2021 Pashnit Touring on a Hayabusa

The last few miles of Skaggs drops into a canyon in a Redwood forest.
70 degree temps are amazing after the 96 we rode through, a few hours earlier.

25 Years ago I took this photo and I blew it up to a 24x16, and it was on my wall for many years.

And today... same spot, not much changes

Inside the redwood forest creates many light dark sequences with minimal sunlight getting through the canopy above in certain spots.

The simple things like being allowed to sit all together at dinner

DSC01980-3.JPG

Burgandy-Braised Beef Short Ribs, garlic-whipped potatoes, mushroom jus, blue cheese mousse.
Admittedly, I have no idea what Jus is, but it was delicious.

The next day, the plan was to head for the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse, but since nearly everyone had been there, that plan got nixed. And replaced with playing with Tom's drone along Highway 1 for some really incredible footage of the tour group riding the Pacific coastline.

Mark and I switched bikes, and you'd be surprised how much horsepower the Triumph Speed Twin has in that tiny motor. At 1200cc, the motor is almost as big as the Hayabusa and Phil's massive BWM R1250GSA

Triumph Speed Twin motor is almost as big as the GSA. It goes.

Early morning, the town comes awake.
Preparing roadside food in Gualala.
Fella said he'd go through 80 racks of ribs today at this roadside eatery

Morning duties: We made Tom wipe down the bikes.
Mine is that blue one, do that next

There's always that one guy that's ready to leave at the crack of dawn. Utah Ken is that guy.

Kid in a candy store, Monya is thrilled with her brand-new Yamaha MT-09 SP.
She said she put deposits down at five different dealers in multiple states to be able to get the new 2021 Yamaha MT-09 SP.

And then there's always that one guy, Do I have to go riding today?

DSC01995.JPG

Foggy morning, Suited up and ready to ride.
Hopefully, Tom finished wiping down my bike by now.

Coastal fog burns off fast and greeted with wide open blue skies and endless ocean

Triumph Speed Twin, Mark asked if I wanted to ride it. Yes please.

I have taken 10s of thousands of photos through the years of roads and bikes, but a brand-new perspective is welcome.

A familiar perspective that glows in the morning sun.

When is the Gen-III coming out in blue?

New Guy Dave from Colorado was beside himself with the local scenery, the ocean, the roads, the endless twisties

You'll never tire of this, not ever.

If you look closely, you can see the switchbacks, these are common on the northern section of Highway 1

Every time a river comes out of the Coast Range, it creates another canyon, Highway 1 running up the coastline plunges into these canyons and the pops right back out again.

Chad did this same tour one year ago today and signed up to do the Coast Range tour all over again

DSC02019.JPG

Dave did the same thing, second year in a row he signed up for same tour

Monya likes to keep things simple, got a Season Pass, signed up for all of my tours & has been commuting from Texas to do these rides. Her plan is to keep the new 2021 MT-09 in California and fly back and forth picking up the bike from storage, and off she goes on another ride.

She bought her very first motorcycle at age 65 and has ridden 27,000 miles in the last two years.
Prior to that, she had never ridden a motorcycle before.

When I wrote the article for this stretch of Highway 1, it ended up as 16 pages of text I tapped out and then compiled with hundreds of photos I've taken of Highway 1.

Make sure to check out the article.

It's long-winded, the pics are awesome, & it has a crazy amount of detail

You want to switch bikes?

DSC02035.JPG

After riding the Speed Twin, I'm thinking the Triumph Speed Twin is the polar opposite of the Hayabusa

DSC02036.JPG

Can I have my bike back?
