I have questions, maybe you have answers. George Floyd & Karma

This is how Robocop started.... cops on strike, too scared to hit the battlefield streets of New Detroit.

Not entirely relevant, no, but when politicians and law enforcement back away and allow anarchy to take hold in public places, it's not going to end well. I could definitely see a public militia form and try to take back control of the cities... shoot first, ask questions never. I wouldn't blame anyone for using deadly force to protect their families and their businesses in this environment.

These riots need to stop now and I wouldn't shed a tear if the military was called in to quell the chaos and reinstitute law and order.

How much of this is just because blacks have had enough? How much of this is due to current distrust of authority by everyone? How much of this is just bottled up angst from months of quarantines and lockdowns? How much of this is leftist crybaby hysteria? How much of this is just an opportunity for a new flat screen TV? We may never know the breakdown, but only one of the reasons I listed is cause for any public outrage and I wouldn't hesitate a guess that it's the reason that the least number of rioters are currently rioting for.

What a mess.

. I tend to be a little left of center, but I’m totally with you.

...”We had a BLM march in our capital Dublin also.
Why TF should there be a march here.Is there racism here?”

Apartheid in SA didn’t exist here but many people here demonstrated. That’s how like minded people show their support for the cause. I suppose (some) folks here asked WTF we were demonstrating here. I suppose they didn’t (get it) either.
The only thing is after Apartheid white owned farms were taken or forcibly bought at a small fraction of the cost. Many whites were tortured and killed. Hopefully something like that won't happen here.

Quality of the education. You know have black history specifically taught. Have a black history month so we can all be more aware of their contributions. I guess they were absent for the part that taught them about the 54th

Got any evidence?

On the other hand....

Boogaloo arrested

Has Fox news mentioned the Boogaloo?

cheers
ken

Are you actually watching downtown Seattle?

No I haven't heard anything about the boogaloo - but i am glad they got caught before inflicting damage. And Salon.com a source? They are about as bad as infowars.....

I do care about why it started, I believe changes need to be made.

:beerchug:

The protesters have become a smoke screen for scum , how do you tell them apart

Not a bad question. Best answer I have is by their actions. I realize the idiots integrate and almost meld into the crowd. If the looting and stealing are done with the intention to take away from the message, it's very effective.

I think in a way they like what they do as it brings more attention to their message.

I can tell you from a personal perspective and I've participated in two peaceful demonstrations, to most of the people that truly take this message to heart, the violence is sickening. It takes away from the truth and the reason for this long awaited uprising.

Dude you're white, that's the point. I actually do that already even before I got a CC permit. I show it now weapon or not. If they have a database of ccw holders and I don't show it they could draw on me. At minimum its going to get me a step out of the car. I try to do as much as I can to keep my interactions with cops on the street as breif as possible. Never know which cop you are going to run into.

Arch, has that actually happened to you, or are you just theorizing? I put both hands outside the window so the officer can see them walking up. In my hand is my carry permit that I got out while in the process of being stopped. Do whatever they tell you to do, don't make any fast moves, and you will be fine. But unless you've actually experienced that to happen to you, don't make it sound like a fact.

So I want to chime in a bit on this one. I've had discussions with my black circle of friends. Yes they do get treated more harshly than white people. It's a fact. That fact is broght about by the statistics the cops deal with.

My retired black officer friend has been stopped because he was walking around in a jogging suit. Had no ID. No legal reason to. He identified he was an officer. They didn't believe him. (He was not in his jurisdiction and was not on duty). He was on the hood of their car being searched. He was released without incident of violence. All of my black friends have been subjected to cops assuming they were probably a problem.

They ALL agree that the reason the cops feel that way, was the high probability of blacks commiting crimes in the areas they were. Doesn't make it right what the cops do.

ALL of them did their best to cooperate in the situation. They all made it home for supper. But not everyone wants to tolerate that treatment. Particularly if it's repeated.

So the problem exist. And we need to change the attitudes by both cops and anyone who feels the best way to face that situation is to agitate that cop.

No, a cop has not blown my head off for no reason yet. But I know of many people who have been taken to jail or been hit, cuffed, etc. As I posted my buddy who is a defense lawyer was made to lay down in the street with his expensive suit on for nothing when the cop saw the CCW. Personally, I have had only one really bad experience with a cop, and a few where the guy was just a d#%k. Most have been pretty good actually.

A buddy of mine has been a Toronto cop for over 30 yrs and has told me the standards for who they hire has been dropping steadily and steadily....

He said it is no longer the best and brightest getting through the police college...I guess it is like this in all professions. He also said it is problematic when hiring ex military depending on their background as they will revert to their former training when in a tight spot and military techniques don't always work in a civilian setting.

While watching my former favorite show (Live PD) I noticed many of the cops identified themselves as former military members, this may be contributing to some of the over-reaction which has happened during some police interactions.
