I must be obsolete...

I’ve never heard anyone disparage the Olympics before. Only 4% of the past Olympic venues have been abandoned.

..”I find the olympics to be just a big, expensive world's competition.”

That’s true and you find that objectionable? I don’t get it.

I read that 15% of Olympic venues are abandoned......put that into a dollar perspective and it isn't a small sum....

In my opinion, the Olympics have outlived their use and are now just an overgrown expensive commercial enterprise.

....and don't misunderstand me as I know how much work and dedication the athletes put into their respective sports....

Many of whom put this much work and dedication in for their national and international meets as well.

In my opinion the Olympics are the greatest stage to compete with the world’s best. A dedicated athlete can truly appreciate the wonder in that.
That in itself makes the Olympics worth enjoying, far overshadowing anyone's negative commercial endeavors.

That's the great thing about where we live, we are all allowed to have differing opinions without persecution....

Yeah, for the most part. My cat hates it when I smoke cigars and lets me know it. Her kind of persecution, I suppose.

Because I was deployed so much in my previous profession, our cat basically took over my side of the bed and would get annoyed when I was home. She didn't persecute me but would stretch out quite a bit almost pushing me out of bed....

Why move them around the world from nation to nation? Just leave them in Greece where they originated, then they can build the best of the best stadiums and tracks etc and the world's athletes can simply go there every time. To me it's just bread and circuses, Mega bucks wasted so a few athletes can perform and a lot of politicians can puff up their chests. I never watch the crap, too much marketing, too much propaganda.

And you pick photos of Nazis? WTH is “bread and circuses”? You have all these opinions about them but you never watch them.

Riiiiiight.

A few athletes? You can’t come to this forum a bigoted racist, and then use pictures of Hitler to back your narrow minded comments.
HaHaHa. You're such a modern man red, full of Hate, full of the modern divisive theories and politics, you have more in common with Hitler than you think. Yes a few athletes, just a few thousand people. But the Olympics has nothing to do with them, they are just the excuse to put cities on the "Map" and allow corporations to make billions.
Oh btw, your accusations about my character don't bother me, you're just a Avatar, a non-person, a nothing in the noise of the web. Remember that as you you put your head on the pillow tonight. You're not an authentic man, just an accumulation of modern politically correct mantras, just a reflection of the TV screen.

61-Year-Old Brit Gets 18 Month Prison Sentence For Chanting "Who The F**k Is Allah"

Yes really.

The sentence handed out to David Spring is the latest shocking example of how low the bar has now been set in terms of free speech in response to rioting that occurred after the murder of three girls in Southport last month.
While Spring’s behavior could be described as offensive and unruly, the fact that he will spent the next year and a half behind bars for saying mean words exemplifies how the UK has slipped into extreme authoritarianism in the space of just two weeks. xxx.zerohedge.com/political/61-year-old-brit-gets-18-month-prison-sentence-chanting-who-fk-allah

Over in Blighty if you're muslim you get a free pass. But if you're a traditional Englishman you're demonized. I'm sure some here would think the sentence is too light haha. Speech crimes by bigots should get life in prison hey Red.

Not accusations; a factual reminder of the derisive, racist comments you have made on this forum. You can't take them away or pretend you didn't mean it.

Through all the fog and ill placed bluster, I do like the idea of making Greece the Olympic mecca and establishing at least the summer Olympics there....

Might be hard for the winter Olympics but I do like the idea of an established Olympic venue.

The Olympics is a cool idea, glad it’s still around. Honestly didn’t watch it, but knowing it still happens feels good.

There’s American kids nowadays that don’t know what 9/11 was so it’s no surprise Pearl Harbor, D-Day, etc are falling away. Certain things should never be forgotten, regardless of the side you are on. Some ppl could say look at D-Day, the turning point, fighting racist nazis, all men created equal, VJ day, ending of the war, and then look how minority vets were treated after the war, or gay vets treated, etc. Different people, different views, different takes. Makes fun internet squabbles to read tho lol

The face of UK Pride, Stephen Ireland, the 40-year-old founder and former director of LGBT activist charity 'Pride in Surrey'

Arrested on a total of 37 charges involving child sexual abuse. Ireland is an avid proponent of child indoctrination into gender ideology and was a patron of a charity called 'Educate And Celebrate.' The charity ran Pride workshops for primary and secondary school pupils, which included “How to break the binary and be gender inclusive”. Alongside Stephen Ireland, David Sutton, 26, a former volunteer with the Pride in Surrey, was also charged.

Beyond the revelations of recent months, the list of prominent LGBT activists being arrested for child abuse crimes is becoming extensive and the worst perpetrators tend to be those that operate from behind the curtain of charity and community organizations. With the political protection afforded by leftist governments any investigation or criticism of these groups is labeled "bigotry" and "hate speech." With immunity to scrutiny, these predators are able to commit untold violations before they are finally caught.

"bigotry" and "hate speech." Not allowed. It's the attitudes of those like @Red that help protect these deviants. Deviants that is if you thing exploiting young children for sex is wrong. I do. Don't worry Red, I'm sure there will be a gofundme page where you can donate to Stephen's legal costs.

However, the spokesperson said Pride in Surrey was only made aware of the exact nature of the charges via a social media post on Thursday. The spokesperson added: “We are appalled and horrified at the charges which have been brought against the two individuals. ’We will fully cooperate with Surrey Police in any way they require. Our thoughts are with the alleged victims and their families.”

Not real victims, just alleged victims. Anyone notice that shift in reporting over the last couple of years?

It seems human beings thrive on division and the 'pride' movement is a divisive organization.....in the early years of the gay community it might have been a necessary evil in order to garner support and gain rights...that time has come and gone.....this faction of people have equal rights and support (albeit forced support at times).

The time has come for the gay community to take their sexual orientation back into their homes and off the streets and for governments to push for the abolishment of pride parades and the like.....if we want an inclusive society, groups such as this has to blend into and become part of society and not remain in the fringe such as they currently are.

Well spoken. There is no need to keep jamming it in people's faces, but there is a real agenda going on behind that I think. The pride flag is replacing the Us flag in a lot of events now, unheard of even 10 years ago. I find it all very Orwellian myself. Keep it out of the schools, out of government offices. Put it to a popular vote and see how many people actually want it there. It's like that movement to abolish all monuments and literature pertaining to the Confederate Army and it's soldiers. There was no need for that, it was just an exercise in erasing history but it just brings history more into focus. That war was over many things but at its core was the simple fact that the southerners didn't want to be dictated to by an all powerful federal government. Who was behind that abolish the South movement? Young activists. And who was behind them.

Where is this “literature pertaining to the Confederate Army and its soldiers” being abolished? Never heard that. And no one is trying to abolish the memory of the south or the war between the states, just the monuments to those who served the confederacy. They were in fact fighting against the united states of America.

Remember our history but why celebrate its adversaries?
