Ford EcoBoost Engines...Thoughts?

I like my Tundra. SUPER comfortable, even for the long hauls like you wouldn't believe. Enough power to pull my trailer when I want to. Its the V6 but thats all I needed. 18 city/21-23 highway

I'm on the fence about my Tundra... I have an 08' RCSB with the 5.7L... quite possibly one of the roomiest and fastest trucks I've owned.. but everything feels so cheap from the interior down to the exterior paint. Oh well guess you can't have it all.. and yes mine is the fastest color as well.. red!

I can't believe no one has one on here!

I have read the reviews on it, but have yet to see anyone who actually owns one. The independent reviewers have given it big props, but i don't entirely trust reviewers.... The big dealer down my way has about 60% of their F150 Inventory with the Ecoboost engine....probably around 22 trucks at any given time. They say they sale them quicker than any other F150 motor..... I have been hoping to catch someone out and about around here and talk to them about it, but no luck so far.

I'm pretty sure I read it tows more than the V8 as well... somewhere over 11k lbs. I have a test drive scheduled for next week when i get some time. Guess ill hit up some mechanic message boards and see if they say anything about it. Thanks guys.

Nice Tundra, also. I have been looking at them as well, but i got the same cheap feeling on the interior...The fully loaded ones are extremely nice, but the gas mileage had me worried....

My last 3 Fords were Red. I bought a black F250 this time. Sure looks good when its clean.. Key word being when.. :banghead:
I miss my red. All trucks look good in red. Congrats from converting from the dark side! :beerchug:

I know thats right. I had a black on black 69 Roadrunner show car and it was a pain to keep looking good. I have to stick with red to match the trailer.

Go back and reread the thread. :poke: Uncle Steve has one.

Ahh..it was just a blurb..i missed it

From what i have read briefly on the F150 boards....people are mildly upset they are not getting the mileage that they were told they were.....average seems to be about 18mpg. That isn't that bad though. I think that is with the 3:55 ratio on the rear as well.

Some seem to be concerned about the Carbon build up with the Direct injection like someone here mentioned.....Other than that it seems to be all positive reviews.

???. Thats odd. I dont think anything feels cheap and I am a very picky person. I love the fact there are about 10 little compartments to store and hide things . Nothing feels cheap to me but hey, each person is different. The ride quality in my opinion is smoother and softer than any other truck I have ridden in.

I think for me it's all of the hard plastics.. nothing is all that soft (whihc most times you don't want in a truck) but atleast the center console could be a little softer to the touch... That and I get a lot of rattles throughout my dash.. now that could also just be my truck.. but overall I wish it was a little nicer. As for MPG I kinda wish i would have went with the V6.. .my overall for the year (tracked through an app on my phone) is 14.6mpg the best I have ever seen is 18.2 with a worst of 10.8mpg.

I wish I would have never read that. That's horrible. My V10 Superduty gets 11 around town. Wow. Glad I didn't get one of those (I did want one badly :D )

What color, cab and configuration would you like me to go out and boil the tires on?
I've got at least 50 between my two stores.

Hmmm. Yeah the center consol is that hard plastic which I dont mind I guess. Everything else in mine is soft. I guess thats because I have the center seat where it folds down to make the console which I LOVE. The woman can scoot closer or it can be a super nice center console to fit everything.

Yeah the V6 has enough power for me and average fuel economy. My worst has been 13 but that was pulling a trailer in the hilly parts of western NC.

Thats pretty efficient for a V10!

Looking for a Lariat Crew Cab, LONG bed, NAV, 18" wheels (not the 20's) NO tailgate step, NO chrome package. Preferably in RED.
Got one?

So far I'm looking for a Crew Cab, 6.5 foot bed, Black exterior (Not a deal breaker), 3:55 gearing, XLT or Lariat (Undecided) and the Chrome, Tow, and Convenience package....Possible options playing around with and not set: Texas edition for the chrome (even though i can't stand Texas  ) Possible moon roof (Lariat edition there), Chrome plated rims....

Thats what i will be going into the dealer looking for.... I am 90% sure i'll give the EcoBoost the nod from all the reviews i read pending my test drive and if any major problems with it come to light. How easy would it be for me to get invoice on that  ?

Side note....How much do you hate when someone comes in with Edmunds.com quotes?

Side Side Note edit: I got a chance to look around the Limited edition... WOW...would love to get one of those.

I am curious to see what #'s it gets while towing. everyone keeps talking about towing weights but no one seems to mention gas mileage while towing. I have an '03 Sierra Denali and while I only get 12-15 MPG normal, I still get 10 or better towing my 14x7 enclosed trailer loaded with bikes tools and other goodies. I am curious how towing affects the mileage on these trucks.

I have towed a couple of times and I have not checked that close. It depends on so many factors. Head winds and speed are big factors. I get what they claim 15-21. Around town 17-19 if I keep my foot out of the turbos. It is an impressive engine to move a heavy pick up like it does. Everyone that has been along for a ride cannot believe the little V-6 pulls so hard. From 2500rpm to about 5k it pulls hard, then the next gear continues the process. I bet it will hit the top speed limiter at the top of an on ramp. Of coarse I would not know this...
I took a chance buying a new engine, but I don't beat the crap out of my vehicles and I don't put many miles on them. I have 100k warranty with no time limit on the ford.
I traded and 04 Avalanche with 36k on it. My vehicles stay garaged, washed and waxed.
I looked for a long time and pretty much had enough of GM. I looked at Toyota, Nissan, Dodge. I talked to owners of all makes, even auto body repair people. Ford just seems to put more into their trucks. I probably could have saved some $$ on a Chev, I got tired of the attitude they seem to have at GM.
After weighing all the options the F150 came out on top for me.
They sell more F150's then any other vehicle in the world. All those people cannot be wrong  I have about 7 years to find out.

I welcome all other quotes.
Let me see what we have in stock similar.
I'll post and invoice later for you to keep your dealer honest with :)

Rolled this one a little while ago. Not an Eco Boost but still very nice.
Loaded Limited with 22's and yes the folks who bought it were OLD!
