How offen has it been your fault.

Now we all know when riding a bike you need eyes in the back of your head.
So I've Just been thinking of all the times I've crashed a bike, how many times has it been my fault.
Off the top of my head I can think of six times when I've been off the bike, and once was my fault.

The one that was my fault I clipped the rear indicator of a taxi, this was about 10mph, and I hit a lamppost.:banghead:.

Been rear ended at a junction.
Knocked off by a taxi while overtaking when he just turned right.
My cousin overtook me sodding about, just pulled in front of me and slammed his brakes on for no reason.
A dog ran out in front of me, braked to miss it, fell off.
A Mini came out of a one way street the wrong way, I hit that.

Just thinking about the percentage of off's which are actually the riders fault.

Anyone have any idea, or if you're been off was it your fault.

I've always stayed on my bike, nothing serious I guess. Just been lucky. I did have a green turn light and this black chick ran the light doing about 50mph in a van and if I didn't see here, I would have been toast! I also had a car pull out in front of me coming out onto a one lane street, I was able to swerve and just miss here as she stopped however a few seconds later in traffic a guy who was turning left, and was right behind me rolled down his window and told me if I didn't swerve and just stopped he would have hit me. Both time in Tallahassee, Fl.

But... I guess 4 or 5 times I have had close calls, only hit a car once who pulled out in front of me. Tallahassee again!

Car pulled out on me back in 1979, her fault, but I was 15 at the time. Same situation today, I would of not hit her, i could stop before the hit. I was on crutches for 2 years, but I guess I,v learned a lot , the last 30 years of riding have been accident free, and the past 9 have been on the Busa. I swear, sometimes its like I know what the idots are gonna do before they do.: rofl:

Yup, I know when to be a fool and when to watch my ass these days but I'm also 38. I have not had any issues since 97. However, stupid ***** on the phone came close one day! I did the phone in hand jester to hang it up and she did lol, she knew she F-ed up!

I've been off 3 times through the years, all my fault.
First, I was 19 and on my second bike (a middle 70's Honda 450 DOHC). Watched an old Gran Prix race on Wide World of Sports, thought "that is so cool". Rest of the scenario is pretty much self explanatory.
Other 2 times have been in the last 8 years. Once on the street and once on the track. I screwed up both times, and learned valuable lessons from both offs. Pain, both physical and financial, is a good teacher.

I have been riding since 2005. I had a 2005 Kawasaki ninja 250, Suzuki marauder vs 800, Kawasaki ninja 650r then the monster (07 Busa). I have never been down before. I ride with different people and in different locations. I am always learning more each day.

I had to take off my socks to get the amount of times I have been down. Most all I did something wrong some were.

Ahh, so your still in the "those who will go down" group.

Wear your gear.. always.

First time Down few days ago. Wet road with sand and temp in low 50s. I guess I can say it was my fault. Like said above my pocket, pride and ribs still hurting :-(!!

The one time i did go down was epic, blamed everything else for years, was the gravel, poor lit road. Last few years i can honestly admit mine was due to poor decisions at a dangerous rate of speed, which also wasnt my smartest moment.

took a chitter down my long ass steep driveway years ago. all my fault. switched carb of gsxr750 and forgot something. Ikn, it was like 20 yrs ago

all but one were definitely 100% my fault...that one i blame 50/50 on the driver of the dump truck that came around the inside of a curve in my lane...i tried to run wide and just trade lanes since he was going way too fast to maneuver into his correct lane but i couldn't hold it on the road and lowsided into the ditch and down a hillside...if i had been traveling at a more appropriate speed for the road, i might have been able to dive to the inside and hold it without ending up under the truck...just glad to have lived through them all so far and hopefully learned my lessons :beerchug:

I didn't think we were counting dirt. I've been riding in the dirt for 35 years, so I couldn't even begin to guess how many offs I've had but one of them was not my fault. It was my LITTLE BROTHERS. he is 6 years younger and it was the first time our parents let him go with my friends and I without them. he was on a CR80 and I a CR250, he took off ahead of me across some whoops "I couldn't let him beat me to the other side" so as I went to pass he bounced sidways and I t-boned him. we both went flying he had tire tracks from his boots to his helmet. some guys in dunebuggies saw it and came over to help. we neither one were realy hurt but we were both sore enough not to ride anymore that day. when we got home we told mom and dad nothing happened. they left to go to my Uncles for a bbq and we met them over there after we unloaded. to our surprise his nabor "who we never met before that day" was over and told the story of the crash and how they were amazed that neither one of us were air lifted to the hospital. we pulled up and the guy says O my god how are you guys doing. well we got in a ton of trouble. what's the odds of that. but we still laugh about it at almost every family gathering.

Down once last year, my fault. Too much speed on a road I didn't know. Went down 2 months ago and don't know what happen. On a 35mph road doing approx. 30 mph no sand , gravel or leaves on the road I lost the front tire. I've rode this same road before 5 or 6 times with never any problems. Air pressure in the tire was good and no sudden imputs. Front just lost traction about middle ways in the turn. I don't know what to blame this on. Bad luck I guess.
