Gen 2 Trunk Mod

I did mine up this weekend. Although the cuts are not as clean and straight as yours, it is done and the space gained will be great to have.

Everyone's a critic of their own work, I'm sure it's fine. I'm glad it worked out for you.:beerchug:

Well, I know what I am doing this weekend. Great idea, thank you for posting the how to and pictures. Awesome! :beerchug:

Thanks, just try using the full bottom instead of the original 3 sided design. It's explained in the last few posts of this thread.

I will, I read every page and every post. Seems simple enough yet I would have never thought about this on my own. I just went outside and went over my bike. I will be installing a autocom, cruise control module, radio, fuse block, tool kit, tire kit, and whatever else I can fit in there. Thank you so much for making my life easier because I was standing out there an hour ago wondering how in the world I was going to get all of that stuff in there. I think I have a rivet tool, just need the rivets. :beerchug:

Yeah man, I think you can get all that in there.

Well, I picked up a 6 gang fused power distribution block and connectors. Stopping by walmart on the way home to pick up a file box. Want to get started tonight. I cant wait! :cheerleader: If I can get the trunk mod done and install the fuse block to power my accessories I will be in good shape!

A Hefty 3' black plastic trash can works as well as the file box, and better if you want to use the complete bottom(as opposed to the original 3 sided design).

Cool, I will do that then. Thank you for the tip, I want to use the entire bottom. :beerchug:

OK, all done! It worked best just cutting straight across at 4.5 inches and then just trimming the back to allow the tail to fit without contacting the trunk.

I went ahead and ditched the shovel and used the same led light Blanca used from superbrightled.com. I have back off flasher too but I am afraid to install it, just dont feel right about hacking my wiring.

Thanks again sixpack, I really appreciate the emails, phone calls, and pictures, and talking to me on the phone. My first attempt didnt work so well with the file box and Marty fixed me up with all kinds of pictures and talked to me on the phone till I felt better. The oRg rocks because of its members!

Seeing that trash can base in there makes me want to take out the file box and put one of those in.....

It was a heck of a lot easier and there are absolutely no holes or anyway anything can fall out.
