how many runs do you get over a weekend

im going there in april and want to know if its feasable that I will get enough runs to get my liscence's done and get a shot to do 190-200

it's the stand in line method.  It'll take you a while (hrs)
inspection
rookie orientation
then you start your runs.  I don't run, but have been out there several times.
it's a good time.

thanks schroef, wow thats it, so much for experimenting

i have a speedo healer so my speedo reads pretty much right on I plan on cutting it in half so it reads 50 at 100. I dont think there are any speed limiters on my r1, it doesnt need it stock, but if its triggered by the speedo I dont want to hit it,lol

vcyclenut,
April is the big car meet of the year which tends to slow things up a bit. If you show up ready to be in line all day with the appropriate support crew willing to bring you drinks & nourishment in line you will get the most runs possible. Be there & ready to run first thing in the mornings. Often times things will thin out for the last two hours on Sunday and you may be able to get an extra run or two in then. Showing up Friday for orientation & tech will help things along as well. Check a gearing chart before you head to the track to double check your rpm's at your licensing breaks. The Speedo idea is good but the tach will serve you well. If you blow through a licesnse pass by too much they'll make you run it again! The longest I've ever waited for a run is 3 hours and that was at the April meet last year. That was our 2nd largest event of the year but less effiecent then the larger meet at the end of the year. Many people were able to get 6 runs in at the first meet last year so if you run & get right back in line you can problably do the same.

Good luck & see you out there!

awesome man thanks thats exactly what i was looking for

, great idea with the rpm's thing ill write them down on some duct tape and tape it to the tank so i dont forget.

Ill see you there!!!

If you have a shift light you can set it to come on at required RPM/speed - they do not tolerate major break outs - i.e. excessive speed during the license runs. Be sure to read the rule book and conform to the requirements - note the required safety and chain gaurd - these are required to pass tech - with no exceptions - but many that will help if you have problems - also metal vavle stems.

last years average is 2 runs per day average between runs was Sat 2hrs 58min and Sun 1hr 21min. The first event has a ton of cars since it's the Hot Rod event. Lines are long and every so often one might break down. If you're very quick and go right back in line after each run you'll be able to complete the licensing runs Sunday. Rookie orientation also kills your chance at an early Saturday run.

The best chance at getting the most runs in is the June event but it's hot hot out there.

how long is the shutdown area there? looks pretty short on the videos..

there's a short exit and a long exit. It may look short but you really have plenty of time to drop your speed without any worries. It's the guys that are in the >220mph range that sweat things a bit more.

Shut down is .9 miles total. I've heard it said that short shut down is at .5 but I think more like .4. The ultimate stopping is not the issue, you can cost down without using brakes from 180 no problem. The trick is making the slight right turn at the short shut down mark. (and dodging the jumping cones

that mark the outsides of the track at that point.) But you'll see all of this during orientation. They have done some track improvements at that point so it may help things out a bit. We'll see!

Click here for info about the ECTA Track

Here's what the track looks like:

FYI, motorcycle rules ARE changing for 2008. A few things will no longer be required & I think one or two new things. Nothing that can't be handled in plenty of time & they should be posted shortly.

(Married to the man in the know, part time ECTA tech, full time cone dodger!)

Dodge that cone, I hear it's badazz, throwing riders and scratching bikes, and shid like that

Vcyclenut, that is correct. If you show up early Friday you can help prep the track for race day & get to know your fellow volunteers & officials. If you want to learn a lot, stand around tech & listen!

BTW, tech won't start until the track is ready. Usually mid to late afternoon for the bikes. The car folk usually flock out of there early but due to the large amount of bikes lately us MC techs have been there till dark on Friday night the last few meets. (And people still get pissed if they don't get teched Fri!

im getting pumped, got my SETA liscence ,  ive started to prep somebody work, but the real prep will start in the next couple weeks

ive filled in the headlights, and extended the sides on a stock upper so my hands and controlls will be out of the wind.  Im gona attach the mids to the upper so there will be no seam and i am going to make a kam tial out of the tail section. i also have a busa front fender i need to install.
