buying a hayabusa for starters

You'll have to go out of state to buy a busa. It's against Hill Billy Law to sell a busa to any inexperience rider in Georgia!

It's america, you are free to buy anything you can afford and if you can't afford it, there are credit cards which will keep you paying for many years to come.

I too would suggest you buy yourself a cheap beater bike of any kind and ride it every day for the first three months. Drop it on both sides, cover your barked up knees and elbows with bandaids. Once you have riden for 30 consecutive days without a tip over, buy yourself a busa if you still have that desire?

If your mind is made up to buy a new bike off the shelf as a starter, be sure to stash some serious cash back for new mirrors, plastics, fairing stay, pipes, foot pegs etc. All the stuff that gets beat up or broken during typical tip overs.

Any tip over on a new busa is going to set you back a grand or more. Your insurance company will pay for the repairs at least twice before canceling your insurance. Then you can look forward to insurance setting you back maybe as much as a grand a month with two or more crash/claims on your record.

Engage your brain in gear before making major life altering decisions and "Make Them Wisely"!

For starters, my first bike was my 07 Busa... I had ridden dirt bikes as a kid for a long time, and off and on with a buddies cbr600rr and suzuki sv650s at school, but definitely wouldn't have called myself a skilled rider. With buying a large bike as a starter I have learned 2 things. 1, that you will not learn as much as quick since you will not only getting use to your new whip but trying not to kill yourself doing it. 2, that you will worry a lot about making noob mistakes on it (drop it, shake of death coming off the throttle, blah blah). I know that I have had 1 "drop" where it started to go over easy at a dead stop and it threw my leg and arm under the bike to protect it and have almost NO marks, small scuff that unless I told you where it was you wouldn't ever notice it. Words of wisdom I can give you, after having mine for almost 7 months and almost 4000 miles later, I am very much more comfortable on the bike, but try never to act like it. It's only when you get comfortable and act like it that you make a mistake. If you do it, keep us posted, get some pics and ride like you know your on a 11,000 dollar bike. As far as financing goes, I went through my bank (bank of america) and got an unrestricted personal loan, therefore I have the title and there is no leans on it. I pay a higher interested rate (8.99%) but will have the bike paid off in less than 2 years anyway. Take your time and DEFINITELY look for insurance quotes BEFORE you buy. It was almost a deal breaker at first (Geico - 15000/year, Progressive - 3200/year, State Farm - 1100/year). I went with state farm since it was the ONLY one I could afford till I turn 25. Good Luck!

I hope you have will power far beyond average, because she will give everything you ask, and more than you can handle in the blink of an eye. Not saying it can't be done, because it has, but the odds against success are pretty big.

I rode my brothers Mach III 250 on the streets starting at twelve and bought a KZ650 when I graduated high school. 30 years later I bought the Busa. It's everything described above. I managed to keep mine up for the past 28K miles. Well I dropped it day two at a stop sign. Anyway any bike can get any rider in trouble. Last years Spring Bash is proof of that. The guy I went with trailered our bikes for one stated reason. In case we need to haul parts home.

I say buy it and save yourself some money. I followed the Zuki break-in procedure which gave me a chance to get use to the bike. It is a monster. It gets fast silly quick.

Good Luck

I think you are gonna do what your brain has already told you to do. That is what us guys generally do anyway.

I commend you for even asking, took some guts.

If you go for the Busa, just remember all the advice thus far. Things just happen at a faster level than you probably are used to and a lot of times that means you will not have time to react appropriately which equals, CRASH, BUMP, etc...If this is indeed your first bike, then you just don't know how to react appropriately yet and that spells, DISASTER.

Whatever you decide, please be safe, please ride with plan A, B, and C so hopefully you won't get hurt and you won't hurt any innocent people sharing the road with you.

Peace

Get your finance/loan and insurance taken care of before you walk into the dealer.

Then you know how much cash you are going to spend on the bike per month and can negotiate "cash" sale with the dealer.

OTD price is everything (Out the Door) Many quote a price less taxes/dealer prep/etc The add-on can hit $1500 faster than you can grab second gear..

And +1 on financing and insurance....

and am assuming you read the link I posted on the other thread you had posted..

it's like that saying in the movie A Toy Story, you will shoot your eye out. in this case you will kill yourself. the Busa is really not a good starter bike even though i know a few guys that started on the Busa. they all have crash stories. i started on a TLR and it was scary as hell, the first time i rode a Busa i was scared to death. there is very little room for mistakes beleive me.

Man, the weight alone should steer you away. Just a LITTLE OFF BALANCE and she's going down and your gonna need help getting it up.

Ask the dealer if you can lay the bike down and pick it back up

Anyone on any bike has a crash story. And if they dont, they will have one at some point

Whatever you decide on, please RIDE WITHIN YOUR LIMITS ! I started out on a Honda 954 & that was waaaay too much bike for me as a novice. Multiply that by 2 for the Busa ...
Good luck brother

i need a loan from the bank...ok..gotcha   but it thought the dealer has financing options 2
Suzuki financing is typically not very good, maybe a nice starter rate, then jumps way up. Your much better off (usually) with a bank, or even better yet, a credit union. Bank will be happier if you bring some down payment money to the table. Spend time doing your homework, know your FICO(credit) score etc. before talking to lenders, go into it somewhat educated on the subject. The questions you are asking are the correct way to go about this.

Just forgot about the second part of your question ... financing ? Luckily I was able to save up and pay cash. Best financing will probably be at your local credit unions... I've seen rates as low as 4.99% fixed (with EXCELLENT credit), however the stealership interest rates tend to be extremely high. Most dealerships will NOT allow you to drive off the lot without FULL coverage ... this may be state specific, so check your area. Try State Farm for a insurance quote .. they tend to be lower if you insure the house/car/boat/child/wife. It helps if you are over 25. Also, take the motorcycle safety course 4 an additional savings...
Again, good luck brother
