Hello to all. This is my first post.

I am picking up a used 2003 Busa this weekend for 5Gs. Owner said it will need tires.

I plan to drop the bike off at my favorite speed shop to have them do a general tune up and check the valves.

I am wondering what tires to go with?

I am used to small hp bikes and have owned a few liter bikes, but nothing ever with busa power.

I plan to do some commuting on the busa and twisties.

Thanks much in advance.

Depends... I commute and ride twisties... I LOVE the Pilot Powers. Decent mileage outta them, and GREAT twisty feel.

I'm still on my stockers, will prolly go to Pilot Powers next, and WELCOME to the .org

Welcome and congrats! You may want to have them do a complete check on the battery as mine is starting to lose some of it's kick.

Check the battery and all fluids along with that tune-up.  If you are having the tires replaced at the same time make sure to check your brakes too.  If its your first big bike the stockers may suit you fine, but the Michelin Pilot Powers or Pirelli Diablos are not bad choices. And welcome to the board and congratulations!

Someone mentioned that Bridgestone was coming out with a dual compound tire. I am not sure if it is out yet or the cost, but it should be a good all around tire.

I do alot of Long Distance riding so I use AVONS. I get the best mileage out of'em

I have been a pilot snoob for a while so maybe will give them a try. Don't mind spending good money on good tires, even if they don't last too long. My old TL1000R used to eat rears like candy.

Will have the entire bike gone through and will ask them to check out the charging system, thanks much for the hint! Also, thanks for the welcomes!

Once I get her home, will take some pics of the "new to me" busa.
