Ford EcoBoost Engines...Thoughts?

Runs on regular.

A lot of people are watching this thread including myself. I have a 1992 F-150 long bed that just turned 192,000 miles this past weekend. I will be in the market for a new Ford pick up soon.

Keep the conversation going.

I can sell to anyone anywhere and ship it to them.
Most likely I'll be more aggressive than others because we sell approx 250 vehicles a month.

Silent when you get to your dealer if they won't show you the invoice on the truck you've picked out you can pm me the name of dealer and vin.
I'll send you the invoice on it.

I'm not talking about that, man. I'm responding to the guy who thinks it's better to just wait in your car/truck with the engine running.

i didn't say it was "better" to sit in your car, i'm simply saying if you want to waste the money go for it, but the time it takes u to put the windows up, take sunglasses off, etc. etc., it serves same purpose. which is why at the bottom of my quote, i said, "they are nice", just not necessity. i have a semi built turbo car, pulling into my parking spot at a parking lot speed, and simply not running out the car, same thing..so...:moon:

Yes. Are you buying :poke:or just leg peeing?

Nope, just seeing how bad my boss got screwed paying $47,000 for his setup like that. It would make me very happy to know it invoices for like $38K or something.

Plus according to his dealer, there were NONE of these set up this way available in the whole USA.. So he SETTLED for a lesser one for $47K:banghead:

And if he did, I think he deserves an anonymous invoice

Blanca,

Thanks for the help! I'm shopping now, but not in a huge hurry...I plan on figuring out what i want and purchasing around the beginning of July. Ill definately PM you if they give me trouble on showing me the invoice. If a place has an issue with showing me the invoice i don't think i would want to do business there. I'm not one who wants it at cost...i understand they need to make money too....but I don't plan on handing my wallet over and have them take what they want.

At $47k the invoice on it would have been $42 and change. There is about $4500 markup on it. $1000 dealer cash,$1000 promo cash (means you have to finance with Ford credit) and $1000 standard rebate. There are numerous other conquest and direct mailer programs that could net you up to another $1000.

So lets say it a slow day and we the dealer wanna make a deal.
msrp $47k
Invoice $42k
total rebates and discounts without mailers $3k
means he should have been somewhere around $39k or better on it before any trades not counting tax tag or fees.
If its a really slow day take another $750-1000 for the dealer holdack and waive the dealer fee of $579 and he could be around $37,500 stealing it.
I've seen and made worse deals. All depends on day, # of deals made, whatever particular bonus the mgr is looking to get and a whole bunch of other stuff...whew...

And as far as the config of your bosses truck. They are out there. Everywhere. The dealer/salesman your boss bumped into did their job and sold him what they had in stock rather than locate something for somebody who may go home and get cold feet.
"You don't spot 'em...You don't got 'em"
Meaning if you dont deliver that customer now in one of your cars on the spot you don't got no sale!

Was he looking for something like this...

Blanca, is there a day that is traditionally the "best" day to buy a car on? For example, I would think that Saturday is the worst day and busiest to try and get a deal on. Also, I am sure the time of year has something to do with this. I bet around tax refund time you would not get as good a deal as you would in the fall.

Building info for my next purchase, thanks.

Sous traditionally the last couple days of the month are the ones when we are most eager to make deals but there have been times when we didn't sell any the first few days either and the first person that was even anywhere near interested stole a car from us.

Just stay strong and don't give in, don't settle , don't rush. Go home and to 'think about it'.
They will call you back to see what it's gonna take to get you back in the store i.e offer you more $.

I average about 16 cars a month when on the floor. Probably 12 of them are such skinny deals I get a $100 flat pay commission on. The rest are 25% of gross profit which is usually $250-1000. Every once in a while a 'laydown' (meaning someone who doesn't really negotiate) will fall off the truck and I'll whack em but the majority are well educated buyers. I make my money on other types of bonuses like amount of cars sold, number of cars sold by a certain day and other things.

Blanca, any idea when that tweaked Focus is gonna show up? Might be fun.

Mid to late 2012 is what we are hearing which is what the latest Motor Trend mag said as well.

The next time any of you are on a Ford lot walk over and open and then close a door on a new 2012 Focus. It is as solid feeling as a Town Car. For $20k or so it's surprising to see how much car you actually get in one. The Accord I own feels 'tinny' compared to one.

Blanca, do you know when the all new Expedition will come out?

Sorry for the off topic question

That and the Navigator are supposed to be redesigned for 2013 model year.
Possibly be released mid to late 2012?

Good running motor. I have driven a few of them. They actually put out about 26lbs of boost. Haven't seen any issues with these motors yet. I have a brand new 5.0 F150 in my stall at work thats getting a new engine-has a broken valve spring...valve to piston contact. What a shame it only has 65 miles on it. Other than that, the new motors run pretty dam well::thumbsup:

So how do these new Fords compare to the Silverado?? Anyone have anything to say about some of the competition?

Alright, I'll be the one to say it. There has never been a comparison between Ford and Chevy. I would think the only close competition to Ford would be Toyota.. Btw, I'm SO not a general motors guy. Every one of their products I've been around has been garbage...
