Why no help?

I suppose that I was foolish for thinking that this was one place where rasit points of view were not expressed.
So, which are the racist views? Is any talk about a group of people where the majority is black a racist discussion just because the people discussing it are not black?
Here's an example of what I meant by racist. Your response   about how tired you are of black people blaming things on being black is blatantly racist. If what you think is racist, then saying what you think is indeed racism.
Here is exactly what I wrote <span style='font-size:13pt;line-height:100%'>"I am also very tired of the "everything bad that happens to blacks is because they are black" attitude that <span style='color:red'>I see in the media</span> and also on this board at times. People need to grow up and show concern for their fellow human beings rather than trying to get some political message across.</span> "

That is not a racist statement, If I had said that all black people think that way, that would be different.

It is a racist statement. The reason you are tired of hearing it from black people is because they are black. You do not attempt to investigate the validity of the claim, probably because you do not care. If I were to say that I am tired of hearing white people on tv complaining that they can't get a job due to affirmative action, would that be considered racist? I think so, and do not hold that viewpoint, as I am not racist. You can protest that you are not a racist all you want, you obviously have issues in that regard.

The ending was so traumatic.  I'm feel so sorry for these people!

Its funny how we can storm Baghdad....with hundreds of thousands of troops in less than 48hours,     but can't get aid to New Orleans in a timely manner.
There was a lot of planning that took place over a period of time before we went into Bagdad. Look at today a week later. I think it is amazing how much has been accomplished in a week. It is a very sad situation, but I think that the american people and our president has responded very quickly and compationately. Why do people always have to point a finger at someone for a/the problem?

If you are calling me a racist, you obviously know nothing about me or what I do.

I just sat down and took the time to read through all the posts. Everyone going back and forth...
I dont like Bush. Lets just get that out there now. Not because of whats going on now, but just other sh*t.

I wont be the person here to point blame at ANYONE. Everyone has their shared responsibility. But what sucks is when you are at the top of comand. It is your fault. At least thats what I've been told. When YOU screw up at work, it makes your boss look bad, and he or she has to come up with an answer of why to their boss.

anywho. If you scroll through and read everything, you can pull 2-3 GOOD THINGS out of everyones posts. I have to say that the Moore letter made me chuckle.
Yes it does take time to get all these efforts put together, BUT everyone keeps saying that they KNEW it was going to hit days in advance, and they KNEW that the levey's couldnt withstand a hit like this. EVERYONE DROPPED THE BALL.
Some one said fix it!
And thats what we (all americans poor/rich/government/who-the-fuk-ever) should do.
Stop saying whos right and whos wrong...you can yell and have debates later
Stop saying shoulda coulda woulda...it doesnt help the here and now.
Just do the best we can to help the people in need. (shoot the ones who attempt to stop your effort)
We can point fingers and blame eachother later. And hopefully everyone can learn from mistakes made. I know that is a lot to ask for, but hey its a shot.

Said by me and Thrasher, just to name the two I can find right quick.....
The media, politicians and general ####-stirrers all over the country seem bent on applying some agenda or other to this tragedy, and that is the most distasteful part. Vultures.

Nobody here is saying not to fix it.
Nobody here is saying don't help these people.

These are being done as we are typing.

This board is great because people can express their opinions about what happened and share a view that others may not have thought of.

Just because we are debating on the board doesn't mean that we aren't contributing to the rescue and clean-up effort.

None of us want to see this happen again...

Racism is the belief that some races of men are, by nature, superior to others.

Kevin's comments do not fit the definition of 'racism'.

I really didnt mean that for those posting on the board. I ment it more so towards everyone in the media, and the politicians.

Baybe: I fully agree, though sometimes a discussion on who went wrong and where it went wrong needs to happen as it unfolds, simply because too long after, one becomes either forgetful of the issue, or completely forgets... we seem to have a bit of ADD on occasion when it comes to issues like this springing up.

For instance...

