Who Rode Today?

Rolling out in 15 minutes. Will see how many miles when we get home Sunday evening.

No time for pics, but I picked up a measly 120 miles over the last couple of days due to the nice weather.
Had a nice "pucker factor" at 0530 this morning when I went around a corner and found out that a truck ahead of me lost a bunch of paving stones in the road way

I got in 236 Smiles today. Felt the need, the need for SPEED! I took a different route around the flats and foothills and into the Park via 120. Rode out thru the El Portal exit where the road follows the Merced River canyon. You can get past 100 in the straights and the curves can allow 75-95 mph as well. I love those high speed sweepers! Of course, if I screw up I’ll end up in the river or smashed against the mountain side. Traffic, what little there was was easily manageable. The Busa really shines from 7,500 revs and up. :firing: The pics don’t do it justice. You really have to see the area to...see the area, canyons, mountains, just 6,192’ today, the summit @ the edge of the park on 120, and the Merced River canyon!

This was Wednesday's Run on the V-Strom to a place called Salton Sea, then into Brawley for a refuel.

Mr Plummer was my boss like ... a hundred years ago. Amazing to find him still active, still working in Brawley, such a memorable character. The upholstery biz has been in the family for over 60 yrs. Currently owns a CB750 (but doesn't ride much anymore) and in the 70s rode a fully chopped CB750 that he bored out himself. The stories he had to tell ...

Anyone on this site use a Garmin Foretrex 601?? I found it to be reliably spotty, despite this wide open space.

Total roundtrip: ~300 mi

Tried heading west to escape the smoke and got in 170 miles. No trees out there, just flats. Actually rode on a freeway! Hand done that in ages. Looked down just loping along I thought, and was doing 105! Most of what little traffic there was were running 75+. Sadly, no escape from the smoke cloud. All depends on the which way the wind blows I guess.
