My paint idea for my busa has changed again. Here's why...
Ok, I've been known to have one of the cleanest and lowest mileage busas on the board because I don't ride enough. (edit: Yeah, Michelle, I know!
) Seems that when I first got my busa I spent more time cleaning and polishing than I did riding it. Over time that has changed and now, more often than not, if I have some time on my hands I go ride instead of cleanin' and polishin'. Don't get me wrong, I don't neglect my girl, I just don't put cleanin' over ridin'. I save my cleanin' and tinkerin' for those rainy days when I don't care to ride. I'm doin' this in the interest of more seat time and learnin' to ride better.
Well, with all that shid said, as I work on my painter parts and prep them for paint I've been doin' some thinkin'. I think back to when she was new and cherry and how I was so afraid of scuffin' 'er up. Then I think about now. She's got some battle scars and personality marks and I'm a LOT less paranoid about takin' 'er out and spankin' 'er more often. I'm also willing to push further toward my limits and learn more because the fear of muckin' up that shiny new bodywork is fading. The perfectionist in me is realizing that she is not perfect anymore.
Ok, I finally get comfortable actually usin' 'er like she needs to be used and now I go and start a full out custom paint job on 'er. It occurred to me this past weekend that I'm settin' myself up to go through the same "don't scuff my perfect baby" scenario again, only with a twist. This time I'll be risking scuffin' a sweet ass custom paint job that would be a beeeeeeyotch to touch up/repair even if I do somethin' as simple as drop 'er in the garage.
To be brutally honest, that's just not a worry I need right now. I have vowed to get more seat time and to take some classes and probably track time to develope and refine my riding skills and I don't need ANYTHING in the way of that right now. (If it weren't thundering right now I'd be practicin' low speed maneuvers in a parkin' lot instead of typin' this...) I certainly don't need to put a custom paint job over my skills. That'd just be STUPID. I know me, too. Until that paint job got scuffed, or rashed, or whatever somehow, I would be so anal that I'd cheat myself out of the learning process I've started. It would also eat me alive to have a custom job with rash or whatever. I'd prolly put fixin' the paint over ridin' until it was fixed. Then I'd be back to square one and not wanna ride 'er or push 'er for fear of doin' it all over again...
So, the plan changes yet again. I had to come up with an idea that would be sweet, and unique to Da' Train, but also easy to match, touch up and repair, or even redo in the event that I dump it. I think I've come up with a plan that will allow me to still make it a definite one off ride but still keep it to where I can ride it however I want and risk scuffin' it without fear.
The only reason I'm even mentioning this is because I sort of pumped up the anticipation regarding my paint job because I had planned to do a real street stormer. I just didn't want you guys to think that what I will likely end up unveiling now was my idea of a full out custom. I've had several ideas that would be true show stoppers. I just can't set myself up to put appearance over function again. Trust me though, as soon as I can afford a "shop/show bike", you will get to see my idea of a true bad azz paint job.
I still think it will definitely be a sweet ass ride though. Haven't seen one done like my idea. I don't think anyone will be too disappointed.
I'm in the process of sendin' out emails to my pre-paint "approval committee" to get their reactions but I think it's a winner given the parameters I'm workin' within now, which are SWEET, easily repairable, SWEET, classy 'n' clean, SWEET, and definitely different in the details. Oh, did I mention SWEET?
Again, I just didn't want to unveil Da' Train and have ya'll be let down after all my hype on goin' a little "wild" with it. It will still be a winner, just not as wild and crazy as I pumped it up to be... Think clean, classy, and sinister with a true Hayabusa touch and see if what you picture comes close to what I end up with.
