Who uses a Hose with water to clean Bike? I never

Speaking of washin' (I should probably do this in another thread but here goes)...I don't get the "bike wash" by the babes thing.

OH I get the babe thing...but I can not see riding up and with my bike raving hot, letting some bimbo squirt the crap out of my bike with cold water, then rub the crud encrusted rag (that just got used to wipe the grim off someones wheels) all over Celine.

And wont the ice cold water on your nice heads and block fug and warp something

I was riding by a local bar and I saw about 6-8 Daisy Duke shorts looking hotties doing the bikewash thing...it was tempting...nah. Maybe next time I'll just go in and let wash someone else bike though

blow dry? Never wet?

The Busa is a great bike, but my word..
I like to ride my bike, rain or shine. And every few months whenI start to forget the color I'll hose it down.

And I would never turn down a wet soap young lady looking to rub my bike!

Whats the point of owning such a fine machine, if you don't use it?

Living here in Southern Cal. we don't get a whole lot or rain. Anyway I never, never, never use a hose. Just a damp rag and a dry one.............

I use the hose too. I don't use the jet nozzle thing but it doesn't bother me to get it wet. Only thing I worry about is not putting water directly on the gauge cluster. Probably wouldn't hurt anything but just doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

I pressure wash my swingarm and chain area. You know the ares that get really greasey. But the same pressure washing system let me do a nice fine mist over the rest of the bike similar to the spot free rinse at a car wash.

30K miles and always use the garden hose. Not a problem. I do use the leaf blower to get the tough areas to dry. Silkolene Pro Prep afterwards. Still looks like new.

(FalconofFreedom @ Jun. 14 2007,07:31) Air Compressor on Dusty bike.............also good for the amateurs who use hose and water.....

I would not want a used bike from a person who washed their bike like a car..................................I have seen to many fuel injection connectors that were corroded on newer bikes that had owners that were using water to wash their bike.
I've got your amateur right here.

If your spraying water hard enough at your bike to get into the FI system, then that person needs to learn to use a water hose.  When mentioned that I use a water hose, it's not on a full blast stream. I use enough to rinse the bike off.

They don't melt.

I only use lemon pledge and a clean soft cloth to buff it up!
It removes dirt and waxes all in one step, I never use a hose!

No water and hose for me. I use a microfiber cloth and honda spray polish or yamaha spray polish since honda doesn't make that anymore. Doesn't really matter cuz the yamaha stuff is better. Takes the gunk off your rims real easy. And I use the plastic cleaner protectant. I forgot what it was called.

I give it a quick cleaning after a bug filled day. The only time I use a hose is to clean the brake pad rotor area. I spray on some brake dust cleaner type stuff and hose it off.

I always wash with a bucket, hose, and S100. Never spray directly at the gauges and I never shove the hose under the plastics or under the tank in any way that water would even be able to reach the FI system. Then I use a "Cycle Dryer" and lube the chain afterwards. Use Quick detailer to get bugs off and wash it about once every couple weeks.

My bike gets washed with a hose. All my bikes have and will always. Otherwise your just moving around sand and dust particles that scratch the finish.

I also ride my bikes. If it rains and I get caught in it, I keep riding. The grime washing off.

Bucket of hot soapy water and a hose to rinse her off..

I don't hide under the bridges when it rains either, I just dial it in a little more to keep the rain off the shield..

Water will not harm her..

I've washed her once w/ the hose and a bucket.

I covered up the gauges & the ignition.

Afterwards.. dried her off w/ microfiber towel and let her sit in the sun for just a little bit to let the heat help.

Prolly won't do it again though. She was just really dirty because of some unexpected and unannounced road paving (jerks). Couldn't be avoided.

I've been washing my bikes that way for 30+ years never had a problem. No power washing though and I never spray water directly at the chain or guages. shammy to dry and idle the engine to dry places I can't reach.

Did you ever ride in the rain?
