well back to tha topic, i'm about to merge onto the parkway on the way back and i could see a car trying to advance as i'm about to merge in. no traffic in sight. funny how they look like they're standing still...laytuh

gotta love it

its a beautiful thing,I ride without mirrors (blockoffs) so for me its really not an option but to take an opening when entering the highway and hit it hard to get in the outside lane...you know everybody has the same look on their face and thought in their head...Damn thats fast!!!! but then i level right out at 55mph or maybe its just a little above that

I was pulled over by the police when I attempted to merge off the LIE HOV lane and three cars would not let me in. He wanted to give me a ticket for crossing the hov line....This was at 4:30 in the afternoon when traffic was going about 8 mph. I asked him why he did not pull over the cars that would not let me merge and his response was liscense and registration. Since I had no previous tickets he "Let me go with a warning".

In CA at least, the merging vehicle has to yield to the other vehicles. With the power of the Busa, its usually not a problem though.

I was in a lane that was about to end. As I looked to the left, there was a car just at my rear tire but wasn't moving ahead so I throttled up a bit look again to the side and he is with me (he speed up to prevent me from getting in). So I just speed up again and look. Once more, cut off. Well, there was no traffic so I just opened it up and left him there playing his games by himself. What made it worse was that it was an mini van that thought they were going to speed up enough to keep me out of the lane.

Merging onto the highway is usually the best part of the day before my coffee.

I intentionally slow down to about 20mph (also because my tires are not even warm yet) while at the ramp, just to accelerate to 70 and be able to feel the power of the Busa.

I have a spot on the way home where I merge onto a state highway from a standstill ....I purposely wait for a car to come within 50 yards or so and accelerate just so I feel the magic for a second or so. Then I remove my super Hayabusa suit and assume my role as a mild mannered commuter once again.

it's always "dude, what were you thinking" that runs through my mind.

Gee, that sounds a little dangerous... What if...

your bike shut off for whatever reason?
your chain broke?
there was sand/gravel/ oil somewhere?

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, just some observations from the sidelines...

I hear yah Rev !! It's a problem that we can deal with (most of the time) on a Busa, but you can beleive their foot is planted to the floor in their cars, trying to speed up so you can't get over.

I heard a guy talking one day at the coffee counter in WAWA, and he was saying to this other guy "I do it every time I see them, I'm sick of those sport bikes getting in front of me". I told him, one day you're going to do that to the wrong person. When I'm in my car, and someone cuts me off it doesn't bother me too much (anymore). If I'm on my bike, and someone does it, and I know it was on purpose, I get a little upset.

Here in the sticks those fancy freeway maneuvers are unknown to most. You still see people stopped on the on ramp waiting to pull out. So along with trying to get into road raging, cell phoning, coffee drinking, meth snorting, make-up applying, brain dead traffic, you have to watch out not to rear end grandma stopped on the edge of the hiway at the end of the on ramp.

good one hillbillytom, i'm always cautious of my blind spots. i'm on the entrance ramp at the speed limit looking forward for granny and then back for traffic. when the curve staightens out it's rocket time need be
