Back to stock height

(xzvs @ Oct. 28 2006,20:54) Also KOK was mentioning he wanted to lower the bike on the last ride -- I said kiss your handling goodbye. Glad he got some time to talk to you DD, and Lamb.
I havent really looked at the setup for the rear on the busa. Wonder if i could rig the guts out of an electric impact gun to a threaded rod to raise and lower -- kinda like air ride but still keep the spring rate and dampening.
I know they make adjustible links for the rear.....But I have never seen them to go from +1 to -2 .....usually it's stock to -3 or -4.....

Remember Devil dog, those links are 1" shorter in length! You know, after Lamb raised his, he wondered why the busa wasn't made this way from the beginning. He also had to buy a new chain because the stock one was alil too stretched to be useful with a 1" shorter wheelbase. 17,000 miles ain't bad for the stocker though!!

Lamb is incorrect

the 1" raising links do raise the bike 1"...but with the progressive linkage
on the rear suspension the links are only about a 1/2" shorter than the stock ones

Also raising the rear is just that...the distance from top of the tire to the bottom
of the tail section is gonna increase, but the wheelbase isn't gonna change

Thanks for the correction Rich.

It was just enough for the stock chain with 17,000 miles to not be useful without taking out 2 links.
Maybe my wheelbase is closer now because when the chain was upgraded it was made 2 links shorter thereby bringing the adjustment on the backswingarm forward? Lamb isn't sure, because the axle looks like it's lining up in the same place on the swingarm. His rear tire is definitely closer to the wing than Vinnies though, and easy finger and 1/2.
Anyway, set me straight if this makes no sense!

If you want to make the steering better on a lowered Busa, try dropping the triple trees a quarter inch. This also gives the Busa a better leveled out feel.

+1   Lowering the front 1/4-1/2" and plus 1" in the rear is the best for
the twisties...stock height front and rear if ya want to do mostly high
speed runs...lowered and stretched for the strip

BA welcomes every chance to "Slam Lamb" since he changed the dates on the recent So Cal ride

No worries Bro...the raising links don't make a noticeable difference on wheelbase...maybe a tenth or two of a inch shorter, but a shorter chain will definitely bring it in

Thanks BA! All of the tire being closer to the wing must just be from the chain being shorter. Lamb certainly won't question your knowledge, you have proven to be extremely knowledgable in all areas BUSA!

Hey Vinnie! Do you notice any differences with your wrists after riding it around for a week? Do you like the look better? Have u tried it with the lil lady yet?

+1 on the +1 inch on the rear.

About lowering the front, careful, that'll reduce ground clearance. Scraping hard parts is no good.
