Harley Junk

I was watching a Harley at a light in front of me shaking like it was having an epileptic seizure, and it reminded me of when I used to ride a Sportster. Lots of vibration and noise and parts literally falling off on the road. Working on it more than I was riding it. Man I'm glad those days are long behind me!

Free country though. If you like 1910 technology, more power to you. Buda, Buda, Buda, clunk! Oops another one coasting to a stop on the side of the road.

Amen to that,,,,I just can't see what it is about those bikes. It MUST be an image thing because it SURE ain't the technology.....1910 style.
And the image says...."I'm insecure and need reasurance that I am a man"....."NOTICE ME>>>>NOW!!!"

OK folks, here's some bad and some good news. I think. A very close and long time friend of mine is about to expire. We have ridden bikes together most of our lives. He has had a few more than me and has had several H.D.'s. One (current) is a '79 Low Rider that is still in near perfect condition he bought new. Only about 12K miles. And about half of those are mine. This is about the only H.D. I have ever really liked. The looks and style of the bike are just cool and comfortable.  He also has a '00 Gray Blackbird and a '02 Silver Blackbird. Both are mint. Anyway, he will probably not last out the week and his brother told me he has willed the Low Rider and the 2 'Birds to me. He is divorced with no children and parents are both gone. So his brother is the only relative. And they both have always considered me the 3rd brother. We used to call each others parents Mom and Dad. So I am about to inherit a H.D. and 2 Blackbirds. I guess I will need to lighten up on the Hardly Abelson stuff or be a hippocrite. And of all things I am I have never been a Hippocrite. Still, given a choice I would rather have Dennis here than the bike's in my garage. But he has made his peace and is as ready as he can be. So Lewis (brother) and I have been camping out at the Hospital and will continue until the end. I will enjoy the bike's for him, but will still miss him terribly.

Man, I will really be confused after this. How should I dress and act now for each bike. Like an old codger on the Goldwing with the required stuffed animal on the trunk. Or like the pencil neck bean counter in Dockers and a button down on one of the Blackbirds. Or like a roadracer in full leather on the Busa. Or like a wanna be poser in a dew rag with fingerless gloves and the little tittitassles on the handle bars and the heavy boots with the 2" soles like a real bad ass biker on the Low Rider. I'm so confused. I hope I don't develope multiple personality's like the Cybil thing from the 70's.

GW,
Sorry to hear about your friend's situstion. I hope he recovers, and if that is not to be I hope his passage on to the other side is swift and painless.

It is great that he has a friend like you to honor his memory with his bikes. Ride them as he did, no need to switch personalities. Make the bikes fit you, not vice versa......

Sorry about your friend

No matter what is said between members of this site, when it comes down to personal issues and tragedies, everyone always seems to come together in support of those affected. This is "just the internet" and without a few drama topics, it would be a boring place.

When it matters most, you will find that EVERYONE here is more than willing to help a fellow "rider" out, and offer them support that would more than likely be hard to find elsewhere on the internet.

That's why I stayed here, even though I sold my Busa a couple of months ago. Too many great people to just walk away from.

On a more comical note...

I've always wondered what kind of crap I would get if I showed up for one of the HOG Chapter rides on the Electra Glide while wearing my Joe Rocket Speedmaster suit and other racing gear.
laugh.gif

I've been on some rides wearing my Hein Gericke winter suit, and got to laugh at most of the other riders as they froze their azz off all "leathered up". Meanwhile I was only wearing a t-shirt and jeans under my suit.
