Gen3 MaxxECU project starting

I’ll just be using the ecu. Maybe it was born before standalones were very good at traction control. I know one of their reps is trying to get Holley to integrate it.

I just like to play with electronics so I took note when I heard of it.

Ok boss man, I gotta ask. What's the MSRP and shipping time frame!!!?
Havent sorted that out yet, this one is skips he has a dyno at his house and will be doing some testing etc.

These will definitely be more than my gen2 stuff there is so much more going on in the ecu adapter box and software. I have many 100s of hours into it.

At a quick guess, sport package probably starting at 2,999 with ignitor and the stock stuff wired in, no extra sensors

I saw I think on FB that there is an I/O capability for an ethanol sensor. Is that in a flex fuel tube mindset or adjusts for the variable e content possibilities from pump?

With how shitty it is to leave e sit I’ve always filled up with it, gone our racing then on the way home thrown a few gallons of normal gas in my Z06 and that would be awesome to do on the bike.

yes you can add an ethanol sensor, it requires a digital (frequency input) to use it.

On a MAxxSport you get (2) digital inputs, on a Gen3 normally I would use those for Front and Rear Wheel speed to do traction control.

On Skips Sport that I've shown pics, we are going to do Rear wheel speed only, and ethanol as he doesn't care about traction control.

On a MaxxRace, you get (5) digital inputs, so having traction control, ethanol content, and a couple digital inputs to spare.

But yes you add the sensor, it knows the exact ethanol concentration so you can mix any level you want and specific AFR targets for the blended percentage etc. Never get stranded because you can't find E85 at a gas pump.

I cannot wait for this to be a thing. 1441 flex fuel with performance traction control sounds like an incredibly deadly freeway bike

Nice! That’s a great idea to monitor fuel pressure without an external regulator.

Side note- I spoke to MPS today and asked a few questions about wiring. He made a comment that wiring up a bike takes about 40 hours and if you only charge $100/hour that’s $4,000 of labor. He said they don’t really do that anymore.

It’s so awesome to be able to interact with you and have the support you provide to the community as a whole. Whatever price you set is fair and well worth it. You can’t find this anywhere else but here.

I would be willing to bet you may go double that on your project. But for sure it's time consuming for full on harnesses, and that i would say it labor hours putting it together, with a lot of time before hand planning and mapping things out for what inputs and outputs will be used.

I really like the plug and play option as the labor is significantly less, and so is cost, and I am not reinventing any of the already in place safety stuff for starter/clutch/sidestand/fusebox, hand controls, lighting, etc etc. Provided that the bike's harness is in good shape, which hopefully on Gen3s this will mostly be true LOL.

My hopes are to have a very nice Gen3 system plug and play in the $3-$4k range as a turn key setup including Sport or Race ECU, wiring, ignition ignitor, wideband, functional dash etc.

I'm pretty excited, figured out how to get an ethanol content sensor (frequency output from 50 to 150 hz for 0-100 percent ethanol) into my can controller so it doesnt consume 1 of the 2 digital inputs on a maxx sport. So I. This case we can keep traction control ( both wheels speed) and add ethanol content to be able to run e85 and mixtures of gasoline and it if you get somewhere its not available. Bring it in over CAN and make the maxx sport even more capable on the gen3 :)

Quick comparison of maxx digital input versus CAN channel with same sensor, and me spitting vodka through the sensor lol
