Finally happened...

Why were you afraid to contact a lawyer?
Most lawyers will tell you up front if you have a case to go forward with.
They would find out if the bike rider has insurance to go after.

Even if you received $$$$ from your insurance Co. a lawyer could tell you right away
if that was a deal killer.

You basically have nothing to lose to contact a lawyer and ask a few questions.
I wasnt scared so much but i suppose empathy gets the best of me. Just looking at the guy he didnt seem to have much. He was respectful and didnt lie to the cops about what happened. My insurance said they would take care of me and have been really helpful. I still think about contacting a lawyer but not sure it would benifit me much now.

Thanks for the advice. I spoke with him today and he received the check. He told me i could pick it up and do whatever pretty much.i thought about do exactly as you said. I wasnt expecting to wrench on this bike except for the smaller stuff. I can handle the work but i am short on time when i get to be home. 5900 would add some bells for sure.
Worked out good for you. Crummy thing to happen but its all good now.
Rubb.

Right, making yourself (whole) after your loss is what it’s supposed to do. Not meant to be a windfall unless you can prove intent or malice.

Ive been in his position before and am starting to be able to enjoy some finer things in life. I know my damage dwarfs his bike but he said he had just bought the bike, how ironic...

It seems to be going in the right direction. I love my gen 1 but im starting to miss the gen 2.
I completely understand. I loved my 2000,then a 2007,then a 2009,then another 2009...now a 2010. If I could do it,I would have another Gen I for a full custom job...still love the original body, but Gen II's are superior.

I totally understand that. I wasnt into bikes when i first seen the hayabusa. I walked into a suzuki dealership around 2002 and seen a purple and yellow gsxr, cool. Then i seen the busa and fell in love. I still find myself looking at it over the beutiful 20 and my harley. My gen 1 is for sale (not actively) to try to put money towards a house. I like a few different bikes but the gen 1 is still my dream bike.

Thanks for your reply.

I like my 2004 Gen 1 a lot. It's the original body shape and still looks really good IMO.

AND I can take it with me anywhere I want to.

Sorry to hear about your entire ordeal. I have been through it this year also so I know what you are going through. Engine blown, rebuilt with full turbo, wrecked, rebuilt again, then hit with small starting issues.

I'm glad everything worked out for you, once you get it back and get out on the road, all will be forgotten. Good luck and say top side.

Thank you. Nicest vehicle ive ever had, i was even detailing the thing lol. Sorry to hear about your situation also. Ive put alot of time turning wrenches to get the bugs worked out (some self inflicted). Ive owned 4 bikes so far and had issues with 3. It was nice to ride and not have to worry about it breaking down.

Ive been sketched out to ride since my wreck, even thought of getting out of motorcycling on road. Thats passed though, i cant see me going without riding an iron horse.

Thanks again to you and the org. I may not post much but im here everyday and try to help when i can. Ive been on here for years and have been helped by many. Im truly thankful to everyone here.

I have several sets of stock exhaust that are mint. I don't know where you are located?
I live near new orleans. I know as of right now that 1 can is 1600 new. I have my eyes set on a full exhaust system, leaning towards brocks ct or yosh alpha. I like the stealth sound of stock (weird i know) but i feel i may not be in this predicament if my pipes were loud. Thanks for reaching out to me sir!

Let us know and I'm sure we can help you out. But I fully understand wanting to upgrade.

Well boys tomorrow is the day i get her back. I bout some triple tree spacers. If i would have thought about it i would have bought helibars. Also purchased some lowered pegs, bar end mirrors and a powerbronze extra tall light smoke wind screen. I ordered some vivid light smoke biohex headlight wrap also. Im not sure if i will use the bar end mirrors or not.

Well boys i got her back. She isnt 100 percent but close. The dash still has some rash but i want to replace those with carbon anyways. The swing arm has a scuff but i was planning to install a 0-6 arm. The brocks ct sounds good, now my busa doesnt sound electric lol.
