Hey ya'll...I'm a new "Busa owner, only 545 miles so far on my sled, but I gotta say its the sweetest ride I've ever owned! It would be great to have a meet and greet with fellow owners... I have some questions and would really appreciate some knowledge to flow my way fer sure! One major question I have is: Do I have to take the bike back to the dealer for its 600 mile tune up or can I just change the oil and filter myself? Will this void the warranty? Also if I can, whats the best oil and filter for a "busa? Any info would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
smile.gif
Doh! I explored this site more and realized theres a whole thread that talks about my questions... sorry to be redundant!

I'll be the guy in the back with the Purty Busa
smile.gif
right behind the slowest guy in line. Perhaps after only 8 short months I'll get to ride with a forum member or 12

I have read in other ride posts that you guys do tend to lean heavily with the right hand which is fine with me. I have not developed the skill level I need to keep up a wicked pace but I am willing to learn and I think I can do so quickly. Coming from the Harley world with no sportbike companions I have not had anybody to emulate and learn from. I am getting the feeling that will all change in about 2 weeks! If nothing else I'll catch up to you guys at the gas stations!

Change it yourself. No need to pay for a $150 oil change, which is pretty much what it amounts to. Unless you have an issue you want them to address, I wouldn't go near the dealer. Might want to hang on to your receipts.

Ok,ok, any other recommendations there on 98? I am sure there are several.

Hey Bronc, I called Comfort Inn, and La Quinta, they are right there in the same area as the hooters inn, La quinta had one room left, king size bed, non-smoking, $99.00 per night. I thought that was kind of steep. I get rooms down in Pompano all the time for $55.00. What is up with Lakeland that rates are so high?

Do an internet search for hotels in Lakeland, there are not really any bad areas in town (that have hotels). If you have any questions, just ask.

Don't worry about it. About 6 months ago I was the one in the back. It's amazing how much you improve by riding with faster guys (like tspoole). We wait for everyone at every turn and get a quick head count, I want everyone to enjoy the ride and do it at a comfortable pace for themselves. I'm pretty flexible for the date and I want as many guys as possible to make it. I think Kevin and Gjoker are busy the first part of July. Everyone post a saturday they can go and maybe we can get this thing rolling.

Well I'm going, so
1. I'll be in the back (as usual)
2. I'm a wife, so the others should come along too

For the trip you guys have in mind, where should I stay? Suggestions needed..........
We have a spare/guest room here at our place.. and room in the garage for another bike or two~ It is a queen bed, kinda on the firm side, and you still have your own TV w/cable..  gotta love dogs though.. we got two bigg'ns and a little one running around here!
wink.gif
We're just off 19 and 52 if you wanna map it... not far from Diesel and his lady~ You, and your lady, are welcome to stay here if need be~ TKM will be riding her Kat, so if your lady wants to ride her own bike, she will be in good company~ Just another option for you to think about...

Because my boss decided to tweak the schedule for some damn reason I actually have the 25th off. I was supposed to be working weekends the whole month of June to. It must be fate, or something.

Any way if you all settle on the 25th I am up for that ride.

Let me all know what the plan is. Hell I've been trying to go riding with a couple of you for a while but something usually comes up.(something = Air Force).

I'm pretty much free every weekend so if you miss this one, maybe we can put together a smaller ride at some point afterwards. I'll be plotting Diesels secret course with GPS!! I also have a spare room, separate bath, etc. if anyone needs a place to stay. I'm in south Lakeland, almost in Mulberry. Like GJoker, you better like dogs though, we have big right on down to small ones
biggrin.gif

I've ridden with these guys and they do tend to move right along, I'll be happy somewhere around mid pack, hopefully

Diesel is right about learning alot just by following, watching and asking questions.

Very kind of you to offer. I think Jen already has a room lined up for us.
