There's no such thing as a cold rider, only an unprepared rider.
I know Monya is from Texas, but she didn't bring warm gloves and went to Plan B.
Yup, those are dish washing gloves she picked up over her summer gloves. Always carry two pairs of gloves, everybody knows that.
Which is why we give her a hard time about it.
One big disappointment is we had to ride past Nacimiento Rd. Still closed.
A portion of it collapsed and fell into the canyon a few years ago. Who knows if they'll ever fix it. Nacimiento Rd on the Central Coast has some spectacular views of the Big Sur Coastline.
Ice Cream seems to be a reoccurring theme lately. I blame my buddy Mark. It's all his fault. Sitting around after lunch and thinking out loud. They got any ice cream around here?
They might in Harmony.
Harmony is a tiny town along the Pacific Coast, a few miles south of Cambria. The sign says population, 18 people, but we figured it would be a good stop for a well-deserved desert. Surrounded by several dairy farms, the town dates to 1869 when feuds between rival families led to a killing. By 1907, rival families agreed to end the feud and rename the town to its current name as a symbolic gesture of their cooperative goodwill.
At present, the town of Harmony is owned by a single person and faces an uncertain future surviving off tourists, although good intentions of keeping the town alive remain. There is an expansive glass works operation here, and the things they can make from blown glass are quite impressive.
