Suzuki knows what we do with these things. I will be one of the first to go turbo when it becomes available. For now..... (since my new post was on the last page)

Brocks now has pipes! Just got my penta carbon today. Go buy one!

Can I ask you , what Yoshi model pipe you ordered from Japan , was it a full ti exhaust ?
No, slip-ons. At the time I ordered much earlier this year that was all that Yoshi' Japan were advertising on their website - I had similar on my previous Gen 2 - haven't checked if they've now produced a full system as well. Had a full Akro' system on previous ZZR(ZX-14R) and liked that too. Incidentally, here in the UK I'm now paying less for the Akro' full system than the Yoshi' cans!

...I have a full Yosh system and have no problem getting the oil filter out...there's a little wiggling involved but it is a matter of seconds to switch out oil filters. Glad the gen 3 addressed the pain in the arse of taking the entire side fairing off...
I missed a lot of this thread but since I just caught up on it I'm gonna respond to this:laugh:. With my yoshi alpha t "race" exhaust you do have to remove the oil line in the side in order to get the filter out no matter how much you wiggle it there's just no being out or because the header is so close. Also the one actual downfall is that I can no longer used the cap style filter wrench because of the header which makes tightening out a pain because I won't put filter pliers on a new filter to install it.

Mine's an R77 system...glad I have that one I guess as I can get the filter out with a bit of wiggling...

Sounds like a win for sure , their are only good things to say about Akrapovic imho . With Yoshi Japan , personally I go through the Webike Japan supermarket , you can inquire about anything they list or even any motorcycle part Japan makes that is not listed . Not always able to score the desired piece , but I have had good luck there .
