Where and How to get your Motorcycle Endorsement!

Ohio... Motorcycle Ohio
"Basic Rider" Course recommended. When I took it it was $25...6-9 pm on Thursday for a classroom session of videos and info...Saturday and Sunday were full days...on their bikes (250cc "minicruisers") and gas included. They even provided helmets if you did not have your own. Over the ankle boots and gloves (of any kind) required. You will need to take your written test first. Get the book at your local license bureau...the book has bike-specific stuff that you may not know without reading book.

i got my motorcyle endorsement when i was 18 in 86 here in pa. been rideing with my hair on fire since

In Idaho I just had to take the written and a basic skills test. There is no steps for the license so you can take the test on a moped and then jump on a Hayabusa the next day. I took the test on my 650 Nighthawk, which I rode for years.

Re: Where and How to get your Motorcycle Endorsement!

Back in 1978 I bought my 1st bike (a used Honda 500-4) and my friend on his bike and I rode over to the DMV in Chattanooga, TN. We took the writen test and the person that gave the driving test was out and because we rode to the DMV, the girl figured we could ride and gave us our Licenses. TA DA.

Well 4 bikes later, I sold my last bike and kept wanting to get another one. I let my license lapse. So back in 2003 I was talking to my wife about getting a bike to save on gas. I was wanting a big bike but figured I'd need to start small and was looking at a Honda Elite and she looked at it and said no way was she going to let me ride that toy, that I needed to get a real bike of a decent size. And then she said in the next breath that if I was going to get one she wanted one too and we should both go get re-endorsed.

So we both got our endorsement and both started with 800cc cruisers. Within a few months we both realized we needed a larger bike to tour and ride on the interstate. So she got a 2004 1500 Vulcan Classic and I got an 2003 Honda Blackbird CBR1100XX. Now 1000s of miles later and after lots of riding it's 09 and we both have been looking for a new bike. I had looked at the Busa for a while and Honda doesn't make a large Sport Bike anymore. So we both started looking at the Busa's. I found a great deal and she was still trying to decide. A month later she found one at the dealer that had been lowered and she could sit on.

TA DA we both have an 09 Busa and that's my story in way too many words.

took mine in kokomo IN. in a kinda sketchy parking lot in some kind of an industrial park. i was the only on on a hayabusa and i was surrounds by a sea of Harley Davidson lol

Re: Where and How to get your Motorcycle Endorsement!

I went trough Team Oregon, a motorcycle safty course. They take you from the very basic of telling you were the clutch lever is all the way up to knee draging turns.

Also any national guard memeber can get all of the msf course (basic, advance, etc) for free if you go thru your company safety officer, just ask them and they should have all the info... plus my state (colorado) gives you a sick ICON mil spec vest after you complete one so that you dont have to wear that ugly vest on base..

Though it is mandatory in FL, i been riding for years, pulled over a few times, cops here dont care about it so i never got one.

Re: Where and How to get your Motorcycle Endorsement!

In TX it is mandatory to take the class to the tune of $195.00. Waiting for a class to come up on the schedule so i can get it done

Re: Where and How to get your Motorcycle Endorsement!

Got mine at Smokey Point in Washington State. $5 and a test ride, pretty easy for those riding a while. PM me for details.

Re: Where and How to get your Motorcycle Endorsement!

I did the MSF course here in Phoenix, and the money spent was well worth it to get me back into riding after a 20-year absence. I did not need the test waivers, though, since I already had my endorsement from 1992. Now that we're talking about the course, shall we go and see if we can beat the box?

Re: Where and How to get your Motorcycle Endorsement!

Probably enough said already but utilizing a community college was the best for me! It cost about $200 and consumed an entire weekend but I'm really glad I took "The Course". I will take it again in a few years just for fun but it will be during the spring or fall next time, the summer Texas heat was brutal and therefore we got started at sun up.

Re: Where and How to get your Motorcycle Endorsement!

Knee dragging for the street ????!!!!!! Really????? Only a track day riding course maybe but never a certified MSF course dude, com on!

Re: Where and How to get your Motorcycle Endorsement!

Our MSF course was at a grade school parking lot and we had to take the practical on 250cc cruiser type bikes....... Most of the people had never ridden a street bike before and was giving me strange looks when I pulled up on my busa  There wasn't dragging of any knees matter a fact the instructors got nervous when you took it over 20mph!!!
