Why??

I assume it was because the tubing for frame, swingarm and most everything else was larger/thicker (like me *grin*). And any place where there is stress must be stregnthed. So the overall weight rises quickly.

However Suzi engineers, it would seem, could and should take measures to trim some weight...

I kind of understand what the op is saying, but the reality of it is, torque and displacement are to blame for the thicker stronger materials that help to boost the weight. I have an '05 GSX-R 1000 (arguably the best year ever) as well as an '08 Hayabusa. I honestly enjoy riding the Gixxer more for the frenetic power delivery and over all savagery. However when I want to hit high speeds all day without my crotch dissolving, ass aching or have gusts of wind pushing me into another lane...I get the Busa. I haven't see a bike yet that does what the Busa does, in a smaller package...except the ZX14 and its a piece of crap...and its the same size actually. Maybe in the future someone will slap a 1340 into a Gixxer frame...and you may just end up with a short wheel base wheelie monster...oh wait...we already have that in the form of liter bikes now.

Oh dear.................

I am slamming it?? Oh Ok whatever you say...But nicely reasoned argument you have there... Who is the one in the room with half a brain???

Yes...you ARE slamming it. And it's not the first time either. Remember this little gem sweetie? Most of us do:
Hey Guys..

I am new to the Hayabusa ..I have a 2009 and have only had it a week and I have some observations/Comments/Questions....

My previous bike was a 2006 ZX10R and I have to say that first thoughts are that the Busa is slower than my Zx??? I did have a one gear smaller Front sprocket on the ZX and I know that I should probably be thinking of a 46 rear sprocket for this bike..

I really like the smoothness of the Busa and feel it will make a great sports tourer with risers and maybe a gel seat.... but the performance seems disappointing to me so far

Am I missing something here???? ???

Differing opinions are great...and I am English, so confrontation is like fekkin' OXYGEN to me, but you obviously bought the wrong bike for you, so do us all a favour mate...stop whining, feck away off, and buy one of those wonderful litre superbikes you shoulda stayed with.

You sound like a miserable sod who is 2 years into a bad marriage. You don't like the bike! That's obvious. So stop blaming the people here who DO, sell it, and buy something you like!!!!

And laugh this one off giggles...ANOTHER winning quote of yours:
Living in Texas I have the "luxury" of choosing whether to wear my helmet or not and I must say that most often I do not... I love the feeling it gives me,,the lack of restriction of vision and the feeling of being at one with my bike...My helmet just seems to rob me of this.... Thoughts Guys?
You are an idiot. Your opinion means nothing, not because it differs from the majority, but because, well, you are an idiot!

BUT, the internet is not the place for personal quarrels dear boy. Luckily I live in Texas too. PLEASE tell me you are in the Dallas area so we can meet up and have a heart-to-heart!
