Who uses a Hose with water to clean Bike? I never

OK i am a little confused, after reading this whole thread i have come to the conclusion that most if not all of you do this thing you call "wash" your bike. I don't see the point since you can't see the dirt when i blast past you at excessive speeds.

JK, i wash it regularly with a bucket of soapy water and garden hose. I figuire if you can park it outside in the rain then it won't hurt it to hose it off.

I also am a bike washer. Wash it when I wash my other vehicles, then polish or wax (if its been 3 months or so). I have never had a bit of problem in all the bikes i've owned. People that do spray water directly under tank and into electronics and under the fairings are asking for it I believe. Kind of like those people that spend 8 hours driving and decide to immediately wash their cars and then pop the hood to wash the motors. I think common sense goes a long way to.

I just think it's too bad Suzuki never considered that be bike could be in wet conditions (IE rain/hose) when they were doing all that testing prior to production.

idiots... if only they had know that the bike may possible get wet one of these days.

... are you guys serious with this spray washer in a can stuff or just putting bait out there to see who bites?

Nothing like smearing chemical mud around with a towel to make some really nice swirl marks in the paint.

I like the concept of not washing only because the water is a pain to get out of some of the places.  Like several others have mentioned I also ride rain or shine so here is how I clean my bike.

1. Clean with a spray wax and/or a detailing spray before every ride.  This is done at least every other day and sometimes daily this way the bike stays very clean and it only take a few minutes to wipe everything down.
2. I break out the hose and bucket anytime I get caught in the rain, (in Louisiana that is once or twice a week this time of year) soap and water is the only way to go when it comes to removing road grime.

1. WD-40 Sprayed on swingarm and frame.
2. power washed on mist setting all around to get dirt soaked.
3. Microfiber cloth with soapy lukewarm water.
4. powerwasher on mist setting.
5. Leaf blower with filter attached to it.

15 minutes and she is shiny again.

good wax once a month.

I`m lazy I don`t want to spend hours of my time I`d rather be riding.

A quick blast down the road after washing will get the water out of those hard to reach places.

Wash - leaf blower - residual water elimination via excessive speed

I wash it with a hose, then take it for a quick spin to get the water off LOL

(05BusaLe @ Jun. 14 2007,21:17) I only use lemon pledge and a clean soft cloth to buff it up!
It removes dirt and waxes all in one step, I never use a hose!

Do you get the lemon fresh scent while riding?

Water hose here as well.

I use two buckets: one with mild car wash soap and sponge to clean, another with plain water and sponge. I use WD-40 and paper towels for the grimey grease areas (wheels, lower cowlings, undertail-chain side) then clean it all up with Honda spray polish.

I use wd-40 to clean tar and chain lube off. Then I use Meguaires quick detailer and scotts paper towels to clean the rest of the bike. Its fast and easy.

(FalconofFreedom @ Jun. 15 2007,18:54) I windex & wax after every ride..........yes I am excessive compulsive.

me on the other hand maybe a bike wash ever two weeks and she is good as new

I use a car wash soap with water, then blow dry with air force dryer; trouble spots are touched up with Honda Wax and Polish. Once a year, the bike gets a complete polish.

Sorry I gotta laugh.

Rains everday in florida, if you live here, either your bike is a garage queen and you never ride...or it gets wet. Rained on me today as a matter of fact...I ride daily.

Oh wait...Celine does look dull

NOT!

IMHO water will not hurt a bike (as long as the bike is properly maintained), it's part of life.

I also think that taking a rag and rubbing the dirt around probably causes more paint damage in the area of scratches than just washing the thing with a quality soap (Zanio rules

)

Now that statement to me is absolutely amazing! Good thing I live in the desert, I guess, because I would NEVER allow even one drop of rain to touch my bike!
And as far as washing goes..............immediately after every ride, I wipe her down with a damp cloth, then dry with another clean dry cloth. She gets a coat of wax every week which keeps her looking showroom floor new!
