Buy a Harley
You bought the best
Ride 1 mile
Walk the rest

But then again. 95% of all Hardly's ever built are still on the road.

The other 5% actually made it back home.

Man this guy got a good post going ! Good way to start out
newbie.gif
. The biggest complaint I have is they don't wave at you when you do . (not all ) But they know who they are , its those Poser Yuppie @#$% that THINK they bought American! I used to be a someone that wanted a harley until I see how they Screw Americans. If you don't understand that I mean , Who made them what they are today? Everyday American bikers , Who can afford them now ? Not the people that helped them get out of the hole they were sliding into in the 70's . Harley doesn't care if I can afford their bike so they go for the bucks and over price them . Meanwhile the Japanese ca build a better , more reliable bike ship it here and still sell it at a price that I can afford ( An average American ). I don't dislike the people that ride them (except the ones that don't wave and trailer their bikes everywhere ) .

I don't like the Harley's either but usually don't get into discussions about this bike vs. that bike. However, every time I get the "why don't you get a real bike" crap I get a little pissed. The last time that happened I went out and got a "real" bike. My red and black busa.
biggrin.gif

But really, the majority of the Harley guys are not going to wave or acknowledge me, and if and when they do talk to me they start with the Harley crap sayings like "if you have to ask you just don't get it" I think all Harley owners go to a class on what to say when you pull up to a non harley bike.
laugh.gif

I jump into the croc invested waters once more. What is this about overpriced? Some wanger is talking about a goldwing. Over 20k for a sewing machine. Most BMW's are pushing the 20k mark. The guy with the Rune--30k for a Honda cruiser!! The last time I checked there were many H-D models under 20k. Open your eyes people. I hate to feed a troll but sometimes I just can't help myself.

I wonder why all the bashing is coming from people who have just joined the board and just got a new Busa or are thinking about getting one? Believe me all the H-D riders are individuals just as Busa riders are. Black leather or multi-colored leather suits and matching helmets seem to me to be the same thing. We all try to intergrate into the company we keep. Human nature. Live and let live peeps.

HEY, I've been bashing Harley's long before I got my Busa

How come Harley owners get so bent when someone doesn't like their Harley. I don't care if someone doesn't like my bike.

Just cause its a Harley doesn't make it off limits for a little bashing....

Just for clarification: I don't really care who/what you're bashing..It's disrespectful to those people. If you really want to talk smack, then either take it to the right forum, or take it to another board.

The Moderators should move this to the Smack Shack pretty soon. It sure as hell has NOTHING to do with a "New Owner".

projekt---A Rune
smile.gif
How is that bike to steer?  The front end looks so long that I thought it would be tough to move around. I was just looking at one this afternoon. Not many around.  Did you get a decent deal on it?
What color---the purple one I saw at a show was pretty nice.
The Rune is a great machine and has nothing for me to complain about. The trailing link front end has the appearance of length and rake but in fact it maintains the front wheel in roughly the same position as a Valkyrie. This makes the steering be very easy and stable. It doesn't have any of the problems inherent in stretched front ends on choppers and follows the road beautifully. Its fun to watch the suspension work on undulating roads too.
I got the Purple (Black Cherry) one and found mine on eBay. It had 2500 miles on it and I hit the Buy it Now button for $18,700. You can find them at that price all day long with that type of mileage and for a little less with more miles.

I went to a Harley Poker Run last weekend on my Busa. I was the only Tupperwear Torpedo there among 100 HArleys and at the end of the day I won the poker Run and they had to give me 100 dollars..HD------------Hunna Dolla`s!!!!!

I jump into the croc invested waters once more. What is this about overpriced? Some wanger is talking about a goldwing. Over 20k for a sewing machine. Most BMW's are pushing the 20k mark. Sure most Hardly's are priced under 20K (MSRP). Just try to actually buy one for under retail or even at retail. And you can say what you want about Honda, BMW or any of the others but they have made countless improvements each year. All manufacturers do that except H.D. I notice you did not address the issue of H.D. having so many Jap or oversea's parts for the last several years either. And I, as well as everyone else her can't help but laugh at how the vast majority of Hardly owners seem to have a split personality. Normal, until it is time to ride and then they are all of a sudden a baddass biker. When I ride, the Goldwing or the Busa, I dress and act the same as when I'm not on the bike. Just plain old me. I don't need a outdated, loud, etc, etc, etc bike make me feel like part of the pack. As I said in my earlier post I really don't have anything against H.D. I just tend to think for myself and ride what I want to ride for either comfort or performance not to hope people will look at me on a Hardly and see that I exist and think in the back of my mind that they fear me cause I'm a Baddass biker. But the bottom line hear is no one can deny that the H.D.'s are mostly unreliable. I ride with guys that have Hardly's and they laugh about the HOG thing meaning, not Harley Owners Group but meaning Harley Owned Group.

Well GoldWanger,

I think I can comment on your comment about Harleys being un-reliable.  I have owned four Harleys and put on well over 100k with several cross country trips.  NO Problems!  So, unless you know what you are talking about, Shut up and ride your Honda Bago! Bottom line, yeah, Harleys have some Japanese parts, about 18% last I read. so what!  If you want to ride that BUTT UGLY montrosity that trys to pass for a motorcycle, go ahead. In short, it's your choice! (as Harleys and the Busa are mine) As for Harley people, just like any group, there are both good and bad, so save your generalizations!  At least HD folks as a rule don't carry cutesy stuffed animals around on their Bikes!.  Oh, and by the way ride your Honda-bago 13 years and then lets compare resale values.  My 92 Springer is still worth just about what I paid for it in 92! I can also buy just about  any Harley I want at retail, so you are mis-informed again! I ride Harleys and the Busa because I am a motorcyclist, nothing more or less. I dont think I am a Bad ass on the Harleys, nor do I think I am Valintino Rossi or Nicky Hayden when I ride the Busa.  And let me know when Honda celebrates their 100th anniversery!    Nuff said!

