Ok, if this is typical Rocky Mnt weather (called Ranger station) it will be nice, cool, slightly cloudy until around 1200-1300 then a meana$$ thunderstorm will come thru the area for approx 1-2 hours and then it will clear up again. Rocky Mnt afternoon thunderstorms are fun to in, if you are indoors that is. So reccommend if a storm roles in find some shelter, high altitude lightening is a great show to watch thru glass...

Afternoon thunderstorms are one of the reasons we ride early in the Southwest Rocky mtn area. the other is the afternoon heat after the storm, we aren't use to humidity like that...

Yeah unfortunately every year that I've attended this event I've either gotten rained on while there or on the ride home!

Dont rely on the forecast too heavily just yet. Forecasts in CO a week out are about as useful as a ZX-12

Hell most forecasts are not even that accurate within a couple of days. So it could go either way but this event has had rain the previous two years so bring warm riding gear and a rain suit.

oh yeah, if you are bringin some buddies with ya, you might wanna make sure you know all this same kinda info for them...

One other thing I forgot to ask, when the avalanche group meets, we usually have FRS/GMRS radios with us to keep in touch.... anyone have sets of these? I'll be bringing a few for the haul out there so we can keep in touch on the drive but some handheld ones would be cool for while we are around at the event
