Gen 3 first service.....

its not in these..yes, a square 4, 500cc maniac
The one I rode was a Walter Wolf edition....it burned in a fire at the dealership along with a few more bikes that would bring a tear to your eye....

....and if it was a day earlier my race bike would have been there....

What an incredible talent and hobby.
To restore all of those
RG500R square 4 2 stroke......with a modular transmission...
Geez...I love 2-strokes(raced 250B mx, CR250's)
I can only imagine a street 500cc 2-stroke!
Square 4? So double inline 2 cylinder??
Kinda like a vertical V4??
And what is a modular transmission?
I didn't come along til '77, lol
You guys gotta educate me

The modular transmission was a cassette style so it was independent of the engine like a Harley.

Yamaha had the RZ500R which was a V4 and Suzuki had the RG500R (Gamma) with was a square-two 250 engines basically...it came as a regular Gamma and the Walter Wolf Edtion.

Honda had an NS400R which was a V-3...it was a beast in it's own right.

Yamaha also had the RZ350 and TZR250 and Suzuki had the RG250R (Gamma) both regular and Walter Wolf

Gotcha
Thanks for explaining that!

I saw an RZ350 on the street here years ago.
I heard it first, and thought wtf(as I was walking in a nearby city), I thought some hoon was tearing it up on a dirtbike, but could tell it was multiple cylinders, was a really cool machine, but never saw it again.
I actually had a 2 cylinder 2-stroke 400cc Suzuki, early 70's about 20 years ago.
Got it not running.
Had electrical gremlins.
One of my super villian master mind buddies got it running while I went to the store...and literally ran out of the road and off a cliff in the 10 minutes I was gone.
2 of my other friends saw it all driving behind him, no helmet, and unscathed as usual.
It had no title and was given to me because multiple people had tried and failed to get it going...my biggest disapointment was missing the crash...oh well, lmao...better him than me.

Chicago, you need your own thread and just post up and give us a little info on your collection. I think that would be so cool. Some of these are just amazing and I bet have some awesome history to tell whether it’s technical or racing or even for us regular guys that spot something that brings back memories! Thanks for sharing and no pressure to start a thread like I suggested. I’m sure that would take a bunch of time and effort but man it would be cool. Nice stuff and thanks for sharing what you have already.

I've been obsessed with the gammas lately and introducing them to a buddy and he's taken in love as well. Nothing like a 2 stroke and always wanted to play on one of those. @sixpack577 if you do make that trip make sure you let me know I'm only 4 hours from Chicago by car:D so a little bit less on the busa and if love to drool over some of those bikes with y'all.

.......you........have.......a........matching pair of RC30's.......those things are almost unobtaniums...and the RGs are getting harder and harder to find....

Time to revise an older thread on this topic of which @chidago will dominate....

It was a sad day when I heard it got burned in the fire along with a few others...a regular RG500, a mint '81 1100 Katana (customer bike-I knew the guy), a slingshot GSXR1100 and a 750, an '84 SE Katana, and many others.

It was a pretty big dealership and he had lots of bikes.

Many years ago I knew a guy who had 5 regular RG500s and a 250 Walter Wolf...I offered him everything but the kitchen sink for any one of them but he wouldn't budge...

Thank you sir!
If there is Any Way I can make that happen...I will!

cause no one works on my stuff
Yep, no one touches my bike for maintenance either. I had an issue with my 2006 gsxr1000 that went to a dealership for a frame recall and when I received it back the idle was rough. They told me I needed a $600 tune-up. I went home and found the idle adjustment screw was wrong, I lined up the paint mark on the screw and BOOM bike was fine.

First oil change on my gen3 was a learning experience with the new fairings but she got a Suzuki Oil Filter and AMSOIL.

Superb collection.
That MV.. the piece de resistance.

First service ...mechanic cleaned the bike without being asked. Several light but noticeable scratches in the silencer.

How were the fairings to remove? or was it a small panel to expose the filter? Thanks
