What should we do about this?

I am of the opinion that guns, explosives, knives, etc are not the cause of mass killings, but people like this are. This is a current news story from the town adjacent to Chattanooga where I grew up, and where much of my family still lives. This person lives about two minutes walking distance from Spring Creek Elementary School and a hospital.

What should we do about individuals like this who present a clear threat to public safety, but have not yet acted on it? Link below.

We want an overhaul of the mental health issue, but we do NOT want to go back to the barbaric forms and institutions of even 40 yrs ago. just because life has you down and your under alot of stress and not sure how you are going to deal with life, does not label you as "mental" and banned from guns( for life) or committed. All it used to take was just one persons say so and a Beauracratic doctor and your life is ruined. We all saw "one who flew over the coo coos nest" we need folks to get help and healthy but removed from access to hurt others. Not labeled shunned and disassociated.

Um he said he wanted to blow up the nearby school.

Did y'all not see that?

What should be done? He should be locked up until he realizes you can't say crap like that.
Put him in a boot camp? Put him on the show 'Scared Straight' and let him loose in the yard for a while.
But nothing will be done and he will wind up hurting someone before he gets what's coming.

Blanca, i want my "spokesperson" retainer back, cause dude you suck!! Lol

if he comes out and threatens you Call 911 and they will send him back home. What a joke! I say if that happens take care of it then and forget about it. This is going to turn out bad, count on it

Call his mom and send him home after he threatens to blow an elementary school up and you're worried about labeling him as crazy so he can never own a gun? I don't get that at all Chris.

i wasnt talking about him or his case....was talking about people in general..and how bad the mental health system was. people go through bad times in their lives...as long as they are not threatening others..(suicidal) and they get help or get past the "stress" that got them down enough to think that way, if we ban them from ever owning a weapon again or lock them up and throw away the key...that wont help them either. or us, as anyone could "label" anyone a mental health risk

Speaking of mental health and treatment... Just about all the medicines have adverse effects warnings. It's a kinda damn if you do and damn if you don't situation. :banghead:

Well, he is a disabled person so we cant do anything according to the law. Seriously, the cops could arrest him for making terrorist threats and get him in the system, something not adding up here. His mother seems to be doing right, now the system needs to so right, this is where the system fails. I am sure the local cops are being judicious in making the call.

In this case he already has and I'm sorry if you say out loud 'I want to blow up a school' you need to be put away for a while until a team of mind freaks can make sure it's safe to let you walk the streets again.

It's called "making terroristic threats' and holding for a psych eval seems reasonable.

What will happen is nothing until he shoot someone. The response will be to take away more of the evil guns.

There needs to be some proactive due process that allows law enforcement to have people like this institutionalized. As Chris mentioned, it needs to be a better process than historically existed to railroad people into mental camps.

did you watch the video?...he said and i quote "if this passes im going to start killing people"..... well... at that point they can reasonably deny him his concealed permit....yes he pulled the video off you tube but still its the point.

Yeah I seen it before on another forum, he should have chosen his words better. Our government has freedom loving people on edge, no reason to over react like our politicians are though. I would hope they remove and deport any foreigner who advocates the undermining and revocation of the Constitution with the same speed, it is traitorous (criminal) in my view. Same could be said for a senator who is outright trying to attack many sections of the Constitution and the BOR, they are traitors to their oath and should at a minimum be removed from office and jailed if found guilty..