Well, hell....guess I'll jump in here one more time too..

wingdinger....it is most unfortunate that you feel the need to flap your gums about something you obviously know so little  of.

MSRP pricing?  Anyone can find a new HD in todays market at or near msrp.

Imporovements? Holy shiat man....do you EVER read a motorcycle magazine?  Obviously not.  The twincam 88 is an incredible motor.  One of the most reliable powerplants out there.....not me talkin'......read it for yourself.

Japenese parts?  Who gives a shiat?

Split personallity?  Show me a biker that doesnt have one.  I am mild mannered as hell normally.  When I get on my Bus, .......well, I change.  Wingdingers have spit personalities too.......nah, I'm not gonna go there...

wingdinger said; "I just tend to think for myself and ride what I want to ride for either comfort or performance"

THERE you go man!!  The one intelligent statement you made!  Congratulations!
That is why we all ride.  HD owners too.  You don't have a corner on this mindset!!

Loud and outdated....Dude, you must be REALLY old!  I mean hell, I'm old....but I still appreciate the sound of a well tuned smallblock chevy with flowmasters and 3" exhaust....especially if it happens to be in a slammed 49 chevy pickup or something...yea, LOUD and OLDSCHOOL is cool to some people.  I also appreciate the sound of a v-twin m/c motor.....obviously you don't.  Oh well, sucks to be you.

Unreliable?Yea, we have already covered that topic.  Do a little research (other than listening to other wingdingers opinions) before standing on your soapbox here....

H.O.G.  Harley Owners Group.  Don't know your buddies that laugh about HOG, but this organization is full of some of the most passionate, forward thinking individuals in motorcycling today.  Maybe the hog chapter in your area isn't represented well.....could be.  All I know is that I applaud what the Motor Company has done with hog.  It is an excellent organization.

I'll admit;  8 yrs ago, I was not a HD fan.  I wasn't retarded enough to make comments like above....just that with the info I had THEN, I wasn't a fan.  That changed.  My boss put me in charge of a HD store.  (much to my dismay!)  But I learned......lots.
The HD rider is no different than us.  He/she just likes to ride.
Are there some HD riders that look down on import bikes?
Sure....There are morons on both sides....SEE ABOVE!!

Once again, when you talk out your azz......we can tell.

Sorry flrider...had to feed the trolls again.  Hope they understand what I just said........

I admit, there are some strange people on Goldwings. Very strange. As for the Jap part thing. For many years we have all heard the endless babble about H.D. being the only American made bike and all that crap and that the Jap bikes suck. Remember the thing about buy H.D. cause of Pearl Harbor or some such BS. Honda, from the same people that brought you Pearl harbor. What about the 1% baddass bikers and their American made BS. I guess that went out the window. So H.D. does not want to talk about that anymore, I wonder why. I also notice, that for all the strange things many Goldwing riders do, they will ride across the country to attend a rally. Yet the majority of H.D. owners will trailer their bikes to an area just outside of town and then dress up like a real bad guy who should be feared, clip on Pony tail and all and then ride into town and brag about how they just rode for 2 day's straight. Come on, who's the poser. Then there is the thing about constantly blipping the throttle at a stop to make noise and hopefully get attention. Sorry guys, I know some normal guys that ride H.D.'s but they seem to very much be the minority. Most are posers begging for attention.

I'll admit, decades ago, The Motor Company used that slogan.  At that time, they WERE 100% american made.

Time has marched on, however.  The then leaders of the Motor Company....are dead.

Japan is now one of our allies.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!  it isn't 1945 anymore.

What about the 1%'ers?  Hell, who really gives a ratsass about them?
What about the percentage of dumbazz squids runnin' around on sportbikes today?  Stand-up wheelies thru traffic?....boy, THAT does a lot for our sport!

Wingdingers do ride.  I'll give you that.  But I'll wager that it isn't just some Harley riders that trailer thier bikes to meets....

As for "posers".  C'mon man.  There are posers riding every kind of bike.  EVERY kind.  I'll bet ya there are plenty of busa riders that bought thier ride just so they can say they've got one.  That goes for nearly every kind of bike.  Hell, not just bikes!  How many Porsche owners are true enthusiasts?

As far as "blipping the throttle" is concerned.....I think you are overly sensitive.  I see just as many import bikers blipping the throttle as HD riders.

Here is the bottom line people....and the reason this thread pissed me off;

We are all motorcycle owners.  We ALL share a love for our machines.
Do we all ride for the same reasons?  Hell no!  Some Busa riders only like going in a straight line.   Does that make them any less a rider than those of us that like to travel?
No.
Different strokes for different folks.
If everyone liked the same thing, it'd be a boring world.

This mentality of "if you don't ride for the same reasons I do" or "if you don't ride the same kind of bike that I do, you suck"
....is childish, incredibly arrogant, and just shows how small your brain is.

Unfortunatly, common sense cannot be taught.  You either have it, or you don't.

Buy the way, I don't own a Harley.

If funds permit it in the future however, I would.

Well, you know as well as I do that opinions are like sugarbritches. Everyone has one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks. I suppose in all fairness we should agree to disagree on some issues. And we can agree on some others.

Truce???
