2022 Pashnit Touring on a Hayabusa

[60+ Busa Rider]

The ZX-11D was the king of the hill for a short while before the Hayabusa ever existed. I put 30k on mine in a year, rode it all over the place & loved this bike.

Odd answer on batteries, but I prefer the stock, or just a normal sealed Yuasa. I do replace them likely more often than recommended, every 2–4 years, perhaps. They're cheap and easy to replace. I have never tried one of the Lithium batteries, although there is endless debate about them. I don't care about the weight savings, so that's not a draw for me. And I'm always running a lot of accessories, phone, extra lights, etc.

Hmm, all I run extra is a radar detector and heated gloves and very seldom the gloves. Never had a battery failure in under four years and it’s been decades since I had a battery that I needed to fill. I have noticed several for sale that mentioned it came with an acid fill pack. The lithium (is) about three times the price of an OEM replacement but, 300+ CCAs is a lot more than 180. My current lithium is the third battery since 2006 and I had no problem with the first two ’regular’ types. Hmmm

Through the Redwood Forest up and over the Leggett section of Highway 1

A couple years ago we were running through the Leggett section of Highway 1 and came upon this. There was a forest service guy nearby watching it. Such an odd sight, we were annoying tourists snapping pics of it. Don't see this everyday.

There's always that fella in the group, first one up, that's out polishing his bike for the day's ride.

I'm more in the bug collecting business.

Group assembled, we're off on about a 250-mile twisty loop that will take us all day.

Foggy and cold along the coast. Fortuna is located on a flat alluvial plain level with the ocean, and the fog rolls right in and keeps this place cool.

We're headed for Highway 299, the Trinity Scenic Byway

We roll into Willow Creek which has one of my favorite stops, the Bigfoot Museum

If you were a kid growing up in the 70s like me, Bigfoot was kind of a big thing.

Lots of foot casts, but I wanted to know where the skeleton of a Bigfoot was.

The question is do you have any issue with riders bringing weapons on your tours, the simple answer is no, I don't care. Being ex-military, I'm intimately familiar with light weapons. Not an issue for me.

And Bruce has a concealed carry permit and works as a range instructor. If you want to chat about weapons, Bruce is your guy.
