Fixing oil suckage in 2003 (project for a friend)

Just put the final parts on and go for a few rides at Plaid Speed. You earned it. I'll take care of the sprockets later.:beerchug:

You always should change the sprockets and chains as a set especially if you have wear or a lot of miles on them. But it's your ride.

I was letting Matt know that he did not need to do this work. He can complete the engine work and go ride. I will do the sprockets soon myself.

Cool, I've really enjoyed this thread

Of course he's right. It would be real easy for him to do now and his hands are greasy and all so :laugh:

no clue about the missing shim - I probably lost it - it couldn't have gotten into the crankcase any way I can figure...
I'm sure I'll find it on final cleanup.

I had to stop working for the day because the ranch a couple miles up the road is doing a controlled burn, and I can't frickin breathe outside now. I bet you never heard that excuse before!

If I had spent 4wks tearing down a Busa, waiting on parts, waiting on tools, reading, reassembling.....I don't know if I could sleep with it so close to completion....but then I'm A.D.D.

It would be easy for him, but I'd have to order the sprockets, then wait 5-8 days for delivery, then he'd have to put them on.....when instead he could be enjoying the beautiful weather and TX Hill Country winding roads. I just think he's done enough and should be riding ASAP. BTW, the TX House passed a bill today to allow the DOT to set speed limits up to 85mph. C'mon senate and governor Perry.:cheerleader:

me too...but my wife dragged me hacking and coughing into the house...It felt like I was back in L.A.

Engine is mounted - having a hell of a time with the chain. I think I'm going to have to buy a new press/rivet tool. Sucks.

Motion pro press with rivet tool accessory ordered, and since you are not going anywhere anyway, new sprockets are coming with it and the master link. I think I went 49 rear and 14 front. I will probably never see 200mph, so I might as well do 0-100 like a carrier catapult.

you had to do it AFTER I mounted the front sprocket back up! :poke:

pics coming in a moment.

Now, I need some help (just to make this gofaster...I'm sure I'll figure it out but I have 10 connectors that are not hooked up and we'll play a little game...where do they go? (wiring is my real weakness)

I'm sure you have seen there are custome LED's hot glued under everything and substandard wiring. Don't worry if any wires are from/to them. I will properly wire later, removing lamp cord to speaker wire splices with electrical tape only. It's a mess.

Wiring straightened out...oil cooler and radiator back on...getting the hoses straightened out. I think we'll hear an engine growl tomorrow.

Man i just wanted to say cool write up i have been following this from the start and i like all the pictures and i truely have enjoyed this thread!

thanks. I can't believe how long it's taken to get done. I'd say this was 4 or 5 full days of work and 4 weeks of waiting for pieces to ship!
(I guess it's not that bad given the 6 months my last project took)

I think I got all the wiring and hoses straight...I'll get the fluids in and the throttle bodies and airbox back on tomorrow and hopefully start her up tomorrow.
