anybody race the new bmw??

yep ,they aren't dealing here either.

I imagine it has to do with location and competition. I was quoted over 17K for one out the door last month. Not too many BMW dealerships up here so I imagine they figure they can charge full retail + how much it will cost you to go to the next closest dealership.

Cycle World August just did a detailed track analysis on these Superbikes, and unless you are a Pro-rider, really it is so close you will only have bragging rights.

Here is the data:

1/4 mile;

Aprilia RSV4 = 9.99 @ 143.08
BMW S1000RR = 9.87@149.89
Ducati 1198=10.08@143.00
Kawasaki ZX-10R = 9.97@146.32

Hp:

Aprilia = 155.7@12,070rpm
BMW = 179.5@12,760rpm
Ducati = 150.3@9,820rpm
Kawasaki = 165,5@11,800rpm (US bike restricted)

Best lap times achieved Inde Motorsprts rancg AZ:

Aprilia = 01:54:29 and terminal speed 140.6mph
BMW = 01:54:11 @ 148.7mph
Ducati = 01:55:flamethrowing: @ 137.9mph
Kawasaki = 01:54:65 @ 142.3mph
Ducati 848 EVO = 01:56.05 @ 127.7mph
Suzuki GSX-R750 = 01:55:34 @ 135.1mph
Triumph Daytona 675R = 01:55:58 @ 128.7mph
Kawasaki ZX-6R = 01:54:65 @ 129.6mph
Suzuki GSX-R600 = 01:55:72 @ 128.1mph
Bazzaz GSX-R1000 = 01:54:23 @ 140.6mph

Moral of the story is if you has a 1000 Gixxer with a pipe and a Bazzaz, you would of sat right on the Beemers butt and with a 750 Gixxer stock factory you would have lapped faster than a Duc 1198.

Also, the 1/4 mile times posted are not better than I have seen for a Busa, they are all very close.

For hp and top end the Beemer is king for now, but I don't think that will be for long.

The BMW has yet to go 200mph with the stock motor. So as far as "king" no it is not. The Busa has done it. And cycle world drag times are hardly ever correct.

If a S1000RR puts down 190-195rwhp w a full pipe&tune I don't see why it wouldnt hit or get damn close to 200mph w a flyweight rider&the right gearing. I had a 05 GSXR 1k w a built 1070 that made 195rwhp,it was a solid 195-197mph bike w my 215lb ass on it in the mile;Im sure it would have went 200 w a 130lb rider on board

195-197mph mile with a 215lb guy hanging out in the wind is impressive. Where you about out of gear or was the bike still pulling? Just curious if it had 200mph in it with a little more road?:thumbsup:

From what I remember it had a few hundred rpm left but not much more than that...lol it blew up shortly after that so I never did get a chance to see if it would break 200 w me on it

I know a guy bone stock BMW running mid 9's, guy from our local BMW dealership,

Ginas BMW in Iowa city.

They have his time slips posted in the area around the s1000rr display,
9.5-9.6's box stock
Now strapped and lowered running 9.3's

So there ya go, you can stop waiting :rofl:

Go ahead and post his slip up before I call BS. I know they will run 9's stock (uncorrected like the magazines publish) but a 9.5 is hard to believe and would be the fastest in the world. I'd bet money it is lowered with a clutch mod which isn't stock for those times...

Oh they have gone 200 but I have yet to (maybe in time) see them beat the stock motor BUSA's going 204 - 206.9...

I could post up 10 time slips and you would say give me 11 slips, it's never going to end with you, so here ya go, your right, there slower then hell and I like to lie to feel better about myself.

I have a large group we ride with and one was a S1000rr ( track bike now )...He was all stock when him and a 05 R1 raced (a couple times ) and both times the guy on the R1 ( slight mods ) who is lighter stayed ahead of the BMW. They did roll ons 60 to around 170ish. There was about 80lbs or so difference in rider weight. It did look very close but even the guy on the BMW said that the R1 got him. I tried to run the BMW but he wouldn't run me since I could already beat the same R1 ( it is a fast R1 ). I do like the BMW's and think he might have not pushed the bike as hard as he could but he did seem a little upset about the loss. He just recently took his bike to the local straight track and only got into the high 10's in the 1/4...wheelied to bad. He has been winning a lot at the twistie tracks and is doing very well. I would own a BMW... I like them.

Here is the bike ready for the track....badd ass.

The BMW is a sweet bike, but I'm amazed that the Aprilia RSV4 got very little magazine press--especially considering that it won the World Superbike Championship last year.
