Why the busa?

Great thread here....

I'm very new to the Busa. Didn't know much about it til after I bought it and found this site. Wow what a dream... I have the best all-around bike there is... and with it comes the best website a rider could dream of.

I was in the market for a badass liter bike. Wanted something good looking and fast. They are all quite comparable and couldn't decide for awhile. Looked and sat on all of them and in the end the Busa won my heart. Power, Comfort and Looks like no other. Aftermarket and history like no other. For all motorcycles.... the heavyweight champion of all time. The one to beat... the one everyone knows is King but some are in denial. I pity those for they just don't know or do not want to accept the truth.

I love my Busa and it will be with me for the rest of my days. When the new Busa comes... I will then own two.

BTW: Thanks Hayabusa.org and all the great folks that make it my favorite website.

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year....

(CAT3 @ Dec. 11 2006,16:35) Versatility, 2 up to Solo, from Drag Race champ to Track day fun, touring, style, comfort, price, ease of maintenance, product availability, longevity/reliability, power, speed, dynamic performance and aerodynamic body design, as well as the ability to go farther on a tank of gas...did I mention the comfort?

I looked at everything when I was in the market & narrrowed it down:

TL1000R - Dog
GSXR 1000 - uncomfortable
HONDA RC51 - great, but uncomfortable

I loved the RC51, but 20 minutes was all my butt could take.

My Wife finally said ride the Busa just to get it out of your system.

Handled good for large bike , very comfortable, hauls butt, looks great.

Hammered it in 1st gear going about 45 mph & the front tire came straight up.

WOW - I have to have this bike - it does everything

GOT IT - LOVE IT

I will get other bikes - looking for another 600 RR strictly for the track, but the Busa will stay put.

- Great all around bike - sportbikes are getting more and more racetrack oriented (too unconfortable, really suck to ride slow and/or for longer periods)

- Got a wife - sportbikes suck for 2-up

- Last but not least...I test-drove one...sh**, I shouldn't have done that...

Just sat on one in the showroom after sitting on many. THats all it took- I wasnt even aware of the history and magnitude of what I had just sat on. Boy what a pleasant surprise- and now I;m past break-in-- lookin for clear roads.

Why i bought a brand new 2006 busa as my first bike??
Because my testicles are bigger than most people and i wanted to prove that it IS possible to start on a big bike and live to talk about it.

Hrrrm I would have to say there are many great things about the BUSA,
I think the main reason is I was tired of being every tom bobo and harry on a 1000cc or 600cc (they all look the same!)

And everytime I was on my 1000cc and I saw the Unicorn (Hayabusa) I thought I definetly have to have one of those.. Its one of those bikes you admire every time you see it
SHOCKED.gif

And all your mates just admire you and wish they had your bike!

Because I still remember that day back in 1999 when I saw the first one anyone in these parts had ever seen. It was that classic orange/silver color scheme with the blacked out mids and plates that said the guy was nowhere near home, sitting there looking like it had been airdropped from outer space.

The owner was just suiting up and getting astride as I pulled into the gas station and I asked him what it was. He grinned and said one word, "Hayabusa," snapped his visor shut like it was the canopy of an F-4 and lit the fire. I immediately went home and looked up this fascinating new contraption on the internet and just knew someday I'd have to have one. Being used to the old Sportsters and Ducatis I'd always ridden it completely dropped a bomb on my perception of what a motorcycle could be.

Now fast forward seven years to the summer days I rode to the same worksite several times in a row...
I was sitting at a picnic table when of the older laborers at the warehouse we were rewiring asked me "what kind of bike is that you got there."

From two tables away a quiet 18 year old kid also working at the warehouse spoke up and said, "It's a Haybusa. I heard you pull in on it yesterday and ran out to look at it. I'd never heard of it before but I thought it looked really cool so I looked it up on my computer when I got home. I only ride a beat up old Harley but that thing totally blows my mind. I have to have one of those bikes someday."

And so the cycle continues.

Why the 'busa? Because it's a legend, and where else can you get a legend like that for less than 10k, much less one that will ountrun most civilian light aircraft on 87 octane?

What sold me on the busa was the looks....truely unique.
It stands out from everyother bike on the road. When I pull up beside any other bike I have to hunt for the size on the tail of the bike 600/750/1000 ect) and I have NO idea what it is until then....with the busa, you KNOW what it is a mile away

.

The rest of its +s are just icing on the cake.

Stable, great (for its size) cornering, FAST acceleration, INSANE topend, TONs of lowend torque, front tire stays down, comfortable, 50+ MPG, runs on 87 octain, rear hump keeps you from blowing off lol, and awsome breaks. Its just an all around PERFECT bike IMHO.

(RedlineStands @ Dec. 12 2006,08:36)
(Tufbusa @ Dec. 11 2006,19:44) My busa is cool because the brakes suck, the suspension is worse, the plastic drags every time I lean it over and every 600 in the county passes me in the corners. All my buddies run up behind a busa and say. "Oops, it's a busa! Pass him on the inside because I know he's going wide on the exit"

It's a big heavy dog but I do have an emotional attachment to my beloved busa. I'm on my fifth new busa and I look back on them like women, I loved them all. I'm anxious to see what 2008 will bring us in the busa.

Now that was a bit harsh!  This even coming from an R1 fanatic.

Well, I could have lied and said how every aspect of the busa is wonderful.

Well, it's not

The bus is a great all around bike but the only thing it really excels in is straight line speed (now the 14 seems to have surpassed her in this area). The old antique girl looses in every other aspect of life. Although some think it's the most comfy ride and it truely is for some but so is a GoldWing!

It's been eight years since the busa burst onto the scene taking the world by storm and has had no major updates since. It's anaquated analog instrument cluster is totally outdated (Give me a digital speedo and gear indicator, PLEASE). The tranny shifts like a bucket of bolts (Get on the Gixxer1K and see what a shift should really feel like)Still has protruding rear blinkers. The brakes and suspension are probably the poorest of any performance bike on the market today?

We who still praise this beast are living in the past and I'm as guilty as the next. It's high time to make major changes to this relic. I have high hopes that Suzuki has come to the realization that if they don't improve the busa, it will soon become a dinasour? From the whispers I have heard from Suzuki, I think we will see an amazing new busa late next year? Complete redesign! We'll see? If not, I think I have purchased my last busa until something changes other than the paint.

Harsh, you say? Well, I guess I am but technology waits on no one, not even Suzuki? Suzuki has put all their technological updates into thier Track Bikes and since the busa's sales have only increased each year, there has been no reason to make expensive improvements.

Good bike, no! Great bike, yes! But Please Suzuki, don't let us busa lovers down! Give us a taste of new technology and we promise to remain loyal
