i have alot of false nutreals from 5-6th....it depends how often i hit it

My '06 with 11,000 miles jumps and jerks in second gear at 3000 to 5000 rpms.  Started at about 7000-8000 miles.  Getting ready to take in for repair.  I bought it new and I have always used the clutch and I run mobil 1 synthetic oil and I do not abuse it very much. Most of the miles are to and from work everyday.

good luck with the warranty issues... rant.gif i bought my bike new in may last year, and started having problems with it in november/december...bike went in to suzuki for WARRANTY work, and they would not warranty...they told me that SUZUKI themselves told them that the transmission was not covered under warranty even if i had the extended warranty...they didn't care about mileage or anything...they told me they have 8 claims a month with the same problems and they blame it on speed shifting, not using the clutch etc,etc....i got screwed bad...i just got my bike back last week, and it has been back twice for oil leaking problems...matter of fact it is going back in the morning for more oil leaking...

My 05 has a bent shifter fork between 1/2. Regular riding there is no problem. Problem arises at the track. Once the air shifter shifts it into neutral I know I'm done running for the day. Only fix is to replace the 1/2 shift fork. Only way to do that is to tear teh bike apart to do it. The set required for that haven't dropped yet so i'll deal with my bent fork until it does or it completely fails. I know the only capable dealership in the area dealership will deny warranty repair. The local shop that would attempt a fix are extremely unqualified and would take 3 months to do it.

well, the shop here is well known ,and i took my bike in to them on dec.29th...got it back last week, and i am still having problems with it...when they had the trans apart, they replaced 1st and 2nd shift forks as well, at 80 bucks a piece...i might as well just grab my ankles before i go through there door next time...lol..

(mike774u @ Feb. 23 2007,19:11) My bike is getting repaired now. Replace a bent shift fork. I spoke to him about "under cutting" and he told me that wasn't the best fix for this problem. He has ordered replacement parts OEM but is putting in a set of billet shift shafts and a Factory Pro Shift star set. Said it would rock after he was done. he also is replacing the bearings and brushing. Hell with the new clutch I put in and all this the bike only has 11,800 miles on it it should run like new now.
But it's such a wise thing to undercut second while apart, the only gear in the case thats not backcut from the factory .

50 bucks at Robinson Industries with two day turn around last I knew .

You guys that take them " Suzuki " to task in court should get an expert to point that tid bit out .

Just a note . Other brands are not immune to same problem .

Kawasaki ZX600's from 1993 thru 2004 as but one of many .

Not many owners are up to the task but when new , taking the engine out , flipping it over and getting the gear racks out to Robinson can be a 50 bucks now thing vs mucho bucks later .

I know it don't seem right to do this to a new bike with warranty but I came to terms with it many moons back .

Don't shoot me , I did not build them biggrin.gif

I have a 06 with 1254 miles and 1st and 2nd gear are slipping. i called the dealership and they said that is was abuse and lack of maintaing the bike when they have done all work to it. They told me that is would cost me 1000 dollars for them to look at the problem. So i have a race shop around me that said that he will undercut both first and second gear, replace shitfork, and replace the rod for 1000 dollars, that is removed and installed price!! I thought that was alot better than the dealership. What do you all think is that a good deal?

Thanks

no problems with mine either...most times i don't clutch btw the lower gears nor am i at high rpms when i do so. like the others said i guess it depends on the rider's style on when/if the tranny goes in 2nd

+1 although at 1000 miles now it seems to have gotten better. I can't pull up any harder, so I don't know if I am getting weak in the nads or just a typical Busa thing.

(dadofthree @ Jan. 26 2007,20:30) IMHO the Busa is an engineering feat, and cheap. It has a minor headlighr and tranny problem. You''ll outrun the factory headlight setting quick at night and second gear isn't undercut so you need to use the clutch because of the azz load of torque this bike produces out of the crate and the distance from 1st to 2nd. Buy it and become addicted.  beerchug.gif
Don't even have a SPORTBIKE yet and I'M addicted! laugh.gif

My 05 LE busa skipped in and out of second and Suzuki wouldnt warrany it,so I paid out of my pocket to have it repaired! After the repair was done the engine seized and now it sits in the garage while I ride my 05 ZX-10 and have zero problems with.I have a dynojet quick shifter on it and have no issues with transmissions!I would buy the ZX-14 and tell Suzuki to GF themselves!

How long after trans repair did engine lock up? Did dealer do the job?

3 weeks after repair! and yes dealer did the work!I took it back to the dealer when it happened and they said damn that too bad and didnt suggest what to do so it now sits in my garage and thats where it will stay until I figure out what Im gonna do with it!!

Had it happen to my 02 with 52,000 miles on it and the dealership fixed it under extended warranty no questions asked, I now have an 06 le with over 18,000 miles on it and have had no problems.

Mine went out in august last year, bent shift fork and rounded gears. after jumping some butt at my local suzuki dealer they finally agreed to warranty it and then had it sent to APE to rebuild and undercut. They tried to tell me it was rider error which is false. They just didnt engineer the shift forks right. Got the bike back on Nov 25.

My 06 has had no 2nd gear issues at all! I get on it but not at the track every weekend either. I would area rep involved and get something in writing from Suzuki as to why they wont replace it. It easy for the dealer to say "NO" they wont repair it under warranty, they dont want to get involved with area rep and trying to stand up for you. Go the distance!! You paid for the bike and the warranty to be able to use both of them!!! beerchug.gif
