How's everyone liking their gen 3s so far

There were massive sales in the mid-2000s. Wikipedia shows 10,000 Hayabusas sold in the US in both 2005 and 2006. The economy of 2008 annihilated the overall vehicle market. Eventually as sales came back the adventure bike completely took over, just like where you are. When I shopped in 2019 few dealers had any Hayabusas. If I recall correctly I did not see a brand new one locally but one or two used ones with ugly accessories and costing too much. I got lucky and found an owner of a 2019 who seemed to have a lot of remorse; said he was afraid of it. If I had not gotten that I may have had to drive two hours away to get a new one. Who knows but today the gen 3 is probably eye candy that brings lookers but some of the dealership stories here seem to indicate that there will be no significant revival.
It seemed as though there was a slight panic to ensure dealerships had units to supply demand....now that the initial demand is over, there will be new Hayabusas sitting for a long, long time as they have been a hard sell for a while.

Sometimes I will go into Kijiji to see how they are selling and I see the same bikes on there for months and months. Some of the prices attached to the used bikes is totally out to lunch but even the new ones are not selling.

Oddly, I could have sold mine a couple times are there are none in my area so it stands out.

It's not surprising to me in some countries supply is greater then in others. In canada I was told by various dealers suzuki has reduced allocation on the Gen 3. Mine for example is order 3 of 5 for ontario for 2022 riding season. I suspect this is a great way to eliminate surplus, keep pricing strong along with maintaining supply and demand. It is not a bike for the masses, nor will many want to pay the premium for the insurance! It is considered a sport bike and they charge accordingly. I believe this is the way it should be sold, as true enthusiasts will want them.

A week ago I saw my first Gen3 in the flesh.
I sadly admit, it didn’t have the “wow” factor that I was expecting.
it blended in with the other bikes on the floor and it was only when I noticed the symbol on the side, I realised it was a Hayabusa.

the Gen 1 & 2 are instantly recognisable and people know them.
the Gen3 may be an amazing bike in many ways, but to me, just doesn’t have the take me home factor. Maybe in 2 years time, who knows.
Apologies to all Gen3 owners.

I find the pictures of the gen 3 to be very similar to the other two generations so in my eyes, I can't see the other two standing out whereas the gen 3 doesn't..

I have yet to see one in person so I'm just talking through my hat obviously...

The first signs of Spring here used to be the sound of squids ripping about on their 600's...and they were everywhere, mid 80's until about a dozen years ago.
Now, seeing a sportbike is noticeable, as there' only a handful about on any nice day.
Sad, as the generational idiots by majority don't even want to drive cars anymore.
Faces stuck in a screen, which the idiots that do drive seem to think they can still do when driving.
Apparently the local dealer has a silver gen3 too, so I hope to check it out by next weekend.
It's safe to go look too...zero risk of buying a new bike that's not black, lol.

I've been thinkin about what to say on this bike, my experience with a busa was only gen 1's, and they were impossible for me to be comfortable on, and had terrible slow speed handling..

Saying that, I had 3 of em, for the power aspect. Everything I drive, or ride, is usually off the chart that way.

Got hooked on FZ1's for a bit, they were comfortable and easy to ride.

Went from there to gxxr !000's, till my gf bitched about the seat all the time..sooo, I decided to try a H2SX SE..figured it would give a bit of long distance riding ability, and shut her snivelin up..

Put abm bar kits, and every other comfort thing on it, but, bike was a POS, period..3 recalls, uncomfortable, slow steering, heavy.and quirky.

Made decent power, 253 rwhp after the mods, and the power on the bike very linear..a good thing.

Couldnt deal with all the issues, the gen 3 was coming, and hopped on that bandwagon.

Didnt really know what to expect, just had the old memories on my gen 1's

Was really surprised, my track times on this bike sooo much better than the H2, it feels so light on its feet, and the new riding position was something I can work with.

Power is there, linear as always, feels as good as the H2, trans is much better, QS is miles ahead of the kaw version, etc.

I truly enjoy this bike in all aspects, and I havent been able to say that in lotta years.

I think they did a hell of a good job on this bike.

Here are they bikes I'm comparing to..

To explain better, my b king is best all around street bike..lol.. The blue gxxr, is the S style, and I got it because of the K5 engine, switched cams, and tuned, its a ball of raw old school suzuki. with a much more relaxed riding position.

So the new busa had much to equal, or exceed..it does so far.

Hope you men are as pleased as I am.

Sorry for the long winded post, but, wanted to get it across.

As someone who's owned a gen2(disliked riding position), a Bking(Loved it), 1000's, had dirtbike bars on my gen2, rode and love dirtbike bars on a 1k, am interested in gsxS's including K5 mods and power, also interested in modded H2's, and of course the gen3's...your long and detailed post answered Alot of questions I've had...so thank you.
It's another 1k for me, unless the gen3 just fits that much better(doubtful) hopefully I'll get to sit on one soon.

Six, I put a buncha poop on my '18 gxxr thou...abm bar kit, lowered pegs, real cruise control, (I'm a dealer for the company), dynoed and set up by a expert, as I aint, lol, and a full race system from yosh..bike is stellar, double hit on the high end, rips ur head off..BUT, the busa seems more road happy, and my track days aint often, i'm old as dirt, aint got it like i used to..

When the ecu gets unlocked, I'll be able to tell if its my end all be all..

I'm lookin at the new GT+ too, this way I can take the dragon girl on little trips with the luggage..lol

its the gsx-s underneath, K5 again..those that dont know the K5, one of the best thou ever made..reliable, and all u gotta do to wake it up is get a pair of the original cams from the K5 gxxr in the day, and u gotta animal in buick clothing..lol..decent price too.

