Who Rode Today?

What can I say except…ya shoulda been there! :D Here’s some pics but none of them do the area justice. You have to ride it to really take it all in and even then you’ll want to ride it again, which I did, both directions. It’s only 26 miles or so and it parallels 101 all the way and crosses over 101 and the very low Eel River. The one shot shows 101 on the left and the Avenue on the right. Scenery is about the same but on the Avenue you ride much slower. See the fish on the Immortal tree? That’s how high the Eel River flood was in 1964, about 20’ above the base of the tree. Notice anything odd about the motel pic? The ocean pics are what you see as you come out of the woods on hiway 1 from Leggett, where hiway 1 ends, or begins, depending on your direction. About 20 miles of Smiles between 101 and the Pacific. View attachment 1640265 Up down left right times a zillion! Some banked and some off camber. Harleys scrape in some of the corners as do trailers and trucks. View attachment 1640266View attachment 1640267View attachment 1640268View attachment 1640269View attachment 1640270View attachment 1640271View attachment 1640272View attachment 1640273View attachment 1640274View attachment 1640275View attachment 1640276View attachment 1640277View attachment 1640278View attachment 1640279View attachment 1640280View attachment 1640281View attachment 1640282View attachment 1640283View attachment 1640284View attachment 1640285View attachment 1640286View attachment 1640287View attachment 1640288View attachment 1640289View attachment 1640290View attachment 1640291View attachment 1640292View attachment 1640293View attachment 1640294

Perfect day for a ride, 70ish out, clear skies and a little wind...the bike was feeling frisky with the cool air...

On my way home I got stopped at a police roadblock...apparently there was an accident and the rider and passenger of a bike were seriously injured...

I did a U turn and booked it another way home....when I got here I saw the Ornge air ambulance heading in the direction I just came from...

When I was at the roadblock, I saw a few bikes (cruiser style) sitting by the side of the road...I figure it was a group ride and one of the bikes got too close to the edge of the road and got sucked into the soft shoulder...

Got out with my friend Alex on his new to him 2007 HD Ultra classic. We went to dinner and ran into my frien Kenny . 69 retired and still road racing . Alex started out as my Dentist . View attachment 1640439View attachment 1640440View attachment 1640441View attachment 1640442
One thing I'll say about HD is they are extremely popular and are everywhere....

Around here they are the number one bike on the road, generally if you see a bike, it is either an HD or a cruiser of some sort, sport bikes are very rare around here and Hayabusas are extremely rare...I might have the only one in the entire region I live. Once in a while someone will come along and know what it is and be excited they actually saw one.

My oldest BMW riding brother despises HD bikes unless they are war-era bikes. He said at least with a bike that old you expect it to be unreliable.

99% of the Hardly Ableson riders in my area have magic magnets in their tires...they pull them to the painted line in the middle of the road(no lines, no problem...still ride the middle), then their dumbass gives you the stink eye, when they have to swerve or duck the truck mirror, because their head and part of the bike and their body is literally in the oncoming lane, especially curves and blind corners.
It's gotten alot of them, and killed several.
I don't get it.
No harm to anyone, but HD "riders" are by far The Worst group of 'no business near a motorcycle' I've Ever seen(consistantly in 26 years of street/sportbike riding).
I honestly prefer sportbike squids, as at least they are entertaining.
Here, you wear your HD everything, with your ear bleeding pipes and 400 miles of poker runs and bar hopping, so you can stop and talk all things HD, and all see who has the loudest bike.
The best part is when they catch you in traffic, nail it...and cuss and swear when you fly past them, lol.
Ride stupid, you'll probably die, or wish you had(applies to me too).

Hardly-Ableson Motorcycles
The most efficient way to convert gasoline, into noise...without the side effects of horsepower.

Agreed! happens often where I live. There are a lot of Harleys riding around and the groups always like to take the left lane up and go slightly below the speed limit. Then as I'm passing them, they all stare at me like I'm doing something wrong.
I don't get why they always ride 2 abreast in the same lane...no room for them to swerve to avoid potholes or any emergency..

I suppose that's why so many go down, I think they hit each other in the same lane quite often.
