08-busa project

Picking a pipe for your project is sometimes really tough to do. Wanting a megaphone type system left us with a few to look at. Taking style, sound and power into consideration the R-55 was selected. It also puts out almost three more foot pounds of torque over the other Yoshimura models for the Gen II with the silencer removed, according to the dyno charts on Yoshi's site. I plan on porting the exit some to be sure this 1441 can exhale. I am also happy that Yoshimura's before numbers are close to ours and their honest after numbers reflect what we have seen on multiple Gen II Hayabusa's. Unlike some of the BS 20 HP gains we have seen.

wait a second the red lines in the graph are with the aftermarket exhaust??? geez that's alot of loss in torque.

Or is the blue line the aftermarket? geez it drops off at the top end.

Kind of curious if this is being setup for LSR whay would you drop one of the front rotors? Are the plans to squirt a little on the top end so the hp doesn't drop off as quick?

I assume the curves on the graph are with zero tuning, so adding a high flow pipe and no fuel would create dips in the powerband unless corrected as you know. We know Yoshimura knows how to tune a Suzuki.

Our final set-up is up in the air I will see where we are after the N/A stuff is completed. I am certain there won't be any dips in our final power curves.

Based on that graph, I would be looking at another pipe. And some people think no tuning or PC is needed with an aftermarket system on a Gen-II...

I remember the R-77 graphs looking much much better than the one posted above, hence where the you don't need a PCIII with the "R77" came from. I guess we will see how this all turns out. I am sure we will be just fine. If not, getting any pipe made in the world is not an issue for us.

Curious, are the charts for the r-77 on the Yosh site OR - do we have other ones I could stare at?

Any pipe in the world is a huge issue for me. But it already looks like you have very substantial project goals here!! Thanks again for sharing progress!

Yosh does have charts for the R-77 on their site and my charts are here somewhere from a year ago.

I am not going to lose focus on this project. Just stay tuned to the end result.

this should be vewy intewesting:whistle:

looking good Greg:thumbsup: gotta say I love the color scheme for the mods:laugh:
sounds like all the good stuff is goin inside-but ah, I heard someone say "single front rotor" aint the rules for LSR @ Maxton n Texas stating that the bike must have both front rotors for racing?? I know drag bikes arent governed like that but thought all the LSR bikes had to run both?

dont look at this big monkey-I never learnd the :rulez: beecawz I kant reed gud...or spel, eyether:rofl:

cant wait to see another sweet finished product, and hopefully a satisfied customer.:beerchug:

No longer run Maxton and single rotors are fine in Texas... :beerchug:

I was hoping for some independent results! Cool, if you started the thread it will be easy to find. If not, I've got time later. (THANKS Again!)

Here you go...no tuning. The bike got really lean with a Pipercross Filter and Ram Air added.

I thought I would update this thread. All of the parts are now in to turn this once gentle young man into a beast that we hope to run some pretty decent numbers on the Land Speed circuit with and elsewhere this year. Having personally gone 213.7 MPH at 220lbs with a similiar set-up on a less aerodynamic bike this thing should fly. Only parts not in the photo are the LW wheels and 4" cheater arm and custom drag seat. :cheerleader:

Two months left for the Texas Mile, better get on it.... j/k

I'm interested in seeing what kind of numbers you make and run... :beerchug:

It will be there with the two other bikes. Should have a good time. We will run better than 180 for sure.
