About 100m today, all freeway, which is ok, except that I am now spoiled. Hit some traffic, had to slow to around 70, found myself getting impatient. I actually started complaining about that, to myself, then realized ...

This guy said nice bike! I said, stay right there while I take a pic but don't touch anything. He was saying, I'm not gonna touch your bike, old-timer, when I took this shot ... kids these days ...

I rode a few miles on 99 the other day and was pleasantly surprised to have it mostly to myself. Most of the section is posted for 70. Hadn’t been near a freeway in months. Every road around me has one lane in each direction with occasional passing lanes. 95 is a sweet spot for me to cruise on the Busa. 5,000 revs is just loping along. 70 on a freeway in or out of traffic is s l o w. I HATE riding slow on the Busa especially down hill. Montana has 70 mph speed limit two lanes! My V1 saved me twice yesterday, one coming at me and one stationary around a curve. Got another alert but was only going 65 or so. It was a 55 zone as they all are but the CHPs wouldn’t bother for such a minor infraction. I had to follow a CHP for a few miles yesterday under 65 on a road I can normally ride at whatever speed I want. Having many more miles to go I took a break under a big shade tree and let em go.

After 5 long weeks I finally got a decent long ride today, weather was warm and winds were light, went with my 2 mates into the mountains to the the Bealey Hotel.
Very little traffic, managed to clip 270kmh in a roll on race from 100kmh with my mate on his GSXR1000K6.
Let’s just say that he didn’t pass me lol!!

Pretty scenic pictures....awesome backdrop.

Do you find that sail on the back affects you at speed? I would think it would create drag like having a parachute on the back.

To be honest, I’ve never ridden it without the “sail” on the back, and my body is covering it as I blast through the wind and air anyway, I may get a little buffering as the air swirls over my helmet and hits the “sail” but only at really high warp speeds. The acceleration of the Busa is enormous and as I said, I stayed in front of the GSXR1000K6 right until I backed off at 270.
One day I’ll ride with no pack rack and see what the difference is and report back.

I’m out now heading towards the Sonora pass. It’s closed but not till 26 miles east of Strawberry. Hoping to go that far before turning around. Pics take too long to load up here.

Get a picture of you sitting on the bike in the riding position, you must a large lad for your body to cover that thing..LOL! It's like having a big flat wing on the back of a car, the up-draft trying to lift the front end would be huge.

Hey Nath, it was great getting out into the mountains . . BUT, the threat of Police interference was always there looming large in our minds.
We encountered one on coming marked patrol car with radar running as we left Darfield going past the sawmill, I kept my speed at 80kmh even in the 100kmh zone as we crossed paths, I was ready to open the throttle if the disco lights suddenly indicated 'Party Time!!'.
Then as we passed the rock climbing area at Castle Hill, there was about 20 vehicles parked in that car parking area, AND one marked Police 4WD ute, we cruised passed at 100kmh but he was nowhere to be see, must've been questioning the rock climbing crew I reckon.
There was a lot of freight trucks and heaps of 4WD utes on the road, way more than I had expected to see.
Was a great day anyway, sad you have no bike at the mo' mate, won't be long though eh.
