anybody race the new bmw??

I love my Busa, but if I could keep it and have another one it would be the BMW...

I was looking at picking up BMW 1000rr a month ago before I picked up my 600 but the out the door price was over 17000. No thanks. I'll wait until the japanese catch up. I don't care if the next crop of liter bikes can out motor everything down the strait as much as just beat it around the roadcourse. The most impressive stock motorcycle I've scene at the track(roadcourse) has been the Aprilia.

All things being equal in stock trim I would favor the 1000rr in most performance based comparisons.

My personal dealings with the 1000rr have been on my '03 GSXR 1000 and the differences in rider skill have been so vast it would really be hard to take anything constructive out of it other than it's much quicker down the strait than my bike.

anyone that owns a s1000rr around the ok area? if so pm me i got a camera, win or lose doesnt matter i can be a good sport, im currently in oregon but will be home in a couple weeks. :welcome:

the article posted from a dragbike mag is vs a gen 1 busa. there is no way a 1441 or turbo busa is losing to a stock bike of any manufacture in a roll.

this all is getting way out of hand the bmw has yet to post any times with any mods a comparably equipped gen 2 cant.

Still waiting for a BONE STOCK 9-second S1000RR.....and still waiting for a BOLT-ON STOCK ENGINE BMW to run over 206mph in 1-mile....

Gen-II BUSA has done BOTH... ;)

I don't know any 1441 busa that made 195hp ???

Greg @ formerly HPC now OUT OF BUSINESS built a few....LOL...

I know a guy bone stock BMW running mid 9's, guy from our local BMW dealership,

Ginas BMW in Iowa city.

They have his time slips posted in the area around the s1000rr display,
9.5-9.6's box stock
Now strapped and lowered running 9.3's

So there ya go, you can stop waiting

It could be stock cams on top the 1441 with nothing much else -maybe a 378 on the intake, not much info really other than it's stretched and might have a dyno hp sapping tire on it.

You know, if there were a video or pics of this supposed race...it would bolster your claim...Not that you'd want any since this was obviously going on city streets which is looked down upon by a lot of members. Take it to the track.

i do race on the track...but after 4 months of being messed with i cracked and agreed to a street ride...as for backing up my claim... thats what happend and im not going to try and make the magazine guys that are so upset becouse there beloved bmw got its ass kicked beleave me..i have no reason to lie and here is an open invite to any one that would like to see this inperson.. lmk and we will set it up..

Hey , the bemer is a fast bike ! It also looks killer, as far as top speed it will not beat a busa or for comfort . And if I put a $17k(which is what they cost) busa against any beme I would CRUSH it !! Also , if you have a 1441 and only have 195rwhp YOU WERE SCREWED!!:laugh:And a Turbo but only putting out 240 ?? My stock gen 1 with a 50 shot could get close to doing that ! Why would you spend all your cash for nothing? They also metioned the wieghts of the riders , anyone that drags knows that wieght makes a big diff.

there's just not very many S1K's at the strip, or I guess anywhere else either.....

I think the bike will do it, (the 9 sec run) but.........the stock clutch is gonna take a brutal pounding.

I don't think it's got the grunt to put up the 206mph+ with straight bolt ons, but really neither venue is what that bike was built for.

If I could only have one, I'd keep my Busa over the Beemer, but it is a blast to ride. Incredibly quick and light. Have you ridden one yet?

Now that's funny.....

I mean't to quote Taylor up there

Does the BMW clutch take the beating ? Serious question.

I have no clue, have not really seen people complain about the clutch, seen them complain about other stuff like vibes, cam failure on early models, and other things.

I highly doubt it will be able to take abuse like the busa, there virtually bulletproof.

But with a 3 year warranty I will trade it in at 2 years 11 months and someone else can worry about it:whistle:

If you payed 17k for the s1k you got screwed, mine with premium package was 15,200 otd, dealerships deal on them just like any other manufacture,

I imagine it has to do with location and competition. I was quoted over 17K for one out the door last month. Not too many BMW dealerships up here so I imagine they figure they can charge full retail + how much it will cost you to go to the next closest dealership.
