why is the busa so heavy

my busa with me =200#s extra now my wife is 6 foot tall and an additional 175 #s but both of us on it and thats 375$ extra weight and she still hauls butt and does wheelies...

Depends on the API gravity of the gasoline, which varies by grade and refinery. Usually, regular unleaded gasoline has a gravity of around 58 and a weight per gallon of 6.216 pounds per gallon. Premium gasoline may have a gravity of 54, or 6.350 pounds per gallon.

stock curb dry weight is 478#s 480#s on california model
Suzuki Cycles - Product Lines - Cycles - Products - Hayabusa - 2007 - GSX1300R
6.35 x 5.5 gallons is 34.925
plus 4 qts oil
gallon plus of antifreeze
brake fluid
etc
the new exhaust is 12 #s which is allot lighter then the stock cans for sure...

either way its lighter, even if its only 8-12#s I can tell... but then I put on schinko tires and they are a bit heavy...

what's funny is what you are saying does add up

but even at 50 lbs of fluid, it still doesn't drop a 550 lbs bike to 478 lbs. They're talking 72 lbs+ of fluid ????????? I find that very hard to believe.

now ya got me thinking.....

2001-2002 gsxr 1000's weighed roughly 430 lbs wet.

they are shown as 374.8 dry weigh - a difference of 55.2 lbs
4.8 gallon capacity
similar cooling and brake systems
fuel by standard set should weigh roughly 30.48 lbs.....roughly 4 lbs difference than the busa but almost 17 lbs total difference? Seems inflated severely on the busa's end.

cheaper...yes but damn its so much easier to order new things and so much fun putting them on. hell i could be exercising right now instead of wasting away in this chair.

LOL! Isnt that the truth! You and all the rest of us! I never thought it would take 230 lbs. to hold this chair down:laugh:

The busa is so heavy because it's a big bike for big boys, just as the ZX-14. Bigger = heavier ... that's gotta be in a physics book somewhere!

Just about everything on the bike is just a little bit beefier, from the kickstand on up.