The misuse of resources in Louisiana and Mississippi has now become nauseatingly ridiculous.

http://www.sltrib.com/utah/ci_3004197

As New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin pleaded on national television for firefighters - his own are exhausted after working around the clock for a week - a battalion of highly trained men and women sat idle Sunday in a muggy Sheraton Hotel conference room in Atlanta.

Many of the firefighters, assembled from Utah and throughout the United States by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, thought they were going to be deployed as emergency workers.

Instead, they have learned they are going to be community-relations officers for FEMA, shuffled throughout the Gulf Coast region to disseminate fliers and a phone number: 1-800-621-FEMA.

...

The firefighters, several of whom are from Utah, were told to bring backpacks, sleeping bags, first-aid kits and Meals Ready to Eat. They were told to prepare for "austere conditions." Many of them came with awkward fire gear and expected to wade in floodwaters, sift through rubble and save lives.

"They've got people here who are search-and-rescue certified, paramedics, haz-mat certified," said a Texas firefighter. "We're sitting in here having a sexual-harassment class while there are still [victims] in Louisiana who haven't been contacted yet."

The firefighter, who has encouraged his superiors back home not to send any more volunteers for now, declined to give his name because FEMA has warned them not to talk to reporters.

...

Firefighters say they want to brave the heat, the debris-littered roads, the poisonous cottonmouth snakes and fire ants and travel into pockets of Louisiana where many people have yet to receive emergency aid.

But as specific orders began arriving to the firefighters in Atlanta, a team of 50 Monday morning quickly was ushered onto a flight headed for Louisiana. The crew's first assignment: to stand beside President Bush as he tours devastated areas. [/QUOTE]

This is so beyond inexcusable. Exactly who thinks this is a good use of these people? Passing out flyers and going to photo ops instead of doing the job they're all chomping at the bit to do?

Im not a racist either, but after this comment im sure you will call me one. I think the reason he can say that about some blacks, not all but some, is that blacks are the ones who say that. When is that last time you have heard a white person say that everything that happens to them is because they are white? You dont, because what happens to a white person is their own doing, just like EVERYONE else. I dont see what the difference is, white black, hispanic, mexican, we are all people who control what we do, what happens to us and how we act.

why are all these threads turning into racist bullshit?!?!?!

if your gonna discuss racial issues, do it in the .

I think that anything that has to do with the hurricane and why there isnt more help is turning into a racial thing. It shouldnt be, but it is.

And who in the he11 would have ever thought that fricken UNITED STATES CITIZENS would start raping and murdering each other and shooting at emergency crews?
What I'm about to say I don't intend as cruel, but, for a 43 year old man who seems to have been around the block more than a few times I find it hard to believe you're painting yourself as so naive...

Go to any ghetto, or any major inner city, under an emergency situation or not, and you'll see one in the same.  Absolute human garbage.  It isn't a black, white, yellow, brown, red or poverty thing and it isn't the situation driving their actions, it's truly what they are.

A friend of mine spent time in Somalia.  He said he'd rather go back to Somalia and deal with the sammies than to Troop in any major city in the US under an emergency declaration.

Disheartening.
Aughtsix, you really have some fukked up views.

"Human Garbage" in the "Ghettos", I'm sure you have never experienced poverty on any level ou fukwad. But everyone that lives in the ghetto is not a crackhead, drug dealer or rapist. Some people would legitamitly like to do better for themselves.

I notice everything you say makes you seem as if you are better than someone else and it is not necessarily race.

No matter where someone somes from it gives you no right to refer to them as garbage. If they commit crimes and ungodly acts, yes that lowers their character.

Who in the fuk are you?

How would you like being referred to as "garbage"?

I watched MSNBC last night, and they were doing an interview with some leader of something or other. It was late and I only caught the tail end of it. But what I DID catch made me sick to my stomach. The news guy kept asking if he thought it was moraly ok that these people were looting and robbing...and the guy was like yeah they're trying to survive! The news guy was like umm what does a plasma TV have to do with survival?? And the leader guy who ever he was WOULDNT ANSWER!!!
I watched and saw dead bodies floating and saw them begging people to leave their homes. Some dont want to leave and I almost cant blame them. They're afraid they're going to lose their homes!
