This was an old thread but Dirty Pete I respect enough that when he tells me it's a good idea to post here I will even though now I'm a senior member too!!
Lyle, now there is a politician here. Small time selectman town of Willington CT. Not full time job as pays $4200/yr making pay for time spent about 20 cents/hr. Been involved a long time (20 plus years). Only thing I've learned is labels don't mean anything. Party is Democrat but am very pro second amendment, deeply anti - regulation (imagine a 100hp limit), won't go into rest but lean very Libertarian.
Real paying job is machinist in nuclear industry. Yes it is a union job, computer, busa, wife and all else brought to me by union labor. Have worked job shops part time. My big regret is not having my own shop, politics and toys keeps time to do so nonexistent. Drinking and drug habits contributed to this greatly also.
One thing I don't understand about Suzuki making the Hayabusa is the vibration reduction measures taken. The winter bike is an '85 FJ600: you want tingles and buzzes? I also raced motocross '85 - '96 you want vibration spend time on an '86 KX500, makes Harleys easy to deal with. Bottom of hill at Southwick at speed even with one foot of travel will blur vision to the point where the little jump is where the line is picked into the turn because in the air the vibration stops.
If I sometimes seem short in my replies to folks here, it's because I never had the patience developing experience of having children. Work is 'what are you doing for me now', politics is 'what have you done for me lately', family is 'what are you leaving when you die'. The only meaningless hangout time I get is with other bikers and not enough of that! I also rail against the snivelers a lot. The two other streetbikes I've had are an '85 500 Interceptor (wadded in '89, see drug/alcohol problem) now have FJ600 as second bike. Yes I consider the Hayabusa to be a miracle. Not to snivel, but the project money will be spent on cornering/ handling stuff I'm not gonna have the zx12 kawpukes dusting me in the twisties.
