Back on the Zed14 today , gave the new sprocket a bit of test . Was going to head out to the hills , but piked it cos of ominous rain clouds . Ended up stopping on the way home at the urban ghetto , to take a pic and hang out awhile because I had launched tested it from a couple nearby set of lights .

and since you own both, and have modified away all their shortcomings;
Pros vs cons?

I got out for a ride before it got too hot...did a favorite backroad of mine..I'm always cautious on this one due to the trees being so close to the road and @Mythos little brown buddies lying in wait to jump onto the road...

I noted two sets of headlights quickly gaining on my six so I pulled over to the right allowing them to go by...and they did at a ripping speed...I watched them and saw their brake lights come one and the rear ends get squirrelly.....

When I caught up to them, they were on the side of the road catching their breath...apparently 3 deer crossed right in front of them.....I also noted they were wearing jeans, sneakers, no gloves and mesh jackets.

They said they wondered why a guy on a Hayabusa was going so slow and were surprised to get by me so easily...I said there are lots of deer around here and the thought of having one take me out is not very appealing...that's why I wear full gear in the heat and take my time...

We chatted for a few minutes and off we went, they still took off like a shot probably not learning much of a lesson...

On my way home I spotted a field full of sunflowers...I grew around 6 plants at home for spits but this is a few more than I can manage..

You're the kind of person who learns from observing mistakes made by others. I'm often amazed at kids who see a friend suffer the consequences for making bad choices and then they turn right around and do the same thing only to suffer the consequences too. I guess some of us adults do it too. "What are the odds...?" I guess the odds are pretty good if it already almost got you a time or two.

Well both machines feature much the same mods , so straight up , the more modern designed ZX14R is the better all round handling bike of the 2 , It can handle every type of road well , some very well , it feels overall more flickable and responsive to rider input on the power . Power wise , this bike feels 20 whp+ more than my Busa , feels lighter than the Busa , but actually may not be quite as light .
The Busa , before I changed the recent ride position , was also good on all roads , very good on fast flowing roads . It was heavy on steering in tight corner roads , but competently handle these roads well enough too .
The recent changes I have made , and including the 47t gearing , has opened up a new dimension of ride ability for me , the Busa now really shines in tighter corners , with medium speed flowing turns the best fun I have ever experienced on any bike . The bar setup now allows great turn in ability and I can easily , really make it stick to any chosen line . It is still has that heavy rock solid planted feel , but the wide bars now enable astounding flickability . The Busa now definitely has the edge over the ZX14R on this type of road , and will certainly hold its own in the 160kph + roads . I suspect only to ever lose sight of the Kawasaki if the country opens up to 200 kph + roads , not only to lose a bit here because of gearing and aero changes I made , the Zed14 is just outright faster here .
The Busa with said changes is now the most comfortable to ride , I want to ride it all the time . The Zed14 is still very comfortable , and was the best before the Busa change up .

Not me , but got offered a ride my mates new Busa !! He called in for a surprise as I was Ieaving the house , taking Ol'Ma and the boy out for a drive .... Anyway should of rang .... , but first to see his new bike and man was he happy , what a beauty she is too he is a real Busa enthusiest , he has 4 Busa now !! . I do love the black , in the flesh even more so , maybe black is now my fav . That tail end looks good and so does that tricky dash , a real polished machine throughout , like a thoroughbred sports car . I had a sit on it , and it feels nice and fairly light , the bars are narrow , compared to my Busa , it sure felt pretty nice I can tell you now . I am really looking forward to swapping rides with him .
This is that bike in the Kessners showroom I mentioned somewhere on here , you can see it has a few factory extras , like the screen and seat . I suggested a ride next week maybe , I can now run either of my bikes with this machine once he has run it in and dialed in the suspension . He is well in the stock suspension weight parameters , so will be easy .

Looking forward to your ride report Toad :)

....only 4 Hayabusas.....LOL!

Be interesting to hear his thoughts on it once he gets it all sorted out.

The black is nice but I think all the polishing and cleaning would be tiresome...I owned a black pick up truck once....what a pain in the rear to keep clean.
I got 2 black bikes bro , lucky they are glossy and relatively easy to wipe over , at home , but yes , people look at them with their fingers . I reckon the matt or flat finishes might be even more work , sort of slow polish up over time cleaning them if not done correctly I heard .
I got to say Sarge , I am looking forward to riding the Gen 3 , to get some perspective of how it compares to my modded bikes .

Right off the bat, you have a huge advantage as both of your bikes are pretty heavily modded....you should ride a stock Hayabusa before you ride the gen 3 for a real comparison...

A friend of mine who owns a dealership and used to have Suzuki recently rode a gen 3.....

He said the gen 1 was a huge revelation in motorcycling...it was a ferocious beast with the ZX12R nipping hard at it's heels...then the gen1 ZX14 came along and surpassed it. Suzuki made the gen 2 which was more refined, handled better and had more power than a gen 1. Then the ZX14R came along and surpassed it.

He said the gen 3 comes along and is more refined than the gen 2 and now that the ZX14R is dead, there is no competition for it so Suzuki didn't have pressure to get it to go faster so they made it more streetable and easier to ride for the target audience of older riders...

He recently rode a gen 3 which was broke in and ready to fly...he mentioned it is a nice bike although he really would have to ride the other generations back to back to really feel any difference...he said the mid range is ferocious but recalls both the other generations weren't exactly slow either. he said it handles good but the other bikes would handle well too-tires and set up are the key. He mentioned it's brakes are really good but the later gen 2 with Brembos were pretty good as well.He really didn't like the fact Suzuki went to the parts bin and put BKing MCs on it...he thought they should have used either Brembo MCs like other bikes or come up with better MCs.

He doesn't like Bridgestone tires and thought the S22Rs would be one of the first things he'd change, he said they are a soft short life tire (I had the S21Rs on mine when I got it and they lasted one season).

For the price he said it should have come with Ohlins-maybe at the same level as the ZX14R had. The dealer told him the hump was an option and he thought that was a petty thing for Suzuki to do.

Yeah , I know it wont be a fair comparison if directly pitted against my things , but that is not how I will approach a Gen 3 ride . It will be a review of the base platform bike , what you get for AU$28K , what its potential promises , how well the basically factory blue printed motor fares in stock configuration . The S22R are said to be very good tires , and imho , grip over life span always wins , but my choice and how I ride is why . I would expect them to be good performers on winding roads even with Busa power steadily wearing them down .
The Stylema Brembo calipers are industry standard for top shelf Italian cycles , I am really looking forward to trying them with the 320mm update rotor .
Should be a great experience , riding and just having the Gen 3 along for rides .

Cool, I knew you would give us all the details.
I'm not really suprised either, as I know the gen2 zx14 has a little more power than the gen2 Busa.
I've never ridden a gen2 zx14, only sat on a new one at the dealer(a New one at the dealer, lol, has it been That Long Ago?!?!)
I can flatfoot the Busa sitting on it with slightly bent knees. The zx14 had me on my toes, but I expected better corner tip-in as a result.
The zx14 seemed built for a large person(which I'm sure you like, and need).
I could care less about biased reveiws on both bikes from brand loyalty, so it's nice to hear real world truths on each, from a real bike guy with both.
Maybe I'll get a ride on a gen2 zx14 yet, but thanks for taking the time to break it down for us Toad.
