I was referring to the human cost... you paid a price for serving your country. America had huge numbers in the VC war that sacrificed everything as the numbers I mentioned tells us. What my point is.... this boondoggle of a war based on lies that cost America dearly... it's not just the massive death and injury count... it's the thousands of children that had to grow up without a father. It's the number of mothers that had to raise children without a father until a replacement spouse could be found. It's the unrealized lives that never had a chance to reach the level of human potential that comes after service to a country. In other words... wars are one big scam on the world. You will never convince me wars are not the most destructive behavior one side can use to destroy the other side. For what purpose does it serve?

Yes, we have to defend ourselves from the biggest ego's the world has ever experienced. So... we simply get to watch it happen over and over again and again.

What is likely to happen if the world is faced with an enemy from outside our solar system that has the means to jeopardize the existence of the human race?

Do the nations of the world band together in an attempt to survive and eliminate the threat of extinction? Why can't we unify with peaceful terms now?

Wars are often fought against an evil which is presenting itself to a weaker group...

Dictators who commit genocide, employ slavery and torture their citizens or countries that allow terrorist organizations to flourish and grow within them....someone has to stand up to these dictators and leaders of failed states....talk and reason doesn't work, all they respect and understand is strength through action.

Wars are started by politicians and religious leaders and fought by citizens who in the end fight for each other and not a philosophy, orders are given, strategic plans are drawn into tactical plans and executed by military members. The sad part is people die, soldiers, sailors, airpersons and civilians, nobody is exempt unfortunately....

What is hoped is these sacrifices won't be in vain.....often times they seem to be but in reality, many people are saved.

I think there could be a silver lining to that scary scenario, where people and countries finally unite. Too bad that is what it would take.

I'm a believe of extraterrestrials having visited our planet and have probably been studying us for some time.....

They know what a violent species humans are and what would happen to them if they made contact....

They probably figured that out when the first cave man bashed in the skull of another cave man over something trivial....
