Why the busa?

(TIMMYDUCK @ Dec. 11 2006,12:10) King of speed isn't enough.....

Ok, lets see why else.

Great re-sale everbody wants one.

Bullet proof motors, in 4 years on this board I have only heard of 1 melt down.

You can out run Bell Jet-Ranger helicopters with a full tank of gas and a big sack.

Value, you can get all that bike, and a cup of tea for under 10k.

You look really cool doing stand-up wheelies next to the 600's, while passing them on the highway.

And each and every year Suzuki has given have us Bold New Graphics, doesn't make it confusing working on different model years.

HUGE aftermarket if that is your thing.

Plus they are just a very comforable bike to out ride everyone else on all day and night long.

The End.
Comfort was the big thing for me. I love the GSXR1Ks they are mad quick, and fun as all hell to ride, but after about 45min I'm sore from riding 1. With the Busa, i can ride for hours and my back feels fine.

ANd i'm not even that big, 5'10" and 185ish

Cadillac of sport bikes baby. Comfy, quick. Best all around bike on the market for any type of riding in my and others opinion

I feel like this is a question directed at me. I have had just about every new 1000 that has come out in the last 9 years and it was a really difficult decision to make to purchase a Busa with older technology over a new 1000. Making the decision to buy the Busa was the best decision I could have ever made as it has put the fun back into riding for me. It has power, comfort, handling and looks and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I don't find myself looking at new bikes going "I need one of those". Instead I just find myself appreciating the Busa even more. Riding double has become a lot more fun as well and to this day, other than the quality of the brakes I do not have one complaint with this bike. My Busa will be in my stable for a very long time. After 640,000 miles on roughly 20 different street bikes I can honestly say my Hayabusa is my favorite.

I have been riding for over 40 years. I have owned several new Hondas. In 1980, I bought a Honda CB900 custom. At the time it was one bad boy. It would out perform just about every thing on the road, and you could ride it all day in comfort. A few years back, I was without a bike for the first time in many years, and I wanted one bad. I have never been into Harleys, so I bought a Honda Shadow 750. It was a good bike, but it did not have the performance I wanted, and after riding it for an hour or so, my back hurt so bad I had to stop. My son called me one day, and he told me he had bought the baddest bike on the planet called a Hayabusa. On my next trip to my local bike dealer, I took a look at a busa and thought , that is one bad azz bike, but this old fart could never ride one. I asked the salesman if I could sit on one, and he said sure. I was surprised that it did not feel like other sport bikes I have ridden. I think my son about passed out the day I told him I just picked up my 05 red/black busa. That was on the last day of July, 05. I just turned over 26,000 miles on my 05. Long story short, I bought my busa because it is BAD AZZ!

My busa is cool because the brakes suck, the suspension is worse, the plastic drags every time I lean it over and every 600 in the county passes me in the corners. All my buddies run up behind a busa and say. "Oops, it's a busa! Pass him on the inside because I know he's going wide on the exit"

It's a big heavy dog but I do have an emotional attachment to my beloved busa. I'm on my fifth new busa and I look back on them like women, I loved them all. I'm anxious to see what 2008 will bring us in the busa.

Hmmm...no arguments with what's been said already.

Another perspective, though.  TORQUE!  Tons of it.  I remember my first big-block Vettes (1968, w/ 427 followed by a '70 model with a 454, both ragtops) - 10 seconds, count 'em, from 60 to 100 in fourth gear.  It made passing traffic Soooooo easy.  The Busa is the same thing 30+ years later, with all the refinements those years bring, as well.  Torque out the wazoo.

Busa = Life is Good!!!

A year ago I was about to get the 1200 bandit for touring and power, After owning my first bike; a 78 gs1000 for a year I fell in love with sportbikes. And felt a loyalty to suzukis and their history. Its a funny thing but the first time I heard of a hayabusa was while scanning the 1/4 mile times in motorcyclist magazine. I became almost intoxicated with imagining what that kind of torque and power would feel like to ride. I didnt even test drive one before I bought it! I actually drove 150 miles to see one in a show room, and when I finally did I was amazed, The "love it or hate it looks" was definatley love for me.

The next months I was obsessed with it and finally convinced my wife I had to have it. Well afer owning it for a year Ive never been happier. Theres thousands of fun possible mods, It will corner in my abililty for many years to come, Its like riding a freakin rocket, plenty of fairing for my big frame 6'1' 250lbs, and plus other people gauk at it like its an exotic. I love this bike and plan on getting the new model in 2008. And I still am having a hard time selling my old gs1000, I love it too. HAIL TO SUZUKI

Cuz it's a girl's bike (High five VA!!)

Well, I was all set for a V-Star. I had a Suzuki GS450 when I was 20, and loved the cruiser style. But then GJoker got a Busa, gave me his Katana 750. That was all it took for me to like the sport/sport-touring models.

I was leaning towards a Gixxer 1k, but I didn't like reading how easy it stood up for wheelies, I'm too old to be doing tricks and breaking bones. A 750 wasn't going to be powerful enough for me, as I'm a speed/adrenaline junkie. And the riding position on the sport bikes was a little too aggressive for my beat up back. I loved the look of GJoker's blue and silver 04, and once I started reading the .org, I caught a contact high from everyone here. Also, I'm not a petite thing, and I thought the Busa would fit me better.

GJoker let me ride his busa around the block a few times.. and I was hooked. It was comfortable, powerful, good-looking and FAST. I saw myself in a store window and I looked HOT..

.. just kidding.. but I thought it fit me perfectly.

I rode the Katana until it was paid off, then traded it for my own busa. I think it's the best all around bike there is. It can be anything the rider wants it to be, a commuter, a drag bike, a track bike, turbo, street racer... whatever. I'll ride a busa until I can no longer throw my leg over the hump. Then I'm done with bikes. You just can't have the best, and then be happy with anything else.
