You may also be interested in this helmet mod. Now you can just ask them to move to the right lane:rofl:

Re: Blanca's new Granny Blinders....

LMK if you need any help.
I will do what I can.
Not a prof but can maybe assist..

Re: Blanca's new Granny Blinders....

nice write up but i didn't have to pull my windscreen, just guages and trim. Very easy install.

Re: Blanca's new Granny Blinders....

Took screen off just to be safe.

I have ridden several times at night now.
With the beams left in factory position I still ride with both beams on at night.
Granted it is not down a country road but rather a six lane city road but I have not had a single person flash me to turn them down.
It is also really incredible how much and HOW FAR the high beam lights up.
I can see the lane reflectors for almost half a mile.
Speed limit signs light up from a little more.
It is truly one of the best least exp mods I have done.

Re: Blanca's new Granny Blinders....

I know some ppl have a problem with the lights when turning the engine on. Is there a way to wire the Low/High beam lights to a flip switch? So that the lights always stay off until you flip that switch?

Re: Blanca's new Granny Blinders....

Little steps make a big project seem simple in the end.
I took it all apart in about an hour.
Took about 15-20 extra mins trying to figure out lowbeam collar problem.
Took about 15-20 extra mins trying to figure out highbeam not feeling tight upon twist and lock.
Took a break to eat a ham sandwich for lunch and relax a bit.
Then connected highbeam and took another 10 mins or so figuring out I had to flip plug to get it to light.
Then connected low beam in one minute.
Took about 30 mins making sure all plugs were wrapped with elec tape and secured with zip ties.
Then put it all back together in about an hour.
Total time with sammich was around 3 hours for a person scared chitless and no exp with things like this.

After all was done , cleaning up I find two 'extra' pushpins..:banghead:
Another few mins later and a text to Tim.
He says they go on gauge cluster trim piece underneath other trim piece.
Hours of mental anguish averted !

Hopefully this thread will help shave time off anyone elses project.

Good job, great lights, but don't think folks will stop pullen out in front of ya! I thought so too, the HID looks like a welding arc! Some idiot waited, then floored it and pulled out in front of me last Friday night, almost got me. I hit the horn, swerved, made eye contact, and gave a friendly"gesture".
He looked like he'd seen a ghost, where are peoples head's when they're driving?! Hope you have better luck with that man:laugh:

Look at the colors that the light produces, I did 5k both and its white I like it. And my i adjusted higher so I dont need highbeams anymore but in total darkness its nice to light up both low and high HID.

Starting the bike just chaged a bit, instead of key then clutch then starter, I just go left to right: Starter button pushed in while I turn the key, and then press the clutch and bike will start.

Re: Blanca's new Granny Blinders....

I'm thinking I should have titled thread properly.
Dont think many will search for granny blinders ?
Once it slips down it will get buried in the pages.

Maybe an Admin who reads this can add -/GenII HID DIY- to end of title for us ?
:please:

Yes I have done a few gen 1's too! Very easy. And you can mount the hids ballasts on both air intake tubes too instead on one side like I did on my gen 2! Gen 1's have room on the left side intake tube that gen 2's dont have. I did VaPebbles Hids!

Well I got an 30,000K H7and H9 Xentec HID system from my wife for my birthday. It's a little hotter than what I wanted, but hell i'll stand out with it...

My buddy got it installed and it's bright and right. I left the bike running on the rear stand in neutral with the high and low beams on just to make sure everything was good.

After about 30 minutes, I came back to find only the high beam on. I turned the bike off and then back on. The low beam flickered, but did not come on. I waited about 5 minutes, and then turned the bike on again, and the low beam successfully came on. The high beam successfully came on when I hit the switch for it.

Again I tried leaving both the high and low beam on while the bike was running. After approximately 20 minutes, the low beam went out, and the high beam stayed on.

I then tried leaving the low beam only on while the bike was running. When I returned, the low beam was succesfully on just as I left it.

It seems when the bike is left running with both the low and the high on, the low goes out. I'm wondering if the ballast for the low is getting too hot (it IS double sided taped to the other ballast) and shutting off. I'm also wondering if the ballast was not designed to be on with the bike sitting still (no cooling effect of the intake).

Can anyone shed some light on this?

I wish I could. As I myself was nervous about the electronic aspect I cant offer much help.
Also seems you have diff kit so I cannot ask you anything about it.
WarbirdII is the one who helped me and sounded like Tim the Toolman Taylor on the phone maybe he will chime in here.
If not send him a PM.

Being Sunday you cant call maker but for sure call them tomorrow and ask.
