I always plan a trip or two to the smokies and will try to meet up with you guys on this one. I usually like to stay in Robbinsville at the Ray Ban hotel ( I think that's the name of it) It's a small mom and pop place next to the Microtel there. I guess the "official" meet and greet is gonna take place at the organized sleeping grounds?

Well, I work that weekend. I figured my work calendar for the year yesterday... I may build enough time back up by then to do it, but I can't promise anything right now. I'll have to see what the weather and my vacation time looks like closer to the dates. I'd love to come if I can!And BT, you say you love the twisties .... well man it just doesnt get ANY better for riding the twisties, at your own pace (fast or sloooow) within ~500miles of your place.....and this is way closer than that

Well I just remembered I have an obligation on April 15th. I have to teach nursing clinicals in our ICU units that day. The class is from 8-4, which would put me at the gap way after dark. I may elect to "dismiss" a little early (Lunchtime) which would put us up there early enough to ride some Friday. Otherwise we will be there intime for the campfire and BEER.
I'm bringing my DR-Z so I can improve my dragon times. LOL. As I recall the fastest bike there last year was a 125cc dual sport. Those fuggers were passing us like we were standing still.
One dumb question though. Is "CROT" the Gap resort, or something else?

Can we get a final "I'll be there for sure" list going of those 110% committed to showing up so maybe others that are on the fence can get off the post and move on over to the "I'll be there" list

It looks we have 5 votes, with the cabins as the top vote getter with 2. It seems they are only a few who are actively planning on attending. To rent the cabins, it would have to be paid up front and whoever make the reservation would get paid by the people staying there.

If the offer still stands I will take you up on that, plus you having a home, the bike might be more secure. Myself, I plan on leaving the Raliegh NC area on Thursday morning and heading that way. If there are any other local riders heading up to the Gap, and want some company, or are leaving earlier etc, give me a holler.Deal me in guys, my offer still stands for any low budget members that need a free place to stay. my house is about 45min. from the dragon. One of the guys has a cabin near there. I haven't been to his cabin before, so I don't know where it is. Maybe there is some way for me to meet up with the group. Any suggestions on how I might find you once I get there?
well I'm either going to take the day off Friday and head up there thursday evening/early friday morning or just get there late friday (work most of the day)
As for where we are staying, I think if we don't have a general group idea by the end of the month, we need to make an executive decision and just pick a place. The cabins would be nice, but I'm all for whatever, though not really looking to float a ton o $$$ on a place to sleep. The CROT was fine, little lacking .... ok, they lack a LOT but its a roof, mostly clean beds and place to recycle things
If folks want to stay at the place at the bottom near the dam (forget the name of the place) we can do that or the place in Robbinsville. I'm not all the keen on the motel down there just for the "security" feeling but I'm sure things will be ok there too.

Like Zuk, if no clataclismic event happens, I will be heading out Friday morning. I will be riding the bike to deals gap, and hopefully meet up with some others on the way up there. Any place is fine with me as far as staying goes.
And where exactly is Robinsville?
