Flashing the 08 / ECU Editing software for GEN II Busas

well everyone, petrik has done it again,he has now implemented boost compensated fuel control in the newest version of editor, for now it is a 1d map that uses the stock iap, with a gm3 bar pluggin for the future, does this guy ever sleep????thanks petrik...........

To the peeps that are interested in this project, be VERY careful in making changes to the ECU. If you don't know how, ask or don't do it. A small change in the wrong area can be catastrophic to your engine. There are many changes that can safely be made directly in the ECU if you understand the technical side of engine tuning. If you just want to remove the restrictions Petrik has made this very easy.

A Power Commander and Bazzaz still have a place to those who want to keep it simple, or have someone else tune it for you.

with that said be careful when using a power commander or bazzaz as well, you can melt a motor with those devices if you dont understand tuning etc.

"A Power Commander and Bazzaz still have a place to those who want to keep it simple"

petrik has made ecueditor simple for the end user to use,it is a very well rounded well put together piece of software.True it is easy to destroy an engine, but you can still destroy one just as easy with one of the others also.

Yeah, I made that comment way too general. But even with EE2 being as well laid out as it is bad things can happen if the wrong things are modified.

I intended that statement to be that they could let someone else tune it, as in a DynoJet tuning facility. Unfortunately nobody can read my mind over the internet.

How woud you make this kind of tuning tools more user safe ? Its very easy to let bike have too little fuel an causing detonation. On the other hand its almost common to run bike as rich as possible to have a good idling.

What we are now seeing is emergine new tools that particularly help in making the bikes much more fun to drive at part throttle areas. These tools (including Hayabusa Ecueditor 2) has inbuilt functionality that an advanced user can utilize e.g. in setting the bike run for optimum cruisin fuel mis.

On the other hand the advanced boos tuning that Hayabusa Ecueditor 2 offers for turbo owners is something to be used only in dyno environment.

Personally I test each feature of the software in dyno operating the dyno by myself. That way we try to get out a package that is easy for others tooperate too.

But what Ireally appreaciate is what are the improvement areas to make things better for now an for the future ?

You can't make things more "safe" unless you're the one doing the tuning. That's the whole point of my last post. When tools give users this kind of access it can go very wrong, very fast. There is no amount of safe guarding that you can do to EE2 to avoid users from choosing settings that don't agree with their specific configuration of hardware.

EE2 is very well laid out for people that do know how to read and adjust the vehicle computers. It is something that can be learned. Sometimes mistakes are the best leasons. :banghead: Being cautious is the best path when it's new territory.

As any tuning tools including e.g. powercommanders and bazzaz boxes contains alike functionality there is some risk in using all of these. If one leans the fuelmap or advance the ignition - all that may involve a risk. Putting a too long shift kill time can cause problems. Raising the limiters too high up causes risks.

I believe that products can be made better and safer to use when there is a strong user community who is actively involved improving a product. Also an user community is the best way of sharing information and that way having a wide public competence base for anyone to get support. If the user community says that EE2 should include user levels like beginners and advanced, that could be done.

What makes on board computer tuning diffrent to using piggybacks is that products like ee eliminate the need for extra wiring and hence remove complexity and failure points. Also being able to tune the cruising area (IAP) maps improves driveability, this is something that is often in the shadow of the seek for power. The engine data monitioring helps in detecting fauts and errors that may effect the outcome of tuning.

Anyway the curren ee2 is written a dyno operator in mind. I am using it for tuning my own bike and that is the motivation behind making a tool like that. As there were no proper tools for tuning I ended up writing a piece of software that was then made to public. One big thank of that goes to DaveO (rip) who encouraged to do this. The gen2 ecu that is used for testing is from DaveO.

Compared to commecial products EE2 software is a non profit user community driven initiative which means there is no quarantee or warranty. The open source code and wide user base doing the testing is the best quarantee. Due to the public info, the interface harnesses can be built by the users too. Those who have contacted me about making and selling the harnesses (like Greg) have promised to donate part of their income to DaveO:s family. So in addition to the tuning tools we are also trying to make something good to come out of this project too.

petrik, is set up for the 3bar now or still working on it?

I have an 08 turbo with 3bar, msd sb6, bazzaz, zafm, wide band, ams 1000, i cant wait to get this for the bike to see what my tuner can do with it at win racing which he has done alot of gen1's........

Just curious what all is done for the turbo set ups? Any configurations for the a,b,c modes?

168 whp heat soak ambient temp 105. Oh lets not forget 40 lb 330 rim and 4 over but it is a osd setup :) Maps are still not correct I think we will be around 175 with it all correct real rich still. Limit is 12k all restrictions gone. Ignition is set to 6 gear but we are going to bump it a little:) MOTOR iS STOCK:) :beerchug::cheerleader::beerchug:

Tomorrow ups is bringing me 45 harnesses :). So everyone who has paid will go out thursday, I have to mod the directions they messed up my wire color coding so ill take some new pics on what to match up on the 2 wires that go from ecu to yosh female connector on bike.

Got a number of guys saying they are going to buy once available

It'll be first come first serve on the 7 or 8 or so left