I ride a 2017 naked GSX S1000 and looking for something more planted, with some pillion comfort, wind protection and gizmos like QS. On paper the GT+ seems to be right up my alley, but I don't know, they say it has even more relaxed ergos than the F (which is saying something, the F is pretty neutral in my experience). I don't know, it is like BMW R1250RS for dudes who don't want to buy a BMW. I have to check it out in person, but none available in showrooms yet. The K5 engine is simply glorious, thats for sure.

The Hayabusa on the other hand blew my mind when I demoed it (that's why I'm here). The riding position is the only thing I'll improve when I get mine 2022 spring, with bar risers and maybe lowered footpegs.

It is also worth noting that the Busa is quieter, 92dB as opposed to the 99dB noise of the S1000. Important in Europe as bikes over 95dB are now banned in some Austrian, German roads (maybe Swiss as well), and proposed to be banned from the best riding area of Hungary too.

I'm interested in your experience between the S1000F and the 3rd gen Hayabusa.

I´ve owned a lot of bikes in my life, but the Busa is the best so far. The perfect mix for me. Comfortable, easy to handle, a brutal engine but only if you want it so, perfect for my heavy butt. No pain in the back, the schoulders or the Hand knuckles, as i know it from other supersport bikes. The character of the Busa is unique. The 3rd Gen is my frist busa, i was no fan of the previous models. The design of Gen 1 and 2 wasnt my favorite. But now i understand, why the fans love the busa. Shure a gixxer, r1 or fireblade is much more lighter, easyer to handle, but they are not so confident! The season was to short, bad weather, then the accident, not enough time to know her better. Hope to catch up that next year.

I aksed my dealer about the sales, we have a very good relationship, so he spoked freely. After the announcement, he did not expect much. Germany.....thats no country for supersport oder hypersport anymore. The seelings fo these bikes are laughable, not like in the 90´s, where you find a Sportsbike on every corner. Even the younger ones no are are fanatical, when it comes to Retro or Nakedbikes. The bikes should look like bikes from their grandpas! They want high handle bars, nakeds or maybe bikes like a African Twin. Totaly boring......and its a bad joke if a 20 year old boy tells you. "Ohhhh goooood sportbikes? With these handle bars? They are bad for my back.......these bikes are for the eternal yesterday ones". Sorry at these moments, i have the feeling to hit somebody. They are a generation of wimps.......

So nobody expect good seelings, but at the start of the sales, they sell the busa very well! The Dealers where very surprised. The last new suzuki models like the SV650X, SV1000XT or special the Katana...where absolute flops. The Katana was sold only 42 times in Germany over 3 Years! Thats not what i call success! They sell in the frist 2 month round about 250 Bikes. Thats very much, for japanese bikes in our country. where KTM or BMW are the kings of sales. The buyers where between 30 and 50 years old, you dont find younger ones among them. But now.......the bikes standing in the shops like grandfathers clock, like all sportbikes after a short period of interest. My dealer sold 4 Bikes, at least that are 4 bikes more than hey sold Katanas! :D

We have 76 Bikes in germany, ready to buy....and the lowered the price massive! Very good deals, but nobody cares. When you look at India for example, the Busa is sold out.......they celebrate this bike like a icon. Until today i thougt, in the States the Busa is a sales success too??
I should go bike shopping to Germany then. In Hungary some dealers say they can't get a Busa even after a deposit.

That´s a good idea! Just watch Mobile.de, there are over 73 Bikes in Germany, and thats not all of them, some dealers dont offer their bikes online. The german general importer have a lot of bikes in stock too! You can make good deals here. Hayabusa with no kilometre on it or maybe less than 100, offered for round about 16.000 Euro. But i dont know, how the tax situation is, if you get your bike from germany and how much it costs, to change the papers for hungary.

But like i wrote, in eastern europe the Busa is very popular, much more than in germany/swizz or austria. In eastern europe they celebrate the bike, there its something special, likewise in India. So Suzuki should change its way of thinking and offer more bikes in these countries, instead to flood your markets.

Cool
Looking forward to hearing more on the gen3...and swapping cams and exhaust on a used gsxs is tempting too.
I will be getting serious about buying in a few months. A '17+ gsxr1R is still in the lead(quickshifter has me hooked now)...but I'll at least need a test sit on a gen3, if it fits(unlikely) I'll be spending Alot more on the next bike than I had planned, lol.

You are right. Especially so because of this scarcity the dealers aren't as inclined to offer deals right now.

Mik, I enjoyed my F highly..even fitted it with a rack to do light touring, with a givi case.

Handling on that bike was more than acceptable, wind protection was great, good braking, and the K5 woken up is a joy..really..love the hit up high..goes back to my 2 stroke fond memories..the H2 days the REAL H2..not this thing they have now.

I spent maybe a additional 1000 for all my accs., including the cruise, not the pipes, tho, they were a full race system, not available here in the US, hadda get em from japan directly.

the only actual engine adds were the earlier gxxr cams, plus the retune and dybo set up.

probably the best of the bunch, actually..I just like having latest. to my detriment, most times..lol

To close my long winded rant on this, gee, I musta turned female here..:( after thinkin about all of it, if this GT+ came out the same time as the busa, I probably woulda bought it, as it would do double duty, for me, and the italian princess..lol

Swapping cams is about a hr, can still get the same pipes you can see on my F, life woulda been good..

Cause, the seat in back is ok for her, the no luggage issue is gonna rear its head this summer..

Peace

Can't wait for the GT+ to arrive here. Keen to have a look. The GF would be much more cumfy I think than on the back of the Gen2

I know the K5/K6 ecu can be flashed, and apparently so can the gsxs ecu.
Did you have yours flashed?
If stock K5 cams and an exhaust make the gsxs the same brute as the K5...then I want one, lol
